Denver >Elixir Mind Body Massage
NOT WORTH IT.
This place is a disaster. I didn't get an hour massage either. I got about 40 minutes. And $70!? Really? For what? The rent and overhead must be overwhelming for the owners. They barely pay the massage therapists and then screw the clients. It's not worth the cost. I'm not sure who's rating this place. It's got to be some close friends or relatives.
Ask for Jessica M (if you like deep tissue).
My husband got me a 90min massage as a bday gift. He said he based his decision on 5280. I'll admin, I was hesitant, and felt bad if he dropped $ on a crap massage. I've been to a few places in Denver, and they're usually a 3 out of 10. Either the pressure wasn't enough - even if I asked for harder, or I felt rushed and didn't get the time I paid for.
Going into this - I was like, you know, hubby gave a kick ass gift, I'll try to enjoy it the best I can, if it sucks, whatever.
I get there 15 minutes early, as requested. The ladies that worked the front desk all seemed nice, in their matching green shirts. There's a 2 page form to fill out. It asks questions about music preference, allergies, what type of massage I wanted, any phobias. I kinda laughed and was a smart ass about it - I have a phobia of clowns and stupid people...I get a wrap around my neck, offered water/tea while I sit there and wait.
Jessica M. comes out with a few of the other masseuses to direct their assigned massagee to their designated room. Mine was all the way in the back - lights are dimmed. By the time we're done our intros, she leaves me to disrobe - to my comfort level of course. My appt is at 230, I'm on the table at 2:28.
Jessica comes back with warm towels on my back and on my feet. The process was amazing. I found myself drifting in and out of mini naps. She didn't force me to have lengthy convos, she'd ask me if the pressure was ok and how I was doing. I'm sure if i wanted to be chatty cathy, she'd totally be there to facilitate, but I was suffering from a rocking food coma and the massage was so intensely amazing, that I just wasn't coherent.
When she flipped me over (it was rough, I was jelly and moving seemed too hard core) - she lifted the sheet and we did the procedure quickly. Why I'm mentioning this - most massage places, will have the masseuse leave and come back (which eats up like 5-7 minutes of your actually massage time). She "wakes me up" and tells me that's about all the time we have for today - so cute!! I think I said something nice, but seriously I was so high from my massage that I barely was able to get off the table and dress myself.
I did get my full 90 minutes worth. It was a little after 4 when she left the room. I know there are reviews that people feel like it's a rip off, or they didn't get their time - I think it's mostly due to the massage therapist. Jessica M. (there are other Jessica's there), RULES!! She really puts in the effort - found knots that I didn't even know I had, and I felt like butter afterwards. Hard to do b/c I'm so high strung and stressed all the time, it's ridiculous to believe my body isn't tight. Well worth the $, well worth the time.
Any dislikes - pushy sales at the end - to join membership, seriously, talk to me about it BEFORE. When I'm all relaxed after my massage, the only thing I want to think about it how relaxed I am, not debating on a package. I was also thinking that massage places should send their clients home with a candle or aromatherapy awesomeness - how fun would that be, to continue the relaxation awesomeness throughout the day.
I thoroughly enjoyed my session and hoping to go back again soon (if time permits - I'm total Type A and hard to relax and devoting that much time away from my blackberry - eeps)
Good massage, watch the check out. A colleague and I were in Denver for a conference and were recommended Elixir. We scheduled the appointments at the same time and went in about 15 minutes early. My colleague went in on time and I sat in the lobby for another 5 minutes or so. My masseuse was a very personable guy with great hands. I was taken back 5 minutes into the session time and then waited another 8 - 10 after I had laid down for the treatment - waiting for hot towels. It was almost 20 after the hour when my massage started - and it ended exactly on the hour. I had paid for a 60 minute massage and got a 40 minute massage. When I spoke to the woman up front she was apologetic, but did nothing. We needed to catch our flight so I didn't make an issue of it, but was very, very disappointed
It's spotless, the sheets are like (or are?) silk, they play whatever type of music you like, your feet are wrapped in hot towels while you get your massage, and the memberships are a great deal if you like/need regular massages.
My therapist will be quiet when I want to be quiet, or talk & laugh when I feel like it; and he explains what muscles are having issues and what types of stretches I can do to prevent further problems. Truly invested in my well-being.
It's just luxurious there. It's a tad expensive with tip if you don't do the membership, but I'd say it's worth it. Love that place.
A truly 5 star experience. I heard about Elixir from a good friend of mine that has been a client of theirs for quite some time so I decided that I would give it a try and wow, I was thoroughly impressed! Right when I walked in I checked in, and as I was filling out some paperwork I got a heating pad put on my neck and was offered a beverage. My therapist, Judy, was absoultely as sweet as can be. Not only that, she helped me with some serious problems with my shoulders that ive had ever since I can remember. She showed me some stretches and things to do at home that have already help. I also purchased some creme called Muscle Ice (or something along those lines..) that has really helped with lower back pain at night. Thanks so much to Judy and everyone at Elixir for making me feel like a princess!
Wonderful place for a relaxing, individualized massage!. During my visit to Denver, I wanted to find somewhere to receive a good massage. I wasn't sure what to expect to find. So many bodywork places these days charge by the modality (deep tissue, relaxation, etc.), rather than just time. The Elixir staff are warm & inviting, as is the atmosphere. The massage was superb; I was looking for an hour mainly consisting of deep tissue upper body work along with some emphasis on my feet. And the price was a steal!! If you're looking for quality, professionalism & a massage tailored to you...go to Elixir!!!
I need a massage after deal ing with these people. I was looking for a place to get my husband a surprise massage and found a coupon on city search last week that says (word for word) "Purchase a 60 Min massage and get a complimentary hot lava massage." So I called and made my husband an appointment for the 60 min massage and told them I had a coupon from city search for the complimentary hot lava massage and they booked the appointment and told me just to bring it in. So we just showed up and they told me there was a typo on the ad, blamed city search of course, it was supposed to say upgrade not complimentary and they wouldn't honor it. They also said they left me a message on my cell, which i didn't get, and that it was my fault if i didn't listen to my messages. I just listened to it by the way and the owner said its been stuck on there for the last month which was a lie as the front desk chick told us when we were in there they had no idea about the typo till i called and had it removed immediately and that I was the only one who found it. As if the whole thing wasn't bad enough she had to leave an entire message of lies, unreal. I then left the owner a message after we were rudely shown the door and surprise surprise she never even called me back. I guess thats great if you have a business that is going so well you don't have to treat new customers kindly, but as for me and anyone we know we will be getting our massages somewhere else and you should also, bad business owners and liars shouldn't be rewarded.
I regret that this customer felt so mistreated. Upon booking the appointment they were told that it sounded like there had been a mistake but we would go ahead and make the appointment and call back if there were any problems. There were 4 attempts in 10 days to contact them at the number she left for confirmation about the error made by Citysearch. We left messages offering them the free upgrade as well as $20 off a second massage for the misprint or we gave them the option to cancel the appointment. No one lied to this couple or was rude to them and we did attempt to remedy the situation several times.
Elixir Massages. I love Elixir. I go there at least once a month. The massage therapists are great, the specialty massages are great. They have a relaxing atmosphere and everyone there is nice, polite and wonderful to be around.
Fabulous visit to a relaxing and well run spa!. I had a fabulous visit yesterday to elixir as a first time massage customer. I was pleasantly greeted and welcomed and offered an elixir for relaxation. I then received a warm therapeutic wrap for my neck and shoulders to begin the relaxation process. The surroundings were comfortable and beautiful - calm and quiet. I had a very nice massage from Jen who worked the tension out of my back and shoulders specifically. I left feeling relaxed, calm and great. It was refreshing to be asked "is there anything we could have done better?" upon checking out. I believe the owners truly want to make sure their customers are receiving the best in care. I will definitely be back!
BEST DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE I HAVE EVER HAD!. WHAT A RELAXING ATMOSPHERE. THE STAFF MADE ME FEEL AT HOME AS SOON AS I WALKED THRU THE DOOR. I CAN NOT WAIT TO TELL THE WIFE WE HAVE A NEW MASSAGE CENTER. A VERY WELL DONE MASSAGE CENTER, WAIT TO YOU SEE THE MASSAGE ROOMS , NEED I SAY MORE?
