Editorial Review for The Beehive – by Eric Grossman
In Short
Spread over two floors in the Boston Center for the Arts, the Beehive attracts a suitably artsy crowd, especially before and after performances. The large space, filled with eye-catching art and ornate drapes and fixtures, is one of the neighborhood's few true late-night destinations. An eclectic assortment of live music, from jazz to cabaret, is offered most nights. Patrons select from a Mediterranean-tinged menu of shareable bites (charcuterie plates, a "jar of pickles") and pricier, more substantial fare (lamb ribs with house-made garlic sausage, pappardelle with wild mushrooms and creamy ricotta).

Insider Tips
What to DrinkBefitting its artsy vibe, the Beehive serves its drinks in offbeat holders (wine's served in brandy snifters, beer in mugs with handles).
When to GoWeekend brunch service, offered from 10:30am-3pm, features live music and such inviting fare as brandied-fruit French toast and Eggs Shakshuka (three eggs baked over North African-style tomato sauce, served with creamy polenta).
Where to SitA small but in-demand patio offers views of lively South End foot traffic, though those seated outside aren't able to hear the interior stage's nightly live music.

A group of co-workers met at the beehive and I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The food was quite tasty and high quality; incredible jazz music; and the beehive space was spectacular looking. It was a bit loud but great fun nevertheless.

A few of us went to the Beehive for Sunday brunch. We waited patiently for our table to be ready at the bar, the bar tender chose to ignore us. After seated, we started off with a very arrogant waitress and continued with sub-par service the entire meal. We were not given coffee refils and our food (eggs) took nearly 25 minutes to arrive after ordering. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
