Be warned...They had the best price in town, friendly staff, and my 1year old dog was active all day. But after my dog was attacked, unprovoked according to the facilities own incident report and the word of mouth of every staff member, even Rhonda the owner, things changed very quickly. My dog required staples for the bite wound. Rhonda refused to follow her own contract, that every dog parent signs, that the facility has a "no tolerance policy" for aggressive dogs and that "the dogs owner will be responsible for any harm or damage caused by their dog" . Rhonda refused to give me the other dogs owner info but told me she "gave mine to them and it was up to them to contact me" and that she was " not going to remove the other dog from day care" but she would "give me $100.00 Off the next contract I signed with her" Why would I return my dog to a place where there is an aggressive dog? We have tried repeatedly to talk with Rhonda and are responded back to with a condescending and insulting attitude from her. AVOID.
I heard of this place through one of the deal sites - since I have a golden retriver who loves water, I thought, why not take him for a swim. We do have a doggie pool/rec center closer to the house, but I am always opened to exploring new places.
Well, I wish i did not attempt to "explore" this one. Maybe the rec center closer to home, which is nice, clean and staffed with friendly people spoiled me, I don't know, but I truly believe that cleanliness and friendly staff should be the norm.
Outside of the Center is, as previously stated, bare asphalt - no shade, no grass, nothing. OK, no big deal. However, coming through the door is a first shock - loud noise (some sort of a fan or AC) and filthy floors. The waiting room is no better - some chairs that I would not sit on if someone paid me, and some merchandise (outfits, treats). The front desk was empty and there is a small machine and a sign stating to press the call button ONLY ONCE - god forbid someone may push it twice and disturb the staff. The lady who came after the ominous button was pressed (only once!) was everything but friendly - no smile, no greeting - I gave her the necessary forms and she started to study them for what seemed like forever. All this time some poor pooch was barking its little heart out - noone seemed to care (another staffed member was walking by totally oblivious). The pool displayed on the screen beside the desk seemed to be good size but when I saw it, it looked nasty. I turned around and went home - my dog can swim elsewhere. I do not want to sound too uppity, and I know it may not be easy to clean a place that caters to animals, but as far as I am concerned, the Canine Fitness and Fun center is not going to se me again. One start is too much for it (but there is no zero stars choice)
Disease Infested. This place should have been condemned. The old building Rhonda had CFFC at was moldy and mice infested. OSHA and the department of Agriculture were called out because of the horrible conditions. I can't believe anyone would ever pay to have their dogs there. I am a former employee who quit because of the outrageous conditions. The employees and dogs were exposed to rotting drywall and mold which was causing everyone to get sick. Mice were everywhere. I'm sure they were bringing in all kinds of infectious diseases. The whole place was unsanitary. Rhonda never cared to have the proper cleaning chemicals. The place was constantly wet and moldy. Rhonda also let in dogs that should not be there. Dogs that got into fights, dogs that weren't spayed or neutered, etc. Our boarding area was pathetic too. It was a bunch of rusty crates in the basement. The basement was dark, damp and mice infested. When it rained or the snow melted, the basement flooded. How scary is that!! The dogs were alone at night in a basement that could flood!!! She is not in the business because she loves dogs, she's only in it for the money. Don't be fooled. PLEASE, PLEASE do a thorough check of any doggie daycare. Watch those web cams!!!
NOT A GOOD PLACE TO TAKE YOUR DOG!!. I lived near Canine fitness and fun center and saw the large sign that said indoor pools, swim year round. I was so excited...... until i went and let my two dogs stay for a day. The smell was horrendous. My dogs were shoved, pulled around on a leash, at one time i saw one of the employee's( from what I could tell) kick or smash a dog into one of the flimsy cheap "walls". There was mold growing on the floor near the pools, the ramp for the so called large pool is so cheap that it bent with little weight. I thought it would break anytime on of my medium sized dogs came out of the pool. The owner was stuck up and acted as thought she had tons of knowledge in the field. After hearing her explain to me some medical things about my dog I realized that she had no clue. (my aunt is a vet!) The staff was rude and seemed to not care about me or my dogs at all... until I came to pick them up. There were two girls up front and one was so nice to me and made me wish that she worked somewhere better because then I would have brought my dogs back. Over all my experience was horrible and if you want to check it out they have web cams so you can really see some of what goes on!
Friendly staff but filthy place. I was very disappointed with how dirty the place was! The staff was great, so I was surprised that they would not keep the place in better condition. It is very run down.
Do you want your dog muzzled without your knowledge?. I would not recommend this daycare for many reasons: 1) staff is very unfriendly (except for the owner); 2) the facility smells; and 3) the biggest reason is that your dog may be muzzled without your knowledge. I dropped my dog off one day for daycare and the staff person asked is she could use a gentle leader on my dog during the day. Why? I asked. Instead of a muzzle. What? Have you muzzled my dog? Why? Come to find out that my dog had indeed been muzzled for barking on several occassions for which I had no idea - nobody bothered to let me know. I'm not against discipline, but I'm not paying over $20/day for my dog to be muzzled. Doggie daycare is a place for dogs to have fun, run, play, and bark. With multiple playrooms, I see no reason why my dog could not have been placed in another room. Be aware!
My dog loves it here. I brought in my dog for a temperament test after touring the facilities the day before. I read many reviews on here saying how unclean the place was, but it was quite evident that this was not true. I could smell bleach in the place. My dog did well on her temperament test and I brought her the next day. She seemed very content and happy when they brought her out to the lobby. She had never been to daycare before, so I was worried she would be traumatized. She certainly wasn't though! I would like to try and see if she will swim sometime, she never had before. This place has two indoor swimming pools which I believe no other place does in Colorado. I would highly recommend trying out this place.
One of my better experiences in daycare :). I have a little dog who is fairly shy. I have lived in the area for awhile but hadn't heard about this place until they had a charity dog wash a few weeks ago. There was a little blirp about in on Fox 31 news, so I decided to try with my dog there. My dog passed the temperament test well despite the fact that she is very shy. I felt content with leaving her here and she seems to have been doing fine so far. I was afraid on the first day that she might come home shaking in fear as she did after a day at another daycare...but she seemed very content. I was told that she did not play very much with other dogs during her day their, but that she did play with the humans a little bit. Hopefully with time she will warm up to other dogs more.
Saw it on 9 news. I came here just earlier this week after seeing a story about it on 9 news. I really liked it. My dog is overweight and could use this place. I do walk her and all, but the swimming and running about here may be more than anything that I can do. They have some good deals, like 2 hour power plays for $10. The owners have also gone through some extensive kennel training, as you can see with the plaques on the wall upon entrance. Most places I have gone before, they never have had prior kenneling experience, so this is nice for a change. It looks like a really fun place, I especially like the play equipment downstairs.
Cool place. I like that the dogs rotate floors here, and do not just stand in the same area the entire time. They have toys and kiddie pools and other things to play with. It seemed like a really fun place for the dogs to be, and they seemed to enjoy themselves. My dog is not a swimmer, but they do have indoor pools for other dogs who are which is nice. A very fun place, good daycare.
