Elaine is GONE?!.
My 5 Stars are for Elaine, even though she has left this shop.
She is now at The Hair Escape on 104th & Washington (10275 Washington St 80229 - 303 252 1288) and I'm so lucky to have found her!!
If you want a great haircut, you should go find her, too!!
best service! and staff. I love going to this shop! Everyone is so friendly and nice... I always get a wonderful hair cut.. they are very well trained.. I have never ( in the 5 years I've been going) received an awful cut or service for that matter.. they all do a wonderful job.
Fail-tastic Service.
There comes a time in every man's life where his wife's hair has grown enough for split ends and general existence makes trimming the long, straight hair a needed process. So I was prepared with smart phone in hand and some work to do for a moderate wait involving the much-lauded shampoo service and some educated work from a stylist who could evaluate how much of the damaged ends needed to come off. Perhaps some discussion with the client to determine the best course of action and avoid any surprises, and in the end a professional execution of a relatively simple task.
Entry into the store found no wait with one stylist currently working on another client and a second stylist able to assist immediately. Off they went while I took a seat in the lobby and prepared to get some work email done. Now, I've been known to lose track of time when working, however in this case, it literally -was- only five minutes before I heard my wife's confused voice and the stylist requesting payment. I squelched my confusion at the dryness of her hair for that moment and with only one email read and half-answered, I was heading out the door monetarily poorer and peering curiously at the apparently nearly-untouched hair on her head.
Only when we were outside did the full story come out...
Apparently the stylist was eating when she came to assist and was speaking with a mouthful off food. My wife ignored her gut feeling (something she will not be doing too often anymore) and took a seat. The stylist attempted to comb her hair. With a comb. Through 18 inch long hair that she had been well-advised had split ends. This of course was a complete failure, therefore my wife ended up brushing her own hair and being told she would need to stand up for the process. Several snips and she was told "Okay, that's about two inches." by the stylist. Her response was "Okay..." and concern about the snippy attitude and state of the results were about to come out, but she turned to find the stylist already walking away from her to the front register. "I have to pay fifteen dollars for this?" was the only question she was able to get out on the way to the register, to which a curt "Yes" was the answer. That was the part that interrupted me from writing work email.
A credit transaction at 11:30, five minutes later, with the name Alicia on the receipt upon investigation later. I'll take two minutes for communication, but I'll even be kind enough to grant the time that my wife had to spend brushing her own hair because this trained professional did not know how to deal with longer hair. Fifteen dollars for the three remaining minutes equates to $300 an hour.
The end result was of the utmost lack of quality, with the basic failure in process resulting in effective theft by Fantastic Sam's under the guise of a service. It would be like going to a full service car wash and being charged $15 for them to wash half your windshield with a malformed squeegee and call it done.
If this kind of experience is considered acceptable for the "Fantastic" service that is claimed to be offered, then the corporate chain as a whole needs an overhaul before anybody in their right mind should visit it. The fact that this situation COULD and DID occur sheds great doubt on the capability of Fantastic Sam's to make good on its service claims.
The Verdict:
Don't take your chances. While you might get excellent service, the strong possibility of a Fantastic Nightmare exists. Find a business that vets their employees better.
