Denver >Illuminate Electric Inc.
Job Description: Victor was asked to
move 4 speaker cables which were pre-wired in my home to another wall. The job was extremely complex since my basement is finished. So this involved guessing and calculating where existing wires were behind the walls, cutting holes in the drywall and fishing wires through tight spaces between the basement ceiling and main level floor.
Rate: Victor is one of the few guys that works on hourly rate OR FLAT rate basis. As a customer you should have some common sense in guesstimating what time a job should cost and accordingly choose the flat or hourly rate. Victor's hourly rate was an affordable @55. VERY GOOD FOR A MASTER ELECTRICIAN with 16 years of experience.
As a final thing you as a customer need to remember that electricians charge drive time. Standard industry practice. In my case he let it go since I tremendously helped him with the job, but you need to keep this in mind.
License: I was able to go to the Colorado State Board website and search by his name. Under the "Master electrician" category Victors license status pops up as "Active" when searched by first and last name.
Payment: Victor accepts payment under his business name and is insured which is always a good sign.
Now for the main part....
Attitude/Skill: I am very pleased with his professionalism and positive attitude. He was supposed to be at my home at 9 am and at 9:04 am I got a call to say he was stuck in traffic and will be here shortly. Very professional!. Also showed great regard for my home and the structure. As much as possible avoided making unnecessary holes in the drywall and did great thinking to come up with innovative ways of working the wiring. Speed wise this man is fast. As an example he changed a chandelier out in my home in 12 minutes. His hands work fast and the special tools like a right angled rotating screw-driver etc make his fast.
After work was done he provided a copy of a proper invoice for the work done.
One item he refused to do is swap Comcast and Satellite TV wiring from the main lines. I understand this as a liability issue and any electrician will not interfere with a Satellite and Cable company owned lines (maybe with fear of a lawsuit).
Our House In Arvada.
After reading the sole review on Illumiante Electrical (not knowing it was listed here on Citywide), I felt compelled to put in my 2 or 3 cents or should I say the hundreds I saved using Illumiante.
Victor at Illuminate had completed a full electrical service swap at our 2400 sf home in Arvada. From sub-panel to main panel swap, to junction tie, to running endless new wire into house and basemet, Illuminate Electrical saved me not hundreds, but over $1000 . This is in comparison not only to other corporations but also to sole proprietors.
I must mention I am impressed when a 1 or 2 man company such as Illumainate gives you an option of hourly or job bid ( I took the bid) and are also insured as I always make sure all service we hire are insured from experience.
My advice to all who are looking for electrical work in denver, see if they give you option of hourly or bid such as Illuminate did and also...if you're looking for a good company who won't take you for a ride, call Illuminate!
Honest and Professional.
We moved into an old house that needed completely new wiring throughout including more power and bigger breaker-box. Since we were doing a big remodel including the kitchen, we decide to do the whole house because not only would we need more electricity for the appliances in the kitchen, the contractors said, and we could see for ourselves that the wiring was very old and unsafe behind the walls in all the house. Victor explained to us that he could charge us by the hour or a flat rate. With working with the contractors we knew unexpected problems could arise in an old house along with unexpected costs and taking longer to fix, so we chose his flat rate so it would be on him if it took longer than expected or if he ran into problems. We're glad we did because it was such a big job and so many quirky things wrong with the house.
He worked well with the contractors and when the inspector came to give the okay, he asked who did our work for us because he did a very good job and made great decisions on how to solve some of the weird issues concerning the electric service in our house and resolving the old box and wiring with the new service he put in.
We highly recommend illuminate electric, it's hard to come by someone you can trust in the contracting business.
Draw your own conclusions. I recently had Victor from Illuminate Electric come to my house and look at some wiring in my garage. Specifically, I had an outlet, a switch, and two lights that I needed to get working. I had tried to do the wiring myself but apparently didn't do it correctly. Anyway, Victor charged me $285, and since I'd had trouble getting any other electricians to return my calls, I accepted. The good news is that he got everything working. However, he was there for no more than 20 minutes and used no parts of his own except for a couple of wire connectors. I payed without protest because I knew it was my mistake for not asking moe questions up front. If $285 for 20 minutes sounds like a fair deal to you, then by all means go with these guys - Victor was certainly a nice enough guy. If you think this price is too high, perhaps you ought to look elsewhere.
