Terrible Service and Treatment.
We were very disappointed last night at this restaurant. We frequent a Benihana's several times a year, and most specially when we entertain guests and clients. Our bill last night was 289.00 pre-tip. We always enjoy our experience, and this is money well spent.
Last night the ENTIRE staff was awful. When we arrived (with reservations), there were only 2 tables with ANY people in them. Yet, it took over 15 minutes for us to get our drinks and an order in for sushi. I actually had went to the restroom, saw our waiter leaning on the bar (after leaving us alone for 10 minutes), and when EXITING the restroom, had to ask him to at least come take our sushi/appetizer order.
The cook knew absolutely NOTHING Japanese, and was completely lifeless. The presentation of our meal was just outright boring, even thought the quality of the food was good. It's almost uncomfortable to sit in front of, and be cooked for by someone not qualified, and especially not exited about doing this job...
The worst part was when we asked to speak to the manager. (11/04/2009, @ 7:00PM MST). He didn't care in the least that we were unhappy, and expressing our thoughts about how this once very fun place to go had slid so far. He actually told us that 'this was not how they did things anymore', and 'they NEVER' had this kind of atmosphere', and basically just sent us on our way with NO apologies at all. In fact, was just cold and very rude...
His overall appearance was ragged, and his condescending, non-caring, attitude was reflected by the employees that worked at this restaurant.
It might seem that when 5 guests come in and spend over 300.00 for a meal, we could get something a little special. This experience was the opposite of that, and it will be a while before i (or anyone I know) goes back there.
