Not for karaoke.
I had a hard time trying to rate this place. As a bar, I would have given it 3 stars. The prices are great! so if you're looking for a cheap place with decent food, this is the place. The staff seem to be having a lot of fun, and if you know the staff, the service is great!!
My friends and I were sitting at the bar and I saw so many times where the bartender was just rude. I thought maybe it was just to that one customer, but then I saw this happen over and over again with other customers. There were 2 bartenders at the time and the shorter bartender was unbelievably rude to people. I'm glad that he didn't serve me.
I've been here twice and both times the noise level was out of control. It was hard hear people talking to you only 2 feet from your face. So if you can imagine, the music is blasting out of control and everyone is screaming to talk to people, it was pretty crazy.
So for price, food & service I would have given it 3 stars. But I had to compromise since I came here only for the karaoke, which I would have given just 1 star. Due to my experience here with karaoke, I will never return here again.
I've never seen karaoke DJ like this guy before. He obviously had his regulars who got up to sing over and over again . But both times I went, my party never got to sing. We saw the same people get up and sing 2 & 3 songs. But he never put the new comers in. So if he knows you and every person that the DJ knows puts in 5 songs when they get there, the new people coming in don't get a chance in hell to sing. Most DJ's will put in new singers in the rotation between old singers. I was pretty upset the first time, but thought maybe it was a fluke, or maybe he lost our song request slips... So I tired it again a month later. Nope it's not a fluke. The DJ suck!!! There are too many other places to go for karaoke. Since we only came for karaoke, we will not be spending our time or money at a place where the DJ is obviously so full of himself, because he has his little groupie and is completely inconsiderate to the other patron.
My wife and I ate there for first time. We were choicing between Monas and Sobo 151. It was a Saturday around 1PM.
Our service was very good. The waitress suggested a Czech beer that was excellent. Prices are reason food quantitiy & quality were good.
She had their omlette. It was very good. Lots of vegetibles and cheese. The potoatoes also were excellent.
I had the goulash. The meat was moist, not dry recooked tasting. We had to get spoon so my wife could put some of the gravy on her potaoes. The Czech dumplings were very good, moist. These are not German potatoe dumplings.
We saw the apple strudel. The people at table (3) shared and still took some home.
PS - The owner is son of the owner of Prague Cafe which we also have eaten at. If sports bar atmosphere does not bother you THIS IS GREAT
Euro style place with Pilsner Urquell on tap.
Good after-work bar with decent happy hour prices (and specials of some sort any time of the evening). For the European soccer fan, this is the place to go, with a big screen TV playing always playing a game of some sort. A few pool tables are set up in the back. We've always enjoyed good service and cold beers. I haven't gone for any of the entrees, but the apps are pretty good. Try the Czech pancakes or the cold platter. Definitely a locals hangout right on the border of the Baker District.
