Best tamales - hands down.
I love tamales. I hate to make them. Most tamales are good the day you buy them. The real test is to refrigerate them and eat them the next day. That is how you recognize freshness. These are made every day and they are good for week (if they last that long). The other test is masa to meat ratio. Too much masa they are tasteless. Too much meat they fall apart.
I have been buying Moreno's tamales since he was selling them in front of Guadalupe Church on Sundays in the mid 90's.
And they have been good consistently since the 90's.
And although I like green tamales, I am norteno and prefer the red tamales. If you order in quantities you have to insist and make sure that you only get what you ordered. I order 15 dozen at Christmas and if I dont check I end up with two dozen green mixed in. Which my family does not eat.
Never the less, Denver's best becoming well known.
