Tips for Michelangelo's A Coffee & Wine

I know it's on the menu....but we're out of pretty much everything.. I've been to Michelangelo's twice now. I went back last night after waiting 6 months debating whether I should give it another chance. That was a really poor decision. The first time I went to Michelangelo's was on a Saturday morning and I ordered a croissant with egg and a carafe of french press coffee. Both of which were on the menu. They were out of eggs and neither one of the workers knew how to make french press coffee so I gave them instructions on how to make it. Then they overcharged me for it.

Last night I went back with a group of friends and saw the most unprofessional behavior from waitstaff that I have ever experienced anywhere- and I don't say that lightly. The two women servers were sniping at each other for the entire hour that we were there and each time one of them came to our table, they would blame something on the other one. 'Sorry, we HAD 2 pieces of cheesecake left but SHE just sold the other one, even though I had planned to give it to you' Every patron in the place was cognizant of the problem, but we got the brunt of the behavior since they seemed to be fighting over our table. We ordered several deserts, but they were out of most of them, and suggested cookies or biscotti instead, with the caveat that they were out of some of those as well. They were out of two of the wines that we initially tried to order, screwed up one of the coffee orders and everything came out 1 plate or glass at a time. All the while the she-beasts were taking turns coming by our table to tell us how yet again the other she-beast had screwed something up for us.

While the decor of Michelangelo's is somewhat inviting, that seems to be the only thing this establishment has going for it, which is a real bummer because I only live a few blocks away and was hoping this could be a regular place to hang out drinking wine or coffee. I'll never go back and neither with any of the other 5 people that were with me.

Over priced coffee and food, bad service. I was in a few nights ago and had a poor experience. I was not impressed with my coffee and my cheese plate was morosley over priced.

Great coffee, nice service, good atmosphere. I really like this coffee shop. I've never been there for wine, but their coffee and breakfast is very good. The staff has always been extremely friendly and helpful and I enjoy their comfy interior. I certainly want to check out the wine part soon.

Great Fun - City atmosphere, comfy seating - good dessert, wine choice, salad. Great little place! Have been there twice and both time LOVED it. Outside seating okay in the warm times - even if it's on busy Broadway. Inside seating is great with several couches and velvety chairs. I had a wonderful girlfriend night here with good service, great salad, wonderful wine choice. Will go back again & again!
