Tips for Irish Snug Restaurant & Bar

I have been in a few times now, and have always liked the food drinks and atmosphere. I was in today and my server, Ally, was amazing, I asked if she was new because I hadn't seen her before and she said it was one of her first shifts. She was polite, energetic, and always smiling. I could see her acting the same way towards her other guests. The service was awesome and she was attentive and helpful. This was refreshing because a lot of bars on Colfax have servers who are aloof and almost "annoyed" by the fact that they are serving people. The whole staff was wonderful and you could tell everyone was helping everyone with a smile on their faces. I will definatley be back. Great Staff, great food, and nicley priced drinks. The bartender was also very nice to us as well. Good selection and brunch menu was delicious. $9 all-you-can-drink mimosas didn't hurt either

Potato Pie. I just ate the shephards pie at the Irish Snug. The thing was like 75 percent potato. There couldn't have been more than a table spoon of meat in it. I mean it was potato done well, but I really had more in mind for dinner than a plate of potato with a tiny bit of meat and a few peas in a little gravey. True, it only cost ten dollars, but for ten dollars would it have hurt to put some meat in it. The menu said that it would have meat in it, but it really didn't. So if you're hungry for potatoes, get the shepherd pie at the Irish Snug.

Awful service. No parking. Food was NOT authentic, and cold by the time my server brought it to the table.

Love the snug, but it's not what it used to be. The Irish Snug is my favorite bar in Denver. I've been going since 2005 (though irregularly since the basement was added) and I've always loved the look and feel. It's as close as you can get to experiencing an Irish pub without having to skip over the pond to Dublin.

However, since the basement was added a while back, it went from a tight-knit and down-to-earth regular crowd to it becoming a trendier, busier bar with lots of frat boys.

I'd still recommend it, especially during warm summer days and whenever the trad group is playing. They have great happy hour deals and their curry chips are great!

No one cares so it must be the management. Went in the middle of the day during the week. Day shift bartender (female) disappeared several times as she was trying to get off work? To tired or something. Finally a decent waiter came up and got me a beer and an order of chips before I bailed out of the joint. Change the crew reap the rewards.

Great piece of Dublin in the heart of Denver. Stopped by here for a quick few drinks before the English Beat concert last Thursday and couldn't have been happier. 2 for 1 happy hour and $3.95 appetizers (try the Irish eggrolls! sound f@{[ing gross but taste great). Oh and they have $3 Car Bombs!!!!! The bartender kept our glasses full and he even told us to cash in our free drink tickets at 7 so as not to miss the end of happy hour. Their Snug red ale is a good choice, but the Guinness here is unbeatable especially when poured properly by a real Dubliner. We came back after the show and to get some food and some more car bombs and they had $3 pints till close. All in all a great irish bar with great service, apparently they have live music on Wednesdays and Saturdays too.

Downstairs is a hidden treasure!. Every time I go to the Snug I have a great time. The crowd is a more easy going, friendly crowd just enjoying a good beer. The happy hour is a really good deal: Monday through Friday from 4-7 2 for 1's and really great appetizer prices...you have to try to corned beef eggrolls...AMAZING! The bar gets crowded so of course service will be slow. I hosted an event with 80 people and they didn't staff the downstairs bar as it should have been but I blame that on management, not the servers or bartenders...they were great! Try out Trivia downstairs on a Tuesday, the place gets packed!

ick!. I went here once during happy hour and I thought it was great so I went back again when i had a friend visiting from out of town. We sat at the bar and ordered food and things were great-until a "creature of the night" scurried its way across the counter! TWICE! The bartender didn't even seemed surprised when we told her. We were not comped for anything and simply told "sorry." I will not go there simply based on this fact.

The absolute worst!. By the far the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. St. P's day is the day to shine of you are an Irish establishment...instead food was served in microwaveable dishes, the corned beef was surely Hormel Sliced Corned beef readily availible at any grocery store, and the potatoes were surely dried mashed potatoes. Our server was so slow it was ridiculous. I know its a busy day for any Irish food place, but come on - the chefs/food defrosters should be embarrassed.

BEST HH AND LATE NIGHT! In Denver!. AWESOME LATE NIGHT, HAPPY HR (HAPPYNESS IN GENERAL), AND ALL THE TIME GREAT COMPANY!!! I am dissapointed though that the patio does not alow dogs anymore! I brought my 2 malamutes to the snug a few days ago and they (and I and our waitress) were VERY upset with the HI's decision to reject our furry guests. The servers seemed sorry as well! The only quam I have with the service is the bartender......Erin?? Eric??? something of the sort... very rude. But thanks for the great time!!! Thanks!!!
