Editorial Review for Peoria Bar & Grill – by Lori Midson

In Short
This handsomely appointed restaurant in The Timbers Hotel has two dining rooms: One is a more casual area with sage-green booths and dark-wood tables, the other has white linen-topped tables. Both rooms offer modern American cuisine with flavors from around the world. Graze on starters of barbecued tiger prawns, antipasto, and fire-roasted Asian chicken wings before delving onto main dishes like achiote-marinated marlin, linguine carbonara or the mustard-crusted pork chop with calvados cream.

My husband and I went to this restaurant after seeing good reviews of it and hearing about it on the local restaurant show. We were very disappointed. The restaurant was under new managment as of the night that we went. It was freezing in the restaurant! The menu was small. My husband ordered a pasta dish and I ordered a Buffalo Mozzerella Chicken dish. My husband's food came, and with it, the waitress brought me a Buffalo Chicken salad. When I said the dish was wrong, she told me that she had grabbed the wrong plate and that mine was under the warming lamp, she'd be right back. Over 20 minutes passed before anyone came back to us. My husband went ahead and ate; he said the food was passable. Finally, another waiter saw that I wasn't eating and asked if there was a problem. After we told him, he got the order straightened out for us to take home- another 20 minutes later. Our original server never did come by the table until it was time to give us our bill. My husband asked for my meal to be taken off of the bill. I'm surprised he had to ask after that. They did not remove the whole entree from the bill. MOST of it, yes, but not all. Insult to injury. After that awful service, we'll never go back again.

My husband and I went there for dinner while staying at the Timbers next door. We were very surprised at how tasty the food was. I got the risotto salmon and it was so delicious!!! It was very rich so I couldn't finish it all, but I'd certainly go back to this place again.

Pros: Delicious food

Cons: The area it's located it isn't the best.
