Rude Rox Bar Manager.
The Rox Bar and Grill in Littleton Colorado
Never before have my wife and myself received such abysmal treatment as that delivered to us by the 'manager' of this establishment. We are visitors from overseas and called in for what we thought would be a short drink and chat as you might congenially have in an English pub.
After two drinks we were about to leave when the 'manager' rudely intruded himself into our conversation and after a few short questions began shouting, or should I say screaming, at the top of his voice directly into our faces 'You S__TS you F_____ING S__TS ' He repeated this a number of times, flinging one of the glasses across the table. We were so shocked by this surreal behaviour that we left almost immediately after I said I did not appreciate him swearing at us (and for what reason I am still trying to work out). The man was obviously not in control of himself and in my opinion was in need some sort of psychiatric help. In the light of the Littleton massacre a few years ago and the recent shootings in the neighbouring state of Arizona, it is evident that there is a serious mental health issue in this part of the U.S.
The incident was reported to the local Littleton Police who assured us that they had been informed by the manager that he was intending to build up his clientele base. Well, if this is how they do it in Littleton good luck to them. With American allies like this who needs enemies. In my opinion this man should be out there fighting for his country instead of abusing elderly citizens from a country whose sons are fighting for the U.S. in Afghanistan.
We are both heartily disgusted with the behaviour of this man and I do not see why he should be fit to hold a 'hospitality' licence in any form whatsoever.
Unbelieveably Bad Experience-rox on the rocks.
I took my visiting relatives to a local establishment after an Avs Hockey game. We will never return! Our terrible experience began when we were challenged by a woman as to why we would park in a handicapped spot--sticker was hanging by the mirror.
Entering the bar we waited to be seated, best estimate 20 patrons, when no one assisted us we seated ourselves. Still waiting for service, we went to the bar & ordered our drinks, where the bartender asked us to go back to our table as he would send a waitress over.
When she arrived we were told they had stopped serving food. We ordered drinks, chatted, shortly thereafter the waitress gave us our check--no asking if we were finished, no announcement of Last Call. My Brother in Law--big time Australian accent--paid with a credit card.
Soon after the owner/manager came over, started a conversation which he soon turned vulgar. He raised his voice, repeatedly cursed us for being poor tippers (the cash we had planned on leaving stayed in our pocket) & then the owner/manager proceeded to push glassware around the table.
Throughout his tirade he was coninuously dropping F Bombs. My sister, brother in law & I were apalled! He ordered us out of his bar continueing to curse, we gladly left.
Returning to our car, someone had left an abusive note under the wiper.
At age 58, I have never received such horrendous treatment! This is a memory of Ken Caryl my older sister & her husband will take back to Australia! They had a true Close Encounter with an Ugly American!
Just Kinda Sad.
It’s Saturday night, I am STARVING and have money to spend! My boyfriend suggests we try the Rox Bar and Grill. Neither of us had been there before and we both liked the idea of a locally owned spot..
When our food came I admit to being a little disappointed by the quantity of shrimp on my salad (4) however, I was pleasantly surprised by how succulent they looked. Not giant but probably 25/pound. I eagerly bit into the first one. WOW - it was one of the saltiest shrimp I have ever tasted. Thinking I had perhaps chosen a “bad” shrimp I took a bite of a second shrimp. Same thing – way too salty to eat. I took at stab at my salad – a half bunch of romaine split and flayed on the plate with all of the tough end leaves in tact and was totally disheartened. The flavor was just salt, the lettuce leaves were limp and there was absolutely nothing to recommend it aside from the rather pleasant pink color of the dressing.
Much later when the later came to check on us I explained that the salad was far too salty for me. He responded with “Well what do you expect with Caesar dressing and parmesan cheese?”
The waiter explained he couldn’t remove the salad from my bill but felt he gave a very nice discount that would satisfy me. When the bill came he had credited a little less than 20% or $2.45 from the salad I couldn’t eat. We had spent over $30 on drinks, plus my boyfriend’s meal and they couldn’t just remove the horrible salad. The salad I ate literally four bites off.
Annoyed I asked to speak to his manager. I explained to her about the saladShe explained that the restaurant couldn’t be expected to have to refund money every time they made food someone didn’t like. No, really, that is what she said. She said she would give me a coupon for a DISCOUNT on a draft beer on my next visit.
I tipped based on the amount the bill would have been without the salad. I kinda whish I had just removed the price of the salad from the tip - I'm not sure what sends a stronger message.
