Denver >Luciano's Restaurant
Best Pizza in the Golden Triangle. Great Pizza and even better wings !!! I love the South Buffalo Wings extra crispy.
worst service of all time. i had a terrible experience at lucianos. i placed an order at 645pm and was told it was going to be 50 minutes. after one hour and 30 minutes i had not received my food yet. i called and they said he will be there "any second." After one hour and fifty minutes, nearly TWO HOURS later, i received my food. then, to make things even worse, my order was incorrect. when i called them they first ignored my calls then finally picked up and said too bad you have to pay for it anyways. i am planning on taking action against them as i should not have to pay for an incorrect order. it is the equivalent of stealing and i am not going to let it slide.
Awful Food Worse Service.
Wish I could give Zero stars for this awful establishment. As a customer and former employee I can tell you the owner/manager Kris Ferreri could care less about the customer and customer service. Numerous times I have seen him get angry at customers for him screwing up their order. He serves food that has been expired to save a buck. After closing for a month because he could not pay his taxes, he asked employees to serve green moldy wings that were in the walk in freezer. He simply asked them to "rinse off the chicken wings, and they will be fine " I Personally saw him serve food that dropped on the floor because he was too high to realize it was on the ground. Then just picked it up and put it back in with the non tainted food. I also saw a review about someone complaining the manager looked like he was drunk or high. Well that would be because he was drunk and high. He locks himself in his office with a couple pints of beer and god knows what else for hours at a time, while on the job i might add. He regularly cheats his employees of hours and has a rotating door of stoners that work behind the counter. There are too many good pizza places in Denver to waste your money at this dump. Sexy pizza, Benny Blancos, Nicolos are all great choices in the downtown/capital hill area.
-*Update* owner is threatening me for telling reviewers the truth about his failing business, Just an example of how he operates.
Great Pizza for the family.
I love this place, my kids love it and every time my family comes out to visit they ask to come here. I get the cheese or margarita pizza, they use so many toppings and they don’t short you on the sauce or cheese. At any other place I have to ask for extra sauce and cheese…but not Luciano’s. My sister and son always get the wings, they are huge and in their words…”the best I’ve ever eaten”. My daughter, who is totally picky, loves the spaghetti and bread sticks. I’m not sure what other people who write negative reviews have an issue with; I haven’t had a negative experience there. It does sometimes seem like every time I’m there, different people are behind the counter but the food is always great.
I would recommend the cheese pizza and the medium, hot, or Jamaican jerk Buffalo wings. Since I live in Westminster and Luciano’s is down town, I usually do take out. Also check on line for the specials, there are some specials that are dine in or take out only and its definitely worth the trip. I usually save $5-10 just by ordering the specials and picking it up, it also is ready faster.
This Restaurant is a Vicious Slander on the Good Name of NY.
Pros: Not as expensive as good food.
Um, they have TVs.
Cons: Unhealthy (not due to nutrition, due to cleanliness).
Overpriced for dogfood.
Surly manager who uses profanity on customers.
Untrained staff that seem to have just gotten out of rehab.
Every slice has been aging under a heat lamp since appx. 1972.
Even when fresh, in 1972, slices were terrible.
Italian sausage tastes strongly as though it were made from stray cat.
My stomach starts turning whenever I get closer than 500 feet from this place. I got sick from eating here. I complained to the owner/manager/con man who runs the place and he told me to f#*! off! Maybe I just came at the wrong time, since there are some good reviews on here, but I sort of think that the only real use for this place is a testing ground for gastro-intestinal daredevils who like living on the edge. It's like Russian Roulette for your colon.
Pizza Sauce is actually Tomato Soup.
Newly returned to reside in the heart of the city, we were looking for our first home delivery pizza joint. As we prefer to patronize mom-and-pops rather than the corporate chains, I started my search online. Not too many locals are listed in Google for this neighborhood (South Capitol Hill or West Washington Park - 80203) but I did land on Luciano’s minimalist web page so we took our chances.
The guy who answered the phone has some kind of ADD or dyslexia and he couldn’t figure out the numbers…like our street address, our apartment number, and I had to repeat my credit card number to him five times before he got it right (kinda like Tommy Chong’s character on “That ‘70s Show”. The kid who made the delivery declared that there was no address on the pizza and he had to call me three times to find out where our address was (we live in an average apartment building…no weird address…easy to find…I was actually out on my balcony waving to him and he still couldn’t find it). Oh yeah…when he finally pulled-up to my building, the transmission on his clap-trap of a van wouldn’t go into park, only reverse…and when he finally did get it to stop, his engine wouldn’t turn off and driver door wouldn’t close…what fun!
The pizza was okay, lots of cheese anyway, toppings were rather minimal. But, when I told my roommate that the sauce wasn’t great, he commented that it tasted like it was straight out of a can of Campbell’s Tomato Soup (or the generic stuff from the dollar store). It sure tasted like it to me, too…no Italian spices, too sweet and rather blah. Could it be?
Luciano’s really needs to rethink their pizza sauce, among a whole lot of other things. Oh yeah…and we were overcharged, too.
Time to try another pizza joint.
NEVER AGAIN!. I will NEVER order from Luciano's again! My friends and I had heard they had great wings and pizza and decided to try it out. We went on to their menu online and saw they had two specials: a dine in special and a take out special. We obviously ordered the take out (since it was being delivered). It was for a large pizza, double wings, breadsticks and a 2 liter of soda for $25+tax. The food shows up, and all we got is the pizza and the wings. When we called down there to inform them we hadn't received our entire order, the guy on the phone said something along the lines of "well thats what you ordered, it's not my fault you found a better deal and want your money back. We have two specials and you obviously ordered the wrong one. not my problem". First of all, we didn't order the wrong special, or find a better one... there were only two, the dine in and the take out. He then HUNG UP ON ME!!!! I called back again and asked to speak to his manager or the owner, and he said they were too busy for this sh*t and that if I wanted to speak to someone I'd have to come down there! Well, I had company over so I wasn't about to just leave them there while I worked out something that should have been handled immediatly. He then hung up on me AGAIN! My boyfriend called at that moment and the man working there continued to be rude, unprofessional and in no way helpful. He hung up on my boyfriend several times as well. We continued to call, just hoping to get a manger on the phone, and this rude guy just kept picking it up and hanging up on us! We then decided to let it go and we'd just go down there the next day and speak to the manager. About an hour later there are two police officers at my dor because the man at the pizza place called them and wanted to charge us with harrassment!!!! Seriously?! When we explained to the cops what ACTAULLY happened, they ended up leaving knowing they didn't have a leg to stand on. Jokes on them though, we're filing charges against Luciano's for stealing. :) Moral of the story. Never order from them. Oh and the food was terrible, I think thats what made the whole thing worse! The Pizza was terrible, and the wings were so so.... I guess they were also too busy to make good food.
Used to be good..... I write this feeling very sad. I remember Luciano's being delicious like two years ago. I'm not sure what's happened to their service, food, and cleanliness, but there's no way I can recommend this place anymore. The owner is surly and ill tempered, the staff seems to have no regard for basic sanitation, and the food... The food these days borders on inedible, I saw the staff go directly from handling money to handling food, without washing, and when I complained the manager told me that if the place was so bad I should leave.
Bad service, mediocre pizza. I recently ordered a pizza for delivery (over $17 for a two topping medium!). When it arrived it was burnt and pretty much inedible. As this was my third bad experience, I give up on this place. The dine-in service is consistently bad. I've stopped in there twice and it was at least a ten minute wait to get a slice (although the first time it was longer since they apparently forgot that I had ordered). I've read Luciano's responses to the other bad reviews and am outraged. Instead of promising to look into the problems, Luciano's response was pretty much "take your business elsewhere." No need to let me know this Luciano's, I've already decided to take my business elsewhere and suggest others do the same.
Don't waste your money and time. This will be the last time I will order food from luciano's. I live right around the corner and so it is convenient for me, so I have ordered about a half dozen times. The first time I tried the pizza and thought it was nasty, it was doughy, the sauce comes from big cans behind the counter and taste like paste and the cheese has no flavor. The next time I tried the wings because I heard good things. I was impressed the first time but since then things have slipped. Recently I went there and the wings where so overcooked they were rubbery, tough and the sauce was salty and generic. So I gave them another chance thinking it was just an off night. But this time the wings were undercooked and raw, not safe to eat. After this I thought it was time to say something I told the manager about the undercooked wings and was told there was nothing wrong with them. I was afraid to get a new order based on the demeanor of the manager and didn't want my food "messed with". I am stoked that new pizza places are opening up in the neighborhood, so I will not be eating here again. I don't know how a place like this started well but slipped so bad, I don't think it will last long. This review will hopefully help someone from wasting there hard earned money and time on terrible food and service.
