Classy place, good food and music. We had a nice evening here. The music was enjoyable and we felt like we were somwhere in Chicago or East Coast.Great staff!
wow this is bad. Wow this place is bad. The food is just bland. The servers are dressed like club trash just to try for better tips. They are self absorbed and all around untrained and not polished. The owner was probably the rudest man i have met to date. I would suggest running far away far far away from this place. Im sorry I was silly enough to try it.
Horrible service. I came into Alto to a security guard who you would think received an ego boost just from his ear piece. We were sat in an extremely wobbly table that was never fixed or even addressed when we mentioned it. Our server came to the table in shorts so short that we could see half were butt when she handed out drinks. Talk about classy. She only spoke to the men. There was a man walking around making abrasive comments about guest to his security. I was told later he was the owner and when spoken to about his food and service he becomes defensive and intense. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless you enjoy bad food and horrible people!!
Horrible Night. The fact that from the start we were treated like a group of children when in fact our median age is 30. We came to watch a fashion show where the models were treated horribly by the staff and the owner. Even when they were changing (a group of ladies mind you) the security guards kept barging in to "check up" on them. Then they were harassed and told they were not allowed to have the champagne bought for them. The host had told us we would be front and center (hence reserving bottle service to watch) and the runway wasn't even 20 feet near our table. When the large crowd attempt to see the show we were ripped off the booth and told it was unexceptable and was grabbed by the owner himself. I asked to speak with him considering the only reason we booked the table and the large tab was to see our model and couldn't. He was the most abrasive man i have ever met and I have been in the industry my whole life. When he assumed I was not listening he asked his security guard "what do these B****** want?". He started yelling about how he will not comp anything or help us in anyway but take us to the front of the runway at the end of the show. WOW what a guy. . . Not! The only upside was that the GM was personable and reasonable and a pleasure to speak with. Only problem was that we were all so upset we did not want to stay. I will never be back and I feel bad for anyone who goes.
Better for drinks. We went last Friday during Restaurant Week, and were disappointed that a band was playing in the restaurant area. We spent the entire night shouting across the table to hear each other. The food was nothing special. I would recommend this place for having drinks and enjoying live music, but not for a nice dinner.
Worth a 2nd look.
My wife and I visited Alto for the 2nd time today after having first gone there a week ago. Our first experience wasn't what we were expecting and we wanted to give it a second chance for two primary reasons. One, Alto has had very strong reviews by others in the community and we thought there might have been an off-night. Most importantly though was that Greg, the owner, had followed up with us after having learned of our initial disappointment. It is very refreshing to meet an owner who is so evidently concerned about his customer's dining experience and who makes every effort to be at the restaurant every night and to visit each table.
Our visit today was very rewarding and we understand why Alto is so highly touted in Denver. We were seated immediately upon our arrival and were quickly greeted by our waitress who provided insightful advice as we were choosing our wine. The service throughout the meal was prompt and attentive and we especially appreciated the attentiveness and care in accommodating the special requests of our children who also accompanied us. My wife ordered the ravioli and found them to delicious while I ordered the buffalo short ribs and they were very tender and tasty. Everyone very much enjoyed their food.
As we were concluding our meal, the live band was just beginning to play. This was an excellent complement to the meal as they filled the restaurant with soothing sounds without overpowering the meal and conversation.
Overall, I'm very glad we came back to Alto and look forward to visiting again in the future.
Great Ambience!. The design and layout is superb. The piano music was very nice. I would go here again. Thank you for a great experience!
On March 11, 2008 I had the pleasure to experience a wonderful night at this fantastic resturant. There was in four party. The evening began with a brief presentantikon of "WEST SIDE Story the Opera" from Central City. We were treated very professionally, greeted with a warm welcome and provide with a server who was just perfect for our table. My complements to Chef Michael who create the Crab Cakes, the Walnut Salad and the wonderful Gorganzola Fondue. For my main menu, I selected the trout which was very fresh. The wine selection was perfect a with a wide variety of options.
Thanks, Alto for the little muffins to tke home as a parting gift, which was provide by the Chef, and is a great idea.
For my vote Altos is a keeper!
Great food, Attentive service.
I had dinner at Alto, Monday night and it was wonderful. I was met at the door with a smile, and shown to a beautiful, quiet table. Micheal, my waiter, was attentive and made suggestions about the wine list and the food specials for the evening. The warm mustard green salad is a great change from the usual cold green salad that most places serve. The buffalo short ribs were tender and seasoned to perfection. It's not too often a restaurant will use parsnips in a dish, but what a surprise, they were wonderful.
Alto is a warm, friendly place with a staff that is happy to be there. The piano music is a terrific change from piped in muzak. I will go back more than once. The mushroom risotto sounds too good not to try.
Awesome dining experience at the Chef's Table!.
Last evening, my girlfriend and I ate dinner at the new Chef's Table and it was great! As we were seated, Chef Michael asked us about any dietary restrictions we had so that he could craft a custom meal for us. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and I'm not, which posed no problem for the Chef. Both of us had a wonderful meal served to us on a large counter overlooking the spotless kitchen area of alta. The experience was hightened by having Chef tell us as he personally served us each course what we were about to eat. Advertised as a five course meal, it actually turned out to be seven with the tasty "amuse bouche" to start things off and a cranberry gelato course to cleanse the palate after a delicious warmed mustard greens salad, before the main course was served.
If you are looking for not only a great meal, but also a great dining experience, you must make a reservation for dinner at the Chef's Table! Granted, it was expensive, but from the start, I knew I was going to get my money's worth! This takes dining out to a whole new level. If you are a foodie, this experience puts you in the heart of the action. It was fun to just let the Chef decide the menu which made each course a surprise. Some of the courses were off the menu and some were not. This experience has made me look forward to the next time I eat at alto as I now feel quite familiar with their menu.
The service was great, too! It felt like we had an entire team of servers at our beck and call. New forks were slid in place like magic. Good work to everyone at alto! Thanks for not only a great meal, but also a great dining experience!
