Authentic SoCal taco shop - finally!
by namronz
I'm from San Diego. Lived there for 9 years. I prefer Colorado for many reasons, but I did miss the SD taco shops. They are everywhere in SoCal and it's hard to find a bad one. I've lived in the Denver area for 9 years now and I've been adventurous and tried a few of the local taco shops - with invariably terrible results. Deep-fried mystery meat chicken in a burrito? Gravy?? Cold tortillas? Flavorless pico de giao? Who eats this stuff??
Moved to Aravada and decided to try Ralibertos. I just about flipped. Their food is JUST AS GOOD as the SD taco shops. Perhaps better! The right flavors, amazing tortillas . . fantastic. Now, are you going to get an occasional bite of grizzle in the carne asada or carnitas? Sure. That's expected from a taco shop. Is it fine-dining in any way shape or form? Absolutely not. It's a hole in the wall taco bell renovation with poor ventilation and a backwards drive-thru. The staff does not speak a lot of English and doesn't care. Bottom line: it's great food served fast by skillful yet slightly annoyed non-English-speakers, i.e. the full taco shop experience, and for this Ralibertos is by far the best in Denver.
- Pros: Authentic taco shop mexican food
- Cons: Staff isn't exacly friendly/professional (but who cares)
