No Yolk, Lunch is Lame.
I keep giving this place another chance. I work nearby and eat lunch out often. The Egg and I would appear to offer a nice break from the usual lunch options. Today, I ordered soup, a half-sandwich and an ice tea. The ridiculously large bowl of potato soup that I got had the consistency of wallpaper paste. OK, that may be pushing it a bit, but really if I wanted to eat a huge bowl of mashed potatoes for lunch, well I would be in a carbo-coma right now. The tuna salad on a single soggy English muffin did not fare much better. Neither the waitress nor the cashier seemed to care that my meal was less than satisfactory. You know when you get the stardard, "How was everything?" question, but when you give an honest answer, you get a blank stare back, as if they have no idea how to respond. And, as mentioned, this wasn't my first experience. About once a year -- after my last bad memory has faded -- I try again, and go through a similar scenario each time. Uggh! To add insult to injury, my lunch bill today came to nearly $13.00 with tip. That's ridiculous for this quality of food. I can only hope that breakfast is better here, but don't wait for my review. I won't make the mistake of going back to Egg and I again.

The Gold Standard.
This is what a restaurant should be. Great service, perfectly prepared food, a selection that has something for every taste, great prices, and infinitely civilized. They bring you a carafe of water with a lemon slice, a carafe of Mt. Dew or Tea so you don't have to wait for a refill, ever. And when dinner is through, you can go to the bathroom and use the mouthwash to rinse out the coffee breath and lotion your hands after washing..... soooooo civilized.
Only one word of warning.... don't sit in the two booths back by the kitchen. They don't have a door or plastic to muffle sound and some of the help is very rough with the dishes. Conversation can be difficult, depending on the kitchen help. Choose a table behind the barriers, and you'll have a perfect breakfast/lunch.
