Steubens Cayenne Etouffee.
The word “cayenne” can often signal intense heat, but in this case, the spice was just right, and the etouffee excellent. Everything from the shrimp to the sausage to the chunks of tomato in the broth were flavorful. Steubens is most often known for their amazing lobster roll, and I would still say it is the best thing on that menu, but this should not be overlooked, particularly on a cold day.
Disapointed. I was told this was the best place to go for a late night out. I got the monty cristo and fries The monty was small and the fries should have been cooked a little while longer. I was shocked when the bill came. I guess thats the price you pay for a trendy place.
Average food high priced. Went for the first time today. Reviews were very good so I gave it a shot. After looking over the menu decided on a hot dog. What can you expect from a dog right? Anyways if you want to follow the crowd and blow some cash this is your place.
Yummy AND Groovy. Steuben's is a great brunch spot for all the right reasons - a diverse selection of interesting brunch choices, great coffee, friendly service, and a buzzy, bright atmosphere. I love that the restaurant decor feels so hip and cool and mod, but so many of the people who roll in for brunch (including me) look like they just fell out of bed after a really late night. It's like having a late breakfast in your really cool friend's really cool house. I have had pancakes (great) and a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese (great great). The food is all really fresh, very tasty, best ingredients, and brought straight to your table when ready. They use high quality breads, have good cappucino and lattes, and you can tell they really care about the quality of the food they put out. Haven't been here for dinner yet but will look forward to going. The atmosphere is so nice and relaxed.
Comfort food at a comfortable price in comfortable seats, with comfortable servers in comfortable clothes who are comfortable with their straightness .
The portions are generous (except for the salads - let's make it a MEAL, kids), and I'm partial to the meatleaf. I was also partial to the bbq beef brisket - so It was perfect.
Try the baked meatballs, try the shrimp & grits, try the greek salad, try the burger, try the skirt steak.I would recommend to anyone or everyone.
Great Meatloaf! Awesome employees.. I was in Steubens for the first time last Tuesday night and absolutely loved it! The bartender (Courtney, I think?) suggested the meatloaf special and it was really good. My husband got the trout which was also amazing. The atmosphere was great and everyone that worked there seemed really nice. Parking was a little hard to find but it wasn't that big of a deal. I can't wait to go back!
eeehhhhhh. I went to Steuben's with my wife on Thursday night to get some dinner because a friend had recommended it. We normally like to sit at the bar when we go out because we feel you get better service, but when we got to Steuben's that night we didn't find the half dressed, butt hanging out bartenders to our taste. seemed a little trashy. Anyways, we got a table and it took about 15 min to get our drinks which seemed to be because the bartenders were to busy partying. Our food was great! Loved the gravy fries! Service was also good although they seemed a little flustered. Overall I think we will come back just not at night during party time.
Nice atmosphere, good quality. A little more variety, though?. I have eaten countless times at Steubens--their dishes are creative (although almost too complicated on some) and good quality. I recommend their plain egg sandwiches or the french toast (although the caramel sauce is a bit over the top--I would suggest getting it on the side) for breakfast. Their burgers, pork chops, grilled vegetables and chicken are all superb--perfectly cooked, fantastic quality--down to the sandwich buns which are superb quality. I would suggest that they branch out from shredded iceburg lettuce to at least a Romaine on their sandwiches, however--it does not do them justice. A downside is that most dishes come without a side included, except for some of the entrees, and these can run you a few dollars a piece--but all are great, from the roasted vegetables to the homemade biscuits, to the excellent fruit cups and their long, thin French fries. The food is a little pricey, but it is good quality--this is not your local greasy spoon. Alcholic beverages are also steep although the bar area is a great place to relax after work or to wait for your table (usually there are not long waits even though the restaurant is usually packed). Their desserts are pretty good-from the butterscotch pudding to the (slightly too sweet) coconut cake. I haven't had the brownie a la mode, but it looks ridiculously good! The service is always friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is great--retro/funk with comfortable seating (including patio and outdoor seating on 17th) and there is even a free (albeit small) parking lot. It's always clean indoors and out. My one suggestion would be that they change up their menu to offer more variety and healthier options--most items (e.g. the fried corn (yum), mashed potatoes, or items with fattening aioli spreads) are not good for the hips or the arteries. Also, I am surprised that they open at a late 10am on Sat and Sun for brunch! Overall, I heartily recommend Steubens as a great place to eat or hang.
Yum! What great comfort food!. Sparking fun and delightful service buoys this eating establishment mellow cuisine. A mellow Monday night crowd was the perfect setting for a first-time experience. We cannot wait to go back!
great drinks. having read almost all the reviews of the place I find it hard to think that most people know what they are talking about. I eat at steubens all the time, while everything everytime is not perfect I respect the fact that they try damn hard and if I have an issue they fix it. One note for all of you doubters TALK TO A MANAGER. That goes for any restaurant not just Steubens. The prices are right on the portions are more than big the food is solid and the staff is good. I feel that most of the people that complain on here are the ones that would rather be eating at a big chain that tastes the same anywhere in the world with "chefs" pouring food out of microwavable bags than support independants.
