Lost it?.
Something has changed at Ted's. They shrank the menu...no daily specials and no chicken burger options.
Waited 50 minutes for two burgers and a bowl of chile (they were not at all busy). Both burgers were ordered medium. Both were bleeding, with one being cold and RAW through out. Dangerously inedible. There are no longer condiments on the table. None offered none given. Bad day? I hope so.
Families and large groups feast on hearty cuts and comfort food at this Rocky-Mountain style steakhouse..
In Short
Lots of mahogany, tin ceilings, metal crown molding and Arts and Crafts-style décor prevail at this casual, comfortable saloon, part of media mogul Ted Turner's domain. Beef and bison are king, and they're hand-cut on site. Other bites include beer-can chicken, bison prime rib and cedar planked salmon. For dessert, there's home-made cookies, Kahlua fudge brownies, Coke floats and strawberry shortcake.
Bison Country. We had a party of 6, called at the last minute for reservations, and were seated promptly. Nice wine and beer selection with a bunch of microbrews. You can eat anything from an $8 burger to a $25 bison steak here, casual or dressy. I'd agree with the previous reviewer, the onion rings are nothing special, appetizer selection pretty limited. Four of us guys ordered the bison steaks and were pleased. We were intrigued by the Beer Can Chicken on the menu, but we went for Ted's bison instead. Definitely will try the chicken next time... Auntie's squash side dish can be skipped. Service was good. Overall, I would recommend it for a nice casual dinner for any budget.
User review by mcgechie. I eat lunch out everyday downtown and the 5 times I've been here the only consistant things about this restaurant are the slow service and crappy burgers. The last two times I even tried to explain my previous burger disappointments to my waiters -- mainly that medium does not mean bloody to the point that the bun becomes a soggy mess. My friends always get a chicken sandwich here for a reason! It seems there is no forethought to service here, everyone including the managers have a reactive and not proactive service approach.
A value in Lodo with great service!. Always consistant with service and food. The manager is completely consumed in making sure you are happy. The cedar plank salmon is to die for. Also, try one of their wedge salads. We frequent this place for a reason.
User review by jt297. The burgers are great but the fries are often cold. Try the onion rings they're they best I've ever had. The crushed ice in drinks can taste funny so ask for cubed. And they finally got fountain drinks with free refills instead of the two little bottles.....I will be dining there more often now!
disappointed. after much hype from friends, i was very disappointed with my experience at teds. we waited for 10 minutes for service at the bar with only 2 other patrons. my rib eye steak lacked ANY seasoning, was too greasy, and almost tasted like the meat had been thawed, frozen, and unthawed again. the mashed potatoes were cold. will not go again ever.
Great Place. This is an excellent restaurant with wonderful food and friendly service. The wait was less than expected and food was served within 15 minutes. Suggestion: try the blue plate special and prime rib
It's in the details.... My bison burger was actually quite good. However, the fries were very chewy and tough, and the "salt & pepper" onion rings were surprisingly bland. I was happy to see snickerdoodle cookies on the menu, but was told they only had oatmeal that day...and were out of them. The waitstaff, while polite, seemed a bit confused and robotic, as if reciting memorized bits. Odd "wait list" system, as well. Not a horrible experience, but I won't be rushing back either.
Buffalo. Don't walk, run to Teds for the buffalo burger. It is awesome. Don't waste your time or money on any other burger, but don't miss the chocolate malts.
