It looks small from the outside but the place is actually huge! I didn't realize until someone pointed out that there is another bar upstairs along with pool tables and jukebox. I had no idea. Hanson's offers the usual burgers, sandwiches and the like. They also have some tasty dinner specials. I had a seafood stuffed trout served with an herb cream sauce. I was in heaven! My dining partner always squirms and cries that she "hates fish". I begged her to try some and she could not believe how great it was. One of pros of Hanson's is that they do have a parking lot. It is small but lots of times you can get lucky. Also, being a little north and out of the congested Sushi Den part of South Pearl Street there is often street parking available. I love the place and can't get enough. Its also a great place to hang out and have some drinks with friends. They have happy hour that seems to go on forever so drinks are pretty cheap. Hanson's has a great feel to it, I am from Chicago and it reminds me a lot of neighborhood bars back home. See you there!
Pros: exceptional food for neighborhood hangout, parking, cheap drinks, free pool
Cons: can get busy on certain nights

I like to go to hansens' when i'm in the area - great for a stop from the lightrail. The bartenders are friendly. I've never had a problem with poor service. The patio is awesome and the food is delicious. The only thing I haven't liked is the hummus and one time the french fries were cold. - but I just asked for fresh ones with no problems. Happy hour is good and they have a good selection of late night food. The upstairs has pool tables and a bar and bathrooms - good for a group. The place seems to attract a mid 20's- early 30's group and then an older upper middle class crowd - a little more upscale than your standard neighborhood bar.
Pros: affordable, good food
