Denver >Think Tank Tattoo
I'm new to Denver and was looking for a new ink spot, and a lot of people recommended the Tank. I view my ink as a collaboration between my ideas and the artists personal style - I never say "this is what I want, do exactly this stencil or whatever". I want an original piece of artwork! I setup two different consults with some guys a few months ago that I dug their style, and told him I want a half sleeve of flowers I let my sisters pick out and one for my grandma who passed. I wanted the artist to incorporate their own style and do whatever they want. The dudes were both total snobs and totally missed the idea. One guy kept saying he just needed more direction, more info! He couldn't just run with my idea and bring some innovation!! What a joke, totally turned off by this place and have no idea why its so highly rated.
Long waits both to get an appointment, long waits when you arrive for your appointment. Snarky, "I'm too cool" attitudes abound. Cash only policy that is a real pain in the ass. If you love abuse and disrespect, you'll love this place. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
Think Tank - Don`t say I didnt warn you.. I have two sleeves and have always hade great experiences with tattoos and great people great atmosphere, but not only did the So called sloopy artist at Think Tank mess up, he and the owner tried to charge full price. Never again!!
DO NOT USE JEREMY BARBER IF YOU WANT A GOOD EXPERIENCE.
I've had the worst tattoo experience possible with this A$$. He doesn't give a damn about his customers and he ended up charging me more then the rate we agreed upon. - twice! (I had a two part tattoo with him and so I had to go in a second time session) If you take more then 60 seconds to think about your tattoo & look at it in the mirror he'll act like a total d!ck - as if you're some kind of inconveinence for him...even though your paying him a gross hourly rate.
The work that he does is first rate - no doubt about that, but for the price you have to pay (way over-priced) and considering you have to deal with his attitude, I highly suggest thinking twice. I will never return to this shop due to him
This ink is worth the wait!.
For months I did research on tattoos, artists, and shops in and around Denver. The tattoo in progress was to be my first and definitley not too small. The amount of symbolism behind my tattoo is unbeleivable and I needed an artist that would be able to capture what I wanted.
I finally selected Patrick Shackley at Th'ink Tank and I couldn't be more happy. Patrick took the time to listen to all of my requirements and make suggestions that made perfect sense. He pulled my desired image from my head and custom drew my tattoo. It is a one of a kind design and the lines/colors are so perfect.
Additionally, Patrick took the time to explain everything that he was doing to me since as I mentioned, I was an ink virgin.
I would highly recommend Patrick and Think Tank if you are getting your first, second, or whatever the number tattoo is. The complaints that I came across in my research was the time to have to wait for the artists. My theory on that is that this tattoo will be with me for 50+ years... what's a few months of waiting for the perfection that I desire.
I've read several complaints that the artists/desk staff were rude, unattentive, etc. I experienced none of this in any of my calls or visits to the shop.
So my son someday wants to be able to get some ink... Hopefully when he gets to that appropriate age, Patrick is still inking so that I can take him and get him a first class tattoo! Who knows... I might add a second to my collection then too.
Arty, Edgy, Clean.. I've been tattooed many times at several different shops and visited many others. Th'ink Tank became my go-to shop after my first visit; the staff is helpful and professional, the artists are experienced and talented. This is an arty, edgy, clean shop with a much welcome dash of contemporary style in contrast to the stereotypically unrefined world of tattooing. In a time where tattooing has evolved into a fine art form, Th'ink Tank steps up to satisfy appreciators of all types with consistent quality.
mediocre tattoos, HORRIFYING Customer Service. I called Th'ink tank tattoo FIVE times, asking to speak with a specific artist about getting a small ring tattoo. Not ONCE did I get a phone call back. Apparently, in order to have one of their mediocre artists give you a non-original tattoo, you have to know someone in the shop. Their customer service is ridiculously horrible. I finally called and made an appointment for a consultation, just to get in the door. And someone called the next day to remind me of my appointment, which was TWO weeks away. Thanks for the "helpful" reminder... If you want to get a tattoo, there are better shops with better artists who do a better job and who will return your call.
The best tattoo shop I've been to. I've been to a lot of tattoo shops in the past 3 years before moving to Colorado. Think Tank is the best shop I've been tattooed at as far as quality in work, price, the atmosphere and all of the artist are extrememly friendly and personable. I have had 3 different artist Tattoo me and Ryan W. is by far the most creative and his artistic skills are out of this world. If you go there I recommend Ryan because half the time you wont even know your getting tattooed because he cares about who he has in his chair and conversation comes easy. I cant wait to go back again. If you want to be blown away with your tattoo see him!
Th'ink Tank rules!. Having a hard time understanding the few neg reviews. I am 3 sessions into a 5-6 session sleeve being done by sam, and my experience from top to bottom has been extremely positive thus far. Both of the front desk people that I've dealt with have been laid-back, friendly, and helpful; and Sam I the freakin' man. I love traditional American tattoos and Sam is simply great at this style. All one has to do is check his portfolio out in order to see that he has skills. I suspect that the woman who found his work to be "generic" either had a lame idea for a tattoo or doesn't appreciate the art of tattooing. Sam has listened to what I want and added his own ideas and improvements to create a piece that I couldn't be happier with. In my experience, Th'ink tank's great reputation is well-deserved. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else in Denver.
An amazing tattoo studio with top notch artists!.
I've traveled extensively and been tattooed by quite a few different artists in many different places. I guess you could say I know a thing or two about what makes a decent tattooer.
From the moment I stepped into Th'Ink Tank, I was treated with the utmost respect and professionalism. I had a consultation with Patrick Schackley and he blew me away with his dedication to his craft and all-around persona. No giant ego or acting like he was doing me a favor just by talking to me. He asked a lot of questions and literally pulled my ideas out of my head and put them to paper with a quick sketch.
Then the hard part, I did end up waiting about 5 months to get in for my tattoo appointment. I know it's a long time to wait. But, to my relief, it was absolutely worth every minute of waiting. He expertly applied an amazingly detailed and colorful piece of artwork on me. He was surprisingly gentle. In fact, I think he has the lightest hand I've felt before. And was conscientious about engaging me in conversation to distract me from the rough spots. The tattoo healed perfectly and is by far and large my very favorite one! I will certainly look Patrick up when I'm ready to get my next piece.
The studio was clean and professional and the other artists were very friendly and engaging as well. I had a fantastic experience and am giving Th'Ink Tank and Patrick Schackley five stars only because I can't give them ten!
