What People Are Saying About Red Square Euro Bistro
The Owner
Red Square Euro Bistro
Owner
Red Square Euro Bistro is staffed with the old crew of the Russian Cafe on Larimer Square. Equal parts contemporary European cooking and traditional Russian fare, the restaurant has developed some intriguing specialties.
Long-time patrons of the Russian Cafe will again be able to savor the traditional Beef Stroganoff, Goulash and Vareniki that have become Denver favorites. Others will favor the new lighter, more European fare prepared by renowned chef Maxim Ionikh.
The decor is an elegant combination of art deco furnishings and traditional Russian accents. The expanded floor plan includes several intimate eating areas: the main dining room--complete with fireplace--the upper dining area, a cozy lounge and a private VIP dining area that can comfortably seat 25. And, of course, a well-stocked vodka bar. The inclusive patio is an oasis in the middle of Downtown Denver.

In Short
The decor includes deep-red walls, dark hardwoods, whimsical artwork and white tablecloths. Icicle-style glass lamps dangle above tables, and a fireplace adds to the cozy feel. A contemporary vodka bar attracts a young after-work crowd, while in the main dining rooms appeal to an older set. Russian chef Maxim Ionikh skillfully presents European cuisine, including beef stroganoff and Kuritsa, a chicken breast rubbed with tarragon-lemon butter, roasted garlic and thyme jus.

I've been to red square numerous times and I thought it finally time to write a view. The food here is phenomenal and its almost a diamond in the rough with every place there is to go in Denver. They have daily dinner specials and that absolutely rock in price, presentation, and taste. Try their charcuterie plate. Now this is one of the few places that infuses their own vodkas in house weekly, not to mention they have some of the best ones i've had. Try their grapefruit and horseradish, its incredible. Max is one amazing bartender and really knows his vodka and service. The weekends are pretty insane there but how can it now be, apparently everyone is catching on. If you want great food, excellent vodka, and a very upbeat crowd then look no further. Welcome to the Square.

Unlike the pretentious tone of some downtown restaurants - The Red Square is refreshing and warm with great atmosphere and attentive staff. Complement this with its delightfully delicious menu served with crusty traditional European bread and you have a fabulous Denver resto tucked into a cozy corner of Writers Square. Our friendly waiter and host made us feel like we were family with excellent service. Once you're there, try some infused vodka before your meal. I like mine served straight up as a martini. Fig infused vodka, although it sounds a bit strange, is flavorful and delicious. You'll feel you've taken a trip back to your favorite European city...Actually, my boyfriend and I will be taking another trip to Russia very soon and it's only a couple blocks away...

I have wondered if these people are trying to run a business and for whom does it work. There was a bartender with salt and pepper hair who seemed to have some pride in what he did who made the place enjoyable. The food was also better then, maybe he cooked as well. Since then the staff seems to be concerned with cigarette breaks, frowning, little effort, and watching the time go by. I like the decor except the 6 month bathroom remodel, and the vodka, but at this point in the economy go where someone wants you, and has good food as well. These folks should disband - the frowns and lethargy may be contagious.

Where to Sit:
When the weather is nice, opt for the private patio. It's tucked back in Writer Square with a view of passers-by, instead of drivers-by.
The Extras:
Vodkas from around the world abound here, with Russian brands dominating the list. Infusions may be sweet or peppery, but most guests prefer to drink it straight up.
