Great Value, Great Restaurant!. Cool River is a great spot to visit when you are in the DTC. The nightlife is great and the food is even better. I recently stopped in for some drinks and appetizers and was surprised by the delicious happy hour appetizer menu...what a great deal! I will be back soon.
Everytime I've been there, the staff goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful. I've had the chance to meet both their GM, Joe, and one of their chefs, Tish, and it always seems like I am the most important person in the restaurant! :o)
The Lamb, Venison, and Filets are always fantastic! Excellent wine list as well.
Anyway, I seem to have become a regular, so maybe I'm a little partial, but give 'em a shot. I think you'll like it.
Great place for a first date!!. We had a wonderful dinner, then went over to the bar where they had awesome live music and great drink specials. We had an absolute blast!!! I definately recomend going to Cool River for dinner then staying for the band!
Great Place to Spend an Evening. To Start our evening we were greeted by an inviting and knowledgeable waitstaff. The filet and wine pairing were on spot. I opted for the Filet Oscar, it seemed to just melt in my mouth. Our waiter seemlessly timed everything. There was never a want or need. This is my new favorite restaurant.
Great Place to meet. I love to go to Cool River for lunch. It is a great place to meet and get business done. The staff is descreet yet friendly and professional and the food is always well done.
Awesome ambiance, GREAT food. If you want to be treated like the most important person in the room, then go to Cool River. Not only is the food to die for (the Devils Advocate shrimp is amazing), but the service and staff really make you feel special. They go above and beyond for special occasions. Business banquets couldn't be more flawless. Our holiday party was in one of their private rooms and it was the perfect, effortless experience.
Bar is nice but....
My friends and I go here once in a while on Friday night for drinks
Good professional crowd, good live music, more seating than on previous visits.
After a few good drinks, our last one was skimpy. I'm not sure if our 20 year old waitress spilled them, but my friend barely got 2 sips of Grand Marnier. After mentioing it to the waitress, she just looked at it puzzled. Not good considering what they charge for drinks.
Also, a distinct smell of sewer problems near the bathroom. Not good for even a neighborhood restaurant let alone an upscale one.
great value, wonderful service, good food. My new husband and I had our wedding reception at Cool River on a Saturday afternoon and it couldn't have been nicer. The staff was so attentive and the atmosphere was wonderful. We chose to have a cocktail reception and the appetizers were fantastic! I would recommend Cool River to anyone looking to have a small get together!
Definitely not worth the price - decidedly average!.
My wife and I eat out a ton, mostly at high-end restaurants, and we enjoy a unique experience. We were in the tech center area and wanted to try something new, as we usually choose Yia Yia's or J Alexanders when we are down there. We chose Cool River since we hadn't tried it, and were EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED!
The gut-wrenching aroma from the cigar room hits you before you even get through the door - nasty way to try to eat a $35.00 steak with a $100 bottle of wine. Speaking of wine, I don't mind paying for it, but when about 85% of the wine list is over $75 bucks, you know the place is trying to prove something, and its not that they can choose good wine for all. My NY Strip was pretty good, cooked just right, but other than that it was not special. My wife had THE WORST crab cakes she had ever had - doughy and bland and generally disgusting. My daughter really wanted the lobster tail - it was so dry and overcooked that she could not finish it - our waitress did notice it, however, and removed it from the bill without us asking, which was great!
Overall, there are much better choices in this price range. But maybe this is what you get with steak places in Denver (except Sullivan's) - you get OK food, nice atmosphere (if you can ignore cigar smoke) and a check that would pay for a weeks worth of groceries at Whole Foods. My grill keeps looking better and better for steak night!
Cool River was more like a cold shower than a cool ocean breeze...
Fake quality at best, will never be who they think they are. Cool River...HA! 2 star dining...maybe. The food is disgusting and the management horrible. Cool river talks a lot of talk about being the best and what they really are is average. I ate the crab cakes as an appetizer and not even hours later I was sooo sick. I have always heard of rumors of people getting sick from their food, but never believed them, until I wanted to die from those god-awful canned crab, crab cakes. I was talking to my server, I believer her name was Jennifer, or Jenny, but she told me the most horrible stories about having to work non-stop and that her managers really didn't care about anyone of them and overheard them say that everyone here is dispensible. I didn't believer her at first because she just seemed like your typical cocktail waitress, blonde and all, but when I called the next day to tell them I got sick from their food, the female manager apologized and said they would send me a free appetizer card! Yeah, like that's what I wanted! Maybe Cool river should stop trying to impress people, and look at their core as a whole restaurant. Terrible! Don't ever go...I wont again that's for sure
