Denver >Earl's Restaurant & Bar
Best Ive Ever Had. Being at earls restaurant was the best service. The food, the atmosphere, the people and overall the food. Being there my first time just made me feel so good about food and people in general. Keep up the good work and the is excellent don't give up! Very good.
Love it! Food is Great, but expect to Wait!. I come to Earl's every time that I'm in Denver, and I love it! The service leaves a lot to be desired. Don't come if you're in a hurry, and if you're with a big group of people, expect to wait a long time for drinks, and/or food. The $5.00 Martini's, great atmosphere, and delicious food are worth the hassle though. It is FUN and YUMMY!
The worst service in Denver!.
This has got to be a joke that service could be this bad.. It's really unfortunate as corporate (apparently in Canada) has done such a great job with the atmosphere and food..
You might as well stay home if considering Earl's downtown at 16th & Glennarm. Their idea of service equals no service at all.
Fun place for normal people.
I'm quite sure the first four reviews were written by women. Earls is a great place to have fun. We'll be back. Try going to the spahghetti factory.
How many servers does it take to ignore you? 9 apparently..
I knew from past experiences that Earl's was not known for great service, not even for mediocre service, but I expected at least SOME service.
I went in for lunch today to break the daily monotony of salad and soup. I came in shortly after the place had opened, when it was generally still empty. Three girls standing at the hostess counter (notice I did not say "greeting", because they didn't) took a few seconds to decide where oh where one single girl (me) could sit in their large empty restaurant before one finally took me 5 feet to a table.
I opened the menu and looked around, noticing that there were more employees than patrons. I knew they had just opened for the day, so it wasn't unusual.
After choosing an entree I closed my menu to signal I was ready and sat quietly watching the servers in their black dresses walk past me, one after the other. No one made eye contact with me, no one attempted to help me, so I just sat and waited.
Five minutes after I sat down, a guy was seated at a table next to me. He hadn't been there one minute before a waitress was there taking his drink and appetizer order. As for me, I still sat drinkless. I tapped on my menu and waited some more.
When the waitress brought the man his drink and appetizer, I looked around impatiently - maybe they couldn't see me? Maybe I was invisible? Finally a server came over, "hooray!" I thought...but all she wanted was to ask me if I'd been helped yet (not to actually help me - maybe they were trying to see how long they could ignore me before I went away). "No," I replied. She apologized (thus the "one star" rating above) and asked if I'd like something to drink, then did the most baffling thing. Instead of getting my Diet Coke, she walked over to the hostess stand and started socializing (hugging, talking) with her coworkers! No one was tending the bar or I would have ordered it myself. Why did she ask me if she wasn't going to get it for me?
I sat there, starving and madder by the minute, dumbfounded that apparently you need to have male plumbing to be served here.
I decided to go across the street to Corner Bakery, the ol' standby. It might not be as fancy as Earl's, but at least you get fed and watered in a reasonable amount of time. I was surprised when the three hostesses looked surprised that I was leaving. I walked past the three employees at the hostess stand, and the two black-dressed servers sitting outside on the patio (what a cush job!) and decided never to come back or refer anyone to Earl's.
You'd think that in this economy, high-end trendy restaurants would be everything and anything they could to make sure anyone who came to their establishment was treated well to ensure repeat business. Not Earl's! It's too bad that none of those 9 employees took the time to help me, I happen to be a very big tipper.
Terrible service.. We were extremely disappointed with the service here. The server disappeared for long periods of time, and one of our credit cards was overcharged by $200 (but eventually refunded). We were stuck there for over an hour trying to settle our bill and could not find the server to fix charges that were incorrect. We got the feeling she was hoping that because we were such a large group and had a couple drinks that we would just pay and leave since she was nowhere to be found. The manager eventually stepped in and apologized, but wouldn't take off or lower the server's gratuity. The server wouldn't let us talk to the manager without her watching over his shoulder. The food was decent and the atmosphere was comfortable, but not worth being treated like nothing but an easy tip in the server's pocket. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Kids not welcome!. My husband & I tried to bring our well-behaved toddler & a friend from out of town to eat at Earl's, but they do not offer highchairs or booster seats. Earl's missed out on a decent size check on a weekday night. Thank goodness there are so many wonderful kid friendly options for a nice dinner in downtown Denver, but Earl's just isn't one of them!
Love Earl's, BUT.........
If you are a somewhat attractive girl and show up at Earl's, you can completely forget about MOST of the waitresses waiting on you! If you are a guy, good luck. So, if you are a guy, and just want to meet some waitresss, you are in luck. But, if you are a guy, hanging out with friends, and are open to meeting a girl with a great job, who happens to be attractive, GOOD LUCK! MOST of the waitresses here don't offer the girls drinks. I was there recently and we waited and hour and a half for someone to come by our table. We had to go to the bar to get our drinks, to save ourselves from guys we didn't want to talk to buying ours. To make matters worse, my AMEX magically disappeared. There is ONE girl who is always so nice and friendly, and she deserves recognition...as soon as I find out her name I'll post it!
So, guys, think seriously if you are EVER thinking about hooking up with these girls, not only do they drive the pretty, successful girls away, they may grab your credit card!
best FOOD in Denver. Earls is one of the best restaurants in Denver. Between the friendly staff, the AMAZING food, and the fun, hip atmosphere, it is a great place to go. They have a casual lounge area with tons of flat screen tv's which is great for watching the game, having a drink, or a quick meal with friends. They have an upstairs seating area which is more of a formal sit-down-great-to-take-a-date kind of place. They also have a great balcony which overlooks 16th street mall and all of the interesting people that walk by. They have a great variety of food on their menu, making it easy for everyone to find something they will enjoy (even vegetarians!). The steaks, ribs, and jerra chicken curry are all to die for! The quality and portions you get make the prices on this menu very reasonable. Thursday night they have $4 mojitos (try the frozen one) and on weekends they have $5 martinis that all of my friends take advantage of. All in all, this is a fun place to go, whether you are out for a casual or formal dining experience.
