39.856311 -105.100055Nasty. Had the Hot Link Sandwich. My meat tasted like dog food and was heated up in the microwave. Nasty place inside, floors were dirty, bathrooms were nasty.
Grate place to have fun, meet new nice people. I loved the fast servis and grate people everyone is verry nice and the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD...i have never been soewhere that makes me fell like im in my home town i give them a 5 star rating for a verry job WELL DONE!!
Awful All Around.
Hoke's was touted as "genuine Texas BBQ"
Silly me, I went in expecting juicy, smoked brisket, sweet-tangy and thick red sauce, and some good southern fixin's as sides.
I found none. The "meat" was flavorless, lacking in color, smoke, texture, moisture and all else that makes BBQ great. It was also horridly overpriced. The sides were all a'la carte and not worth the plates served on. The service was nonexistent.
The place was grimy, dingy, and smelled (Not of good smoke and charcoal, either.)
I wouldn't ever go back, nor would I recommend anyone else bother wasting their money.
Good Experiences.
My wife and I have eaten here a couple times, and have had good experiences each time. I have tried their their "Big Ol Dinner Platter" with brisket, pork, and ribs while my wife has tried the Pork Sandwich. Their meat and sauce is tasty, but probably just on the above average side. The sweet potato fries are a good appetizer to try out as well. The $1 Pabst Blue Ribbon is definitely a good deal as far as cheap beer specials go, so that is a plus.
If you are taking a BBQ tour of Denver, I'd definitely put it on the list.
My Denver disappointment.
I was in the Denver area on busines, when traveling I look for little family run ethnic places, Others obviously had a better experience than I did.
The chopped sandwich was juicy, but completely lacking in any real good smoke flavor.
The spicy or hot sauce had a very narrow sour flavor, not well balanced.
I should have known what to expect from the gumbo when I noticed the box of Minute Rice box on the top shelf in the kitchen.
And when it came time to settle up, my server didn't know the menu well enough to bill me for the sandwich with drink and soup for an additional $4...and she wasn't willing to correct her error when it was pointed out. $6 for the sandwich plus $9 for a bowl of gooey gruel and a soft drink.
This trip, I feasted on Pho, gorged on Gorditas El Pastor, chowed General Tso's Chicken, ate one one of the best Cheeseburgers ever .... and found this place.
blah. SICK , both me and my wife were there on wensday night may 30th 2008 and were very sick from there food , she missed work the next day and i was not much better ,our freindS ate there as well and were sick from the food also , I do not recommend HOKES to any one , watch out not good BBQ
Fair barbecue, crappy service,. A great crowd of people. I've found the service to be sadly lacking. The bbq is sometimes good and sometimes not. A $6.00 chopped beef sandwich. For Colorado bbq its better than the national chains but still not SERIOUS TEXAS BBQ!
Beware. We ate here last weekend. My husband and I both got "sick" from the food. The waitress was less than helpful and would not show us an itemized price list for our bill. The surroundings were cold and I would not recomend this place to anyone. Dont listen to the "great" reviews, they haven't eaten here lately.
The best BBQ in town!. Excellent service, awesome people and atmosphere, great prices, and most importantly....... great food!
The best bbq I've ever had!. I'm absolutely spoiled on the prime rib! I can't order it anywhere else. Best ribs in denver, served with sauce on the side and falling off the bone (truly Texas style). All the bbq is excellent and the prices can't be beat. My kids love it!
