Shoddy work
by beye99
I hired Handyman matters to hang drywal and cement board and install a tub. I have had to fix most of the work they did. They drywalled over my airvent, left the light switch plate sticking out past the drywall so there was no way to put a cover around the switch, cut a hole for the light box that wasn't over the light box so I had to cut a bigger hole and repair it in order to install the light fixture, cracked the cement board on the floor, left the cement board in the shower uneven and unstable (it moved whenever you touched it).
To add insult, they charged my credit card when I specifically told them I wanted to pay by check instead (which they agreed to). A few weeks after they charged my card for the entire amount a mysterious charge of $130 appeared on my card. In between the two charges, I had them come out to cut a hole for the airvent. I guess Handyman Matters believes their customers should pay extra to have them fix their shoddy work. They had to come out an additional time to fix the problem with the light switch and left me a bill for $65...for removing two nails.
I've been trying to resolve the problem with the owner for two weeks but she doesn't seem to think there is a problem. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
