Swanky steakery housed in the Holiday Inn Select features panoramic views, piano bar and--of course--top-grade beef.
Great place for a special occasion

We have been here twice. Each time I ordered the scallops from the "romancing the stone" menu, but I had them cook them in the kitchen and they were perfect! Best texture ever and cooked to perfection. The Iceberg wedge is great also, they even split it for us in the kitchen.
- Pros: Best Scallops Ever
- Cons: cook it for me, please
Not impressed

This definitely is not Mortons, Brooks or The Palm. Not even close.
We sat for 5 minutes before our friendly waitress came over. Another 5 before we got bread. Then the waitress came back to take our order. After that someone filled our water glasses. Then 10 minutes later we got the drinks we ordered.
We ordered cooked meals. A pricey filet and an average fish dish. There wasn't a lot of food so we were expecting a "wow" factor to the taste. No such luck. Ordered dessert. $9 for a small, average bananas foster and $8 for a cupcake sized chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream.
The atmosphere was lacking as well. It looked like a fancy new IHOP. It was dark which didn't add to the ambiance like it does in most places.
Our bill was $99.00 on three drinks, two entrees and two desserts, all of which failed to impress us. We won't be back.
- Pros: Location, friendly waitstaff
- Cons: Slow service, overpriced meals, cheap atmosphere
Great restaurant

I love Trapper's. I've been there now 5 times (including once with several people from my company from out of town) and I have never been disappointed.
The best feature is the 'Romancing the Stone' where they bring you a hot stone and a seared steak, and you cook the steak to your taste at the table. The beef is the best I've had at any steakhouse.
I've seen some of the other reviews. Yes, it's a tad hard to find if you cannot read signs. It's at the top of the Holiday Inn and has its own entrance from the outside with an elevator that exits into the restaurant.
The service is spectacular! The most recent time we went there was during 5280 week (we didn't know it when we went in) and even though we didn't have a reservation and the place was packed, we still got to sit and have dinner w/o a wait. Also, our waitress was very attentive, friendly and chatted with us even though she was slammed.
The atmosphere is very nice. I don't understand the one reviewer who said it was loud. I've never noticed except on the night it was so packed. Even then, I could still here the singer.
I do NOT recommend taking small children there. If you have older kids (probably 7 and up) you should be ok, but there is no kids menu and it's not really a 'family friendly' place. Our first time there we took our then 2 year old and although the staff was very attentive, you could tell they just were not prepared for children that age. However, if you do have small children, this is a wonderful excuse to go out w/o them!
- Pros: Best Steak Anywhere in Denver
- Cons: Not for small children
