What it lacks in decor, this bustling Chinese eatery makes up for in tasty dishes from veggie lo mein to kidney porridge.
Gimme cold pickled chicken feet and fried crab!
by Chowhound9
JJ?s consistently serves up the best Chinese in town for people more interested in chicken feet than sesame chicken. It takes about 7 visits before the surly older waitress recognizes you as a regular, then she?s a kitten. The other waitresses are nice. It?s all about the seafood here Cletus (but they do serve land critters). I thought nobody would buy the $20 per pound grass carp in the tanks, but I saw all three disappear within an hour. If you?ve never tried a FRESH shrimp (and unless you?ve lived on the Gulf Coast, you probably haven?t) then order some. The fried whole crab with garlic would make Anthony Bourdain swoon. Get some of the Chinese veggies with big ol? hunks of garlic thrown in. The fish fried rice is addictive?like little crunchy bombs of salty goodness ? and I?ve seen it nowhere else around town. The complementary desserts they offer range from tasty to just plain odd, e.g., red bean soup that isn?t sweet. Asian clientele, although the word is getting around to the Anglos.
- Pros: Fresh seafood, exotic menu
- Cons: Floor a bit dirty, place could use a wash
Amazing Fusion or Authentic
by teetrance
Great seafood restaurant! Try their finger clams, snails, and also fried fish in ginger for all you foodies craving authentic Chinese food. For people craving fusion foods, get the sizzling beef udon or the baked seafood, delicious stuff here! This is a hole in the wall, a place where Anthony Bourdain would do, not Rachel Ray, so don't expect a waitress with perfect English or amazing ambiance.
- Pros: Great food, you get free dessert, pictures on menu
exotic menu

This is not your usual chinese restaurant. The menu is filled with many unusual items. I came here on a Thursday night with a group of eight people. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived, but was about half full by the time we left. The ambiance was lacking, but the quality and variety of the food more than made up for it. We came here specifically to taste unusual dishes, so we ordered a bunch of stuff and ate it family style. We tried duck tongue, jellyfish, pork tendons, chicken feet, turtle soup, snake soup, frog with chinese sausage, fried rice with chinese sausage, and there may have been more but I can't remember off the top of my head. Everything was great, although my least favorite was probably the chicken feet. But if you've never had them, you need to order them so you can at least say you've tried them!
- Pros: exotic menu; good prices
- Cons: ambiance is lacking
