Tips for Tom's Diner

Tough staff.. Don't let bad reviews scare you. Personally, I love coming here.

It's reasonably priced, the staff aren't suffocating but attentive. The food itself is not bad. I personally like it. My favorite is their Denver Omelette and Monte Cristo. I love their Sante Fe as well.

With a 24 hour business on Colfax, you can't blame the staff for coming off as rude but really, they're not. They put up with a lot of bullshit and I give them props for handling themselves. I've witnessed a lot of altercations. It's Colfax. It happens.

A solid diner. Having been scared off by bad reviews, I've been neglecting a visit to the local diner. Turns out, that was a mistake. It's pretty much everything you'd want with a greasy spoon/diner.

The biscuits and gravy are well made and fluffy. The homefries are well seasoned, perhaps with a hint of cumin. Toast is plentiful. The pancakes were also large, fluffy, and delicious, by all accounts.

The decor and staff were both welcoming as well. Service was top notch and my coffee cup never went empty. They even permitted us to linger for quite awhile post meal without a glare, heh.

Also, it's not filled with the craptastic crowds you experience at Denver Diner on the weekends. More neighborhood, less trendy/popular, and just as good, if not better.

Will definitely return.

The worst diner in Denver, as well as the dirtiest.. I used to work at Tom's several years ago as a server, when it was a tiny bit better. It has gone down hill in many ways over the years, and is decidedly dirtier. I only had a cup of coffee and passed on ordering food after I saw a rodent running across the floor. The service is poor, and the clientele these days is even worse than it was when I was employed there.(which wasn't long, I assure you) There are safer alternatives for diners in Denver. I recommend Breakfast King, Pete's Kitchen, and Denver Diner.

The Classic Diner Experience. Tom's formula seems to be simple--and yet succeeds where most diners fail: good quality food, excellent value for money, cheerful efficient service and a great atmosphere--particularly Fri/Sat nights when clubs close. If you want to avoid the long lines and miserable service at Pete's Kitchen, then Toms is the place to head for.
