Real Problem!. I had no problem with Dr. Penland as my primary care doc for years. However, when I was traveling in California for business (on a Saturday) I woke up with blood in my urine and had terrible pain. I called his answering service, who contacted him. HE YELLED AT ME FOR CALLING ON HIS TIME OFF! I reminded him I had blood in my urine but it didn't matter, despite my history of bladder infections (which he always treated with amoxycillan in the past). OMG, I had a tradeshow to work that morning, was staying in a hotel, and didn't know the area. I had been seeing Penland for years and this is how I was treated! Nonetheless, I promptly found a different doctor when I got back to Denver. What a jerk!…
GREAT DOCTOR /TERRIBLE STAFF. TO ME THIS DOCTOR IS VERY GOOD BUT WHEN IT COMES TO DEALING WITH HIS STAFF IT GOES DOWNHILL. HE USED TO HAVE A VERY GOOD STAFF. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED BUT IT MAKES YOU NOT TO WANT TO GO BACK. YOU DON'T GET CALL BACKS ON YOUR LABS ANYMORE AND WHEN YOU CALL THEM THEY ARE TO BUSY TO LET YOU KNOW HOW THEY TURNED OUT OR THEY TELL YOU THEY ARE NOT IN WHEN THE LAB ALREADY TOLD YOU THAT THEY HAVE BEEN SENT TO THE DOCTOR. GOD FORBID IF YOU CALL ANYWHERE NEAR 5:00 YOU ARE BRUSHED OFF THE PHONE AND YOUR TOLD THEY WILL CALL YOU TOMORROW WHICH THAT CALL NEVER COMES. SAD BECAUSE YOUR PRACTICE IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE PEOPLE YOU HAVE WORK FOR YOU AND HIS PRACTICE HAS GONE DOWNHILL AND ITS NOT BECAUSE OF THE DOCTOR.…
Wonderful Doctor and Person. In mid-June 2009, I visited Dr. Penland with vague, chronic symptoms of depression and fatigue. I had been diagnosed with celiac disease the year before, and my gastro, Cary Patt, had told me that Dr. Penland had run alot of tests for him to confirm my diagnosis. Dr, Penland spent a lot of time with me, discussing both medical and other problems. He encouraged me to do healthy things to help make me feel better, but was NOT preachy. He also ordered thorough blood and urine tests. As I left, I saw his next next patients, waiting for him. They seemed unconcerned about the time Dr. Penland had spent with me. That's when I knew he was special; he takes his time. It turns out I had a minor UT I. It felt good, however, to have been treated with such care. Also, one of his nurses, a young woman, was very kind and was happy to not shout aloud what my weight was! It was silly of me to request that, but she agreed with me that if I don't want to hear it, I don't have to. May God richly bless Dr. Penland and his staff.…
Attentive Physician.
I was referred to Dr. Penland by another doctor who works with my wife.
I have been to visit him several times. The most important traits I look for in a doctor is someone who is compassionate and a good listener; Dr. Penland is both.
I would highly recommend him.…
