This place has good food at a good price. Stuffed croissant French toast, omelets and crepes with either a spinach or champagne sauce are excellent, if unfriendly to your waist line. Of course, who eats at a place with a French influence with a worry of calories in mind? Unlike the complaints listed seem to indicate, our meals have been exactly as described in their menu with one exception (see later). The staff has always been polite and about the only thing I can think of that can be frustrating is that it is small restaurant (which I personally like), thus has a small kitchen and service can be a little delayed when they are packed, but the staff checks back and keeps you appraised. We have only sent back an item once, a seafood omelet where the fake crab stuff was used. We felt it was our fault, we didn?t clarify before ordering, but the staff took it back without question or comment other than to note they were wrong as they need to upgrade the menu to reflect the change. It should be noted they must be doing something right because they continue to have a constant clientele and it is not uncommon to have to wait for a table during popular dining times and days, especially breakfast and lunch on any given holiday. Staff is obviously a close team and I have seen the owner step in for his staff when working with hostile, really out of line, patrons, but never to the extremes noted here. Although, if finger pointing, shouting or public snickering/rude commentary about customers occurred, then yes, the staff and the management need to stop and reassess their customer service objectives, because that type of behavior is unacceptable, whether you are the management, staff or customer.

After hearing how the Owner SCOTT GAINES treated my mother on mother's day I hope somebody treats his mother in the same way. There was an issue with the waiting list and my mother made a comment. The Owner proceeded to get in my mothers face and yell at her saying if she had a problem she needed to take it to him and not the hostess. He proceeded to point his finger in her face and ask her if she understood. HE MADE MY MOTHER CRY ON MOTHERS DAY.....Very Unprofessional!!!!!!! I think this restaurant has bad aura anyways.....I agree with the previous posting stating the staff is rude.....well so is the owner. I have eaten at this restaurant once and I thought the staff was terrible and the food is not all that great either. MESSAGE TO THE OWNER you need to take some customer service skills classes OR GET OUT OF THE BUSINESS.

My husband and I went to Cafe De France for the first time this morning. I have heard great things about it, however we were not impressed. There was a wait, but being that is was easter morning it was to be expected. Once we were seated we found it to be very cozy, a nice quaint little place. My husband ordered Steak and Eggs, and I the Crepe Sante Fe, which had a green chile sauce. Once we received our meals, I realized that the green chile sauce had pork in it, I do not eat pork and I found it a little odd since the crepe it self had chicken in it. I asked the waitress fr some thing else, and explained that I did not realize there was pork in the sauce. She was very nice about it, apologized and said they would take the crepes off my order. At this point I was still very pleased with the place, as she was very helpful in getting the situation resolved. While we were waiting for my new order of a chicken and broc omelet, we heard what I would call the senior staff talking about why I did not have a plate. I think the waitresses could give the "Senior staff" a lesson in manners. I heard one of them say "well, as far as I know, green chile always has pork in it", they said other things as well along these same lines. I found this to be incredibly rude. First, way to put it back on the customer, I wasn't complaining or making a scene, why not just say 'oh, I'm sorry there was confusion' or something of that nature. Second we were right next to where they were all peering into the dining room, which was a little weird in it self. I think it's always rude to speak in a negative way about your customers, but especially if they are in ear shot! I would also like to clarify that yes I would expect a bowl of green chile to have pork in it, however "a green chile sauce" I would expect to be exactly that, a sauce made from green chiles. The meal went down hill from there. My replacement dish was OK, but nothing to write home about.
