I am in SHOCK!. I just moved back after being gone a year to find out that Sparrow is closed and replaced with a horrible horrble pizza place.............what in the world happened!

Nancy, please open another!!! Sparrow is sadly closed. To those of you reading these reviews, Sparrow is no longer open.

It was once a wonderful restaurant with a fantastic staff and wonderful food. My favorites were the tuna on tuna appetizer, the Tuscan Seafood Bouillabaisse entree, and the ?Sparrow? which was a wonderful white Sangria.

I?ll forever be grateful of the wonderful memories I have of this place.

Not as advertised - everything too salty!!. Visiting from the east coast, we were told to check out Sparrow. From reading some of these reviews, we expected a stellar experience. However, we were more than disappointed. First, because there was practically no one in there, the hostess was our waitress and was very difficult to find - mostly she was at the bar clear at the other end of the restaurant.

We ordered a very expensive bottle of wine and she was never around to pour it or put in on ice.,

When she finally took the food order - we waited, expecting it to be delicious but everyting was sub-par to terrible. First, the 'lettuce wraps' were presented in a way that I had to do all the work - the chicken pieces were too big - the vegs were too big - it was all a big job to get it to a place where I could actually wrap them. My husband had the tuna which was so salty that he couldn't even eat it.

I then had the chopped salad which likewise was overloaded with salt. My husband could not even eat his entree. Granted - we have high standards for cuisine. My husband is the chef/owner of a five-star restaurant in Massachusettes - but usually we can find something that is exceptional or at a minimum good - not here. It's a beautiful space though.

unprofessional. I've been going to Sparrow for about a year now and Im never disappointed with the food or the service.

One thing I can point out is that the owner is not genuinely nice and almost every time I had dinner there she was wasted at the bar, it's a little unprofessional!

Excellent atmosphere and food. My husband and I ate here last weekend, and it was fabulous! We were able to have a very relaxing, unrushed dinner, and the food was exceptional. The service was a tiny bit spotty, but the great food and atmosphere completely made up for that. We also enjoyed the diverse crowd. Highly recommend it!

Tweet, Tweet, Find Another Place to Eat.. Sparrow restaurant couldn't be more appropriately named. Considering the miniscule portions in relation to the prices, this is not a place I'd return to. The ambiance was nice but very, very noisy. The service was mediocre at best. I had the expectation of spending an evening with great food and friends. I still have the friends. The great food will have to wait for another place and time.

A happy, delicious, incredible time!!!!. Went to Sparrow after reading the great reviews on Citysearch and was thoroughly impressed. The decor was beautiful and the hostess was rock solid! We were seated with no wait and our waitress was genuinely smiley. Ordered the veal and was just melt in your mouth incredible. Also tasted the mussels (a ton of mussels for an app) and the lamb lollipops - both incredibly healthy portions for apps. The back patio is just where it's at. Met the owners and the bar manager and everyone was just so nice and genuinely happy. Will be back!!! Happy birthday to our waitress. And Nancy, GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!!!

No butter slathered dished instead they prepare superb creative food. You must try this one!. Superb creative food with something for everyone. Ambiance too!

We visited on Friday, early in the evening so there was no need for reservations. They filled up slowly, but even with more tables occupied we were able to hear each other talk with no strain.

The restaurant is modern chic with a great patio and bar area with an amazing deal for happy hour. We actually dinned at a table forgoing the happy hour deals. The menu is creative with top quality ingredients. They have a menu section for ?Light Fare? but you would never know it by the taste. The Jumbo Shrimp Wraps are fabulously flavorful with beautiful presentation. From the regular menu the bass dish was prepared light but fresh tasting, what you would expect from a five star establishment.

I checked out the kitchen which you can see from the table area and the staff was impressively professional. I don?t know about you but I?ll take a serious focused kitchen staff over a bunch of jack-offs any day.

Service was excellent and we are planning to make this a regular on our dining rotation! It?s perfect to meet a friend or date. Menu prices are comparable to others in it?s category, but lower than Mezaluna which is close in proximity. There is also more menu selection than Mezaluna.

Well, at least you have atmosphere. I recently found Sparrow nestled in a quant neighborhood blocks from the downtown area. It looked fabulous, and due to its location, I expected a warm genuine dining experience. At first it seemed to be what I was looking for. We began our meal with a beautiful arugala salad perfectly dressed. Amazing rustic bread that was still warm. As the night became later, patrons at the bar wearing afixiated plastic assesories inturrupted my easy dinner conversation with loud laughter each time they frequented the bathroom. Finally, our bouilliabase (I will now attempt to critique what I cannot spell) came on an enormous plate that our table could not accomidate with the bread, water and wine (wine list is so-so, server made excellent recommendation). The calimari entirely lost its texture since it had been drown too long, and it was as though they added extra salt to the seafood dish. Hmm.... It won't be my new favorite place. Service was good, but not great... Server seemed nervous and didn't seem to like working there. Overall, too pretentious for Denver, and too cowtown for New York. Nice interior design.
