Editorial Review for BLT Burger – by Justin Hartung

The Scene
The narrow space is like the lovechild of a '50s soda shop and a barn, decorated with diner tables, unfinished wood booths, cow paintings and a steer's head. Double dates and families pack the place, providing a considerable din, and sending the amiable staff into overdrive.

The Food
Tournondel fires his volley into the burger wars with a patty made from a combination of sirloin, short rib, chuck and brisket. The classic, cooked to order with a nicely charred exterior, comes with crisp lettuce, tomato and onion, while the signature BLT burger adds a second patty, applewood smoked bacon and green peppercorn sauce that unfortunately renders the Arnold bun a soggy mess. Surprisingly, it's the tuna burger that shines brightest, the fresh chunks of fish held together with chilies, lime zest and harissa mayo. Crunchy waffle fries are perfect for sharing, and tart cherry pie a la mode makes an honorable all-American finish.

Insider Tips

What to Drink

Beverages include everything from Boylan's sodas to the unusual on-tap Ommegang Witte Beer to Kahlua-spiked milkshakes. The $3 cans of Pabst and Schlitz add a real touch of Americana.

Save Money

Combo deals ($11-$15) are available with a classic, fries and a soda, milkshake or draft beer.

Brunch

The brunch menu includes a burger made with breakfast sausage and a fried egg.

Where to Sit

Reservations are not accepted and the wait for tables can be long. As long as you don't mind flat-screen TVs above your head, the bar seats tend to open up quicker.

So i love this place... These are some of the best burgers i've had in the city.. seriously.. the BLT burger is AWESOME! I see alot of conflicting reviews, so i can only speak on my experiences... And i've been more then once.. let me tell you how it usually goes down for me... I walk in and there is usually a line for a table... Uhmm i just sit at the bar, no wait.. THE BARTENDER IS SUPER COOL!!! SERIOUSLY!!! He is happy to see you... Hands you a menu and asks you what drink you wanna start with.. they have some alright beers, but i which they had more options on tap (i think they only have like 5, and they are kinda odd, but not all odd in the good way) Ok... so then i drink, and shortly after my food is here... I've NEVER had a long wait... I eat it, and i ALWAYS eat everything.. Its amazing... very good, seriously... The Kobe Beef Burger is good, the Fries you just can't go wrong, no matter what version you get of them... I say go visit.. and Eat... I enjoy it, i'm there basically every friday now...

Pros: Great Burgers and Fries!!!! I mean thats what we are here for right!!!!!

Cons: Hmm... I wish there were more beers.. But really thats it.. the place is awesome

I'd been craving a good burger and after doing some research decided to give BLT Burger a shot. It was a Friday night so we were expecting to wait to be seated so it wasn't a big deal when we were told it would be 20mins for a table.. was a little annoying that it was actually 40mins, but we'd ordered a few drinks at the bar so we were happy. I ordered the lamb burger.. it was delicious. It was ever so slightly spicy and had a nice olivey taste. The Yoghurt dressing was also yummy and great for dipping my fries in! My fiance had the classic burger and from the tiny bite I stole from him it was very very nice. The burgers were good.. not great.. not the best I've ever had but definitely good burgers. The sides were pretty average but we were there for burgers so weren't too concerned. The spiked shakes are SPECTACULAR!! The night rider shake is like drinking a yummy alcoholic chocolate mousse!!! Definitely the highlight of the meal! Our waitress was really sweet and very efficient. We'll definitely head back there.. perhaps when its a little quieter but a good place for a non-fussy solid meal.

Pros: The Spiked Shakes

Cons: The long wait for a table and fries..
