This is the first review I have ever written online... EVER. This place was horrible. The manager was completely unprofessional and pushy. Not everyone wants a contract, especially when they feel forced into it. At The Beach teaches its employees bad business ethics and there sales tactics are aggressive and relentless. I will NEVER sign a contract with At The Beach because of their approach. This company is a joke. I have read many reviews (from a variety of locations) of people being charged multiple times for contract renewals and then having issues getting their money back. I would strongly advise people to stay away from all At The Beach locations.
DON'T TAN HERE! I was told I was able to cancel my membership whenever I wanted as long as I notified them 30 days before the date of my transaction. I chatted with the employee about only needing the membership through the winter months and she said I should sign up for this new deal they were advertising, it was a great price for what I needed and as we were going through the sign up process she was right beside me hurrying me through the sign up paperwork, and making me feel rushed for the fact of there being 2 other customers behind me. She gave me the details and turned toward me to ask if I understood, all sounded correct - but what she did not disclose with me was that I was signing a contract for 12 months.. AFTER I had just told her I only needed the membership through the winter months. She did not say or point out to me that I was signing a year contract with them. I have been calling the corporate office to try to get them to understand my situation and all they keep telling me is that I have no choice and they don't understand how I would not have known it was a 12 month contract when I was signing the paperwork. They are a scam and very misleading business! I would definitely make sure you are reading the fine print when you are doing business with them because they will try to steal your money..
I was rapidly signed up for a contract with little explanation. After tanning in what seemed like a broom closet, I told them I wanted to cancel my membership....just 15 minutes after signing the contract. They told me there was nothing they could do for me, and I would have to call customer service in the morning. I called right away and they wanted a certified letter in the mail by that day to honor the 24 hour cancellation. An email was not sufficient. They try to make it as difficult as possible. After reading through the contract I saw the charges would begin next month, come to find out my account was charged the next day. I was charged for an initiation fee that I was told at the salon would be waived because of my coupons. Called customer service again and was told this was not refundable. So this company got $27.45 out of me for making a bad choice and recanting within 20 minutes. This company is a scam and should be shut down. After reading through my contract, I discovered the monthly fee of $27.45 (which included a tax) was not for 12 months but for 13 months so the coupon for 5 weeks free that I had was actually not honored because I had to pay for 13 months instead of 12 with the initiation fee.
I love tanning here, the beds are pretty good (upper levels are amazing). The staff is knowledgeable and remembers me by name, even though I don't tan every day. You need to make sure you know the cancellation/moving policy when you sign a contract, because it can be pricey to cancel if you sign a 6 or 12 month and don't understand the fine print. It's definitely a lot cheaper to do longer contracts though. They were really good at explaining it to me when I signed up, and it was really easy for my boyfriend to cancel is month to month. Overall, good deal.
This place is an absolute scam! I signed up for one year and at the end was automatically renewed for another. I do not even live near one of these anymore and when I asked if I could cancel they told me I would have to pay for the entire remaining year. I refused to pay for a year I was not going to use and found no other way to get out of it then to cancel my card. I am now receiving threatening phone calls about 4 times a day telling me they are going to sue me etc. Worst Business Ever. I will not pay them and I will dissuade anyone from using this service.
AVOID At The Beach unless you want to be scammed. You will never get them to stop charging your credit card after to sign up and cancel.
Yahoo I never have a tan...I am TAN.....I used beds and started like the lady told me I started at 8 minutes I am up to 20 minutes and I have a good tan line......Yea for me
I love tanning there...keep up the good music.....just do the beds in the winter....like now....but do both beds and spray in summer.....see you soon

Attorney General announces agreement barring tanning chain from misleading consumers during sales process
01/31/2011
DENVER Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that the state has reached a settlement with the Oklahoma-based tanning chain At The Beach that resolves allegations that the company misled consumers about its tanning contracts. The agreement requires At The Beach to pay an estimated $350,000 in consumer restitution, fines and attorney fees and requires that At The Beach halt its deceptive sales practices and record all of its future sales.
This agreement is a victory for the hundred of Colorado consumers who felt that At The Beach was not engaging in fair sales practices, Suthers said. We believe the companys agreement to record all sales transactions will deter future misconduct, and is evidence of the companys desire to change its sales practices.
At The Beach allowed its employees to misrepresent that consumers could cancel their contract at any time, according to the states complaint. Former employees and consumers told investigators that the company failed to disclose that cancellation would require payment of half of the remaining cost of the contract. Consumers also said they first learned of the cancellation fee when they attempted to cancel.
Consumers will be eligible for restitution if they have already filed a written complaint with the Colorado Attorney Generals office or the Better Business Bureau. The Office of the Attorney General estimates that more than $100,000 will be refunded to more than 300 past At The Beach customers. The company also will be required to pay an additional $75,000 to the state to be used to reimburse consumers who file complaints going forward.
The settlement also requires At The Beach to pay a $75,000 fine and $38,500 to cover the costs of the investigation. At The Beach has already reimbursed Colorado consumers approximately $45,000 as a result of the states investigation into At The Beachs credit and collection
Consistent high quality. once a week no wait, immediate service. Frienedly and helpful. I would recommend this.
