Good ideas, Poor Execution.
While the recipes at Zengo are good, the actual food was not of the highest quality. For example, the Won Ton Tacos are a great idea, with Charred Ahi, pickled ginger and mango salsa -- but the
ingredients were not fresh. As the waiter mentioned, the produ...ct had been prepared in the morning, and were not prepared to order.
Similarly the Kombu Cured Hamachi looked amazing on the menu, but with soggy cucumbers and lukewarm blood orange, the flavors were mushed together. Recommend that they look at getting local ingredients and prepare the dishes to order.
Seems as if they are trying to copy the much more popular Sushi Samba (NYC, MIA, LV) without the ability to buy the same quality products.…
Opinions are like A-holes.....
I'm not sure what most people on this forum are used to eating but apparently it involves a trip to Florence every night with their own personal staff waiting on them hand and foot.
As far as I'm concerned with Zengo It's by far one of the best restaurants in Denver. Granted it's no cheesecake factory with their high dollar and oh so fetchy menu items... (Sarcasm) The variety and ideas at Zengo were unique, rare, and definitely a treat! One person mentioned too salty. I venture to wonder if they have McDonalds for lunch? The ONLY salty item I encountered was the edimame. Too salty to where it was unbearable? Absolutely not! In fact if things were too unbearable to eat believe me, we wouldn't have stayed and kept on eating!
Overall please remember different strokes for different folks, and if you're going to base your dining experience on other peoples opinions remember they are just that, and that you should formulate your own opinion about a place. Don't take my word for it! Go, try new things, and enjoy!…
Skip Zengo. We went here for my b-day based on recommendations. Very expensive, which is fine if you get great food. Service was slow and unhelpful, and food was almost salty to the point of being inedible. Maybe this place was good once, but obviously has gone down hill. The only thing they managed to get right was the salad. With all the great restaurants out there, many of which are cheaper, I can't think of a single reason to go here.…
Not worth it. The food wasn't amazing in my opinion- but it was good. I do prefer the ceviche at the owners other restaurant, Tamayo. It's a bit overpriced in my opinion but it would be a nice spot for happy hour.
Get over it. Boring food and too loud..
Chef Sandoval needs to revisit his menu at Zengo. Boring! Expensive! In case you have not noticed, it's a new restaurant game out there. We want value and will not settle for oily salty fried
rice.
Used to be the place to go, WAS very trendy, now it's passe. Skip it. And if you are considering his other place Tamayo...save your money. It's wildly expensive. Geared towards tourist. Poor unknowing tourist. My recommendation is to try Vesta Dipping Grill in lodo or Venice.…
