Tips for Father & Son Moving

May 20, 2013

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I could go on and on about what an awful company this is. Just to name the key points: they don't communicate with each other, nobody knows what is going on. They won't lay down plastic and will trash your carpets (I had to steam clean my whole house after they left and when I brought it up to them, they said "most people don't move on days where there's snow on the ground.") Their truck left a huge oil stain in our driveway and then proceeded to breakdown halfway to our destination and have to be towed back to Denver. They didn't let us know until we were already up there and didn't give us any money back for having to get a hotel room, board our pets, etc. Their movers are inexperienced and didn't even bring a screwdriver, had no idea how to take furniture apart of pack a truck. I had to call my husband home from work to come tell them how to do their job.

AWFUL customer service. I have called them countless times since our move to try and get some money back (we paid over the quote price even after everything they did.) They will ignore you and not call you back.

They are also known as King Moving and Storage and Neighborhood Movers.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!

I recommend that you stay AWAY from this crooked company! First off I scheduled a move with Father and Son moving and storage company and was quoted at $75 an hour plus an hour in addition for gas. Well, the day of the scheduled move, they never show up! Thirty minutes later, I had to call the company in order to find out where the drivers were. Chuck, the service guy did not have an answer, he said he would call the driver. An hour later, some random guy calls me to tell me he is my new driver, in fact, he said they called him to do the move because he was the best guy. He then stated he was finishing up with his current job and that he would be at my house soon. Three hours later, after calling the office over and over again, looking for an answer of truth, all I received was a rude, inconsiderate woman named Joyce who was trying to down play this entire situation. When I called the driver, he finally tells me he had actually just began that job when they called him. I demanded they make this situation right. Joyce was rude and said all she could do was give me a 10% discount (by the way this was two hours into the no show). After 4.5 hours I called back, the office would not answer. Finally Ron, a driver from King Moving and Storage, shows up. I refused to sign anything until he contacts the office, because they stopped answering my calls. At this point I speak to Chuck again and ask for a 20% discount considering they were now 4.5 hours late for my scheduled move. Finally, after much frustration and debating, he agrees. After the move actually occurred, the driver tells me that my total cost for the move is $158. I then say, "so you mean they are only going to charge me $58 dollars because they have already taken $100 for the deposit initially?" He then tells me "Yes" you are correct. With this I was pleased considering the inconvenience, lack of professionalism, and incompetence. The movers worked hard, so I decided to tip them significantly, considering they were only charging me a total of $158. Low and behold I check my bank account, they not only charged me $258 (which by the way was higher than the 20% discount they guaranteed me) but the mover gladly walked away with the $180 tip that he received. Of course now, the Father and Son mover and storage company and the King Moving and Storage company will not return my calls. Save your time and your money, stay away from these incompetent crooks!

Whenever a moving company tells you to leave the drawers and contents in furniture, avoid them. This is a quick way to ensure damage due to the excess weight. Skeptical? Just contact any good furniture manufacturer and ask them.

Father and sons damaged my furniture, including an antique that I asked them to take special care of. When I tried to file a claim, they were unresponsive.

They also did not know how to drive the truck and broke branches off my neighbors tree, which they actually had to drive six feet onto his lawn to do this

Do NOT use this company! Damaged furniture during the move. The quote was not EVEN CLOSE to what it ended up being. BEWARE of the "shrink wrap" charges...AND when they rush you, close out your moving invoice before they are done to "save" you money....they just want a bigger tip. All in all, I have scratched furniture and one brand new mirror jewelry stand that cannot be fixed. The sad part about this is that, no one will return my call, emails...nothing. I finally filed complaint with BBB and next will be attorney general of CO. It is too bad, all it took was a little customer service, a payment to replace my damaged stand and I wouldn't have even thought about writing poor reviews, a complaint with the BBB and attorney general.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I was charged over $200 above the original quote and had new furniture damaged beyond repair. When I contacted the organization to resolve, they never responded. In addition, they will ask you to sighn documents that specifically state that you will not dispute any credit card charges. The contract was filled out incorrectly, the movers begged for gratuity and there were numerous forms that I was asked to sign, but was not able to obtain copies of. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY...they are absolutley horrific to work with.

I am with a competing moving company and if one more person tells me that your people are saying LIBELOUS, SLANDEROUS AND OUT RIGHT LIES about how we do business I will tell everyone I can what I know to be fact about your outfit. The only defense to slander is TRUTH. You will be receiving a cease and desist order this week from our attorneys office. If you were a decent honest company you wouldn't have to lie about others to steal work. When I tried to call and speak to someone, they of course kicked the line when they saw on caller id who was calling...Why am i not surprised nobody has the courage to get on the phone with me. You actually told a potential customer you "are afraid for them" by going with us. ONE MORE TIME AND I'LL OWN YOUR HORRIBLE OUTFIT. IT IS SLANDER YOU BETTER CONSULT YOUR ATTORNEY.

OTHERS BEWARE THE GOOD REVIEWS HERE ARE POSTED BY THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES.

Total Bait & Switch! No problems with the movers, but low ball quote which they refused to honor. Moving Consultant, Scott confirmed original estimate never included 18% fuel surcharge but was unable to assist to get erroneous charge reversed. Gave up on their phone menu hell. Watch out for these people. They are unscrupulous!! Read the comments below - we are telling you the truth.

I wish I could give them zero stars. It was neighbors moving and storage that shows up.

I was quoted 3 men and a truck. Show up between 8 and 10 am and take 3-4 hours to move from a 2 bedroom apartment to house

What happened

They showed up at 6:30 pm.

There was 2 of them, without dollies (Oh yeah, they are not allowed to use dollies anymore because they 'forget' them.

They wanted 6 hours to move me, at 7 pm

They wanted almost $800 for a 2 bedroom apartment move.

They wanted to wrap everything, including all the boxes I had. Yes, the wanted to bubble wrap my boxes.

No dollies (again, this is amazing to me)

I gave them $100 deposit. They did call after I cancelled and promised to give the deposit back within a day. Still havent seen it.

Now I have to deal with my bank and the BBB. TOTAL RIP OFF!! SCAM ARTISTS IS RIGHT!
