TranZenDance, described as a "Yogic or Zen Sanctuary with Poles," features a contemporary Asian decor in a secure, private space. In lieu of the traditional mirrors that one would expect in a dance studio, oil paintings and sculptures from Indonesia decorate the walls. Soft, dim lighting sets the scene for the sensual workout of the "pole dance" where participants, who may initially feel self-conscious about their bodies, become at-ease upon realizing that it is too dark to see much more than their silhouettes. \n\nRegarding the ambience, owner and lead instructor, former NYC Joffrey Ballet dancer, Dr. Lori Huett emphasizes "the setting creates an opportunity to delve within and experience this movement from the inside-out, unleashing the sensuality that lies dormant in the depths of our bodies." \n\nWe hope to meet and dance with you soon! A "Must Try!".
With little experience (4-5 classes max) I enrolled in the Tuesday evening Level I-II class. The level of instruction and caliber of women
at this studio are incomparable. The two hour class flew by as did the initial doubts that I had before we started. Lauri does a tremendous job making sure everyone's needs in class are responded to, and the community is so welcoming and comfortable to join. All of the technical questions I had coming in were answered. (I had taken a series of crowded classes elsewhere through Group-On - where hardly any of the moves were demonstrated or broken down.)
At the end of class, there was another class starting. Again, all of the women coming in to dance were upbeat and friendly.
I signed up to join the class that I started with this past week and I cannot wait for my next session.
My experience at this studio is much more consistent with what Oprah and several other shows have covered on pole dancing for confidence.

A studio like no other!. This studio is so uplifting! I am not a dancer, but with the care these instructors provide everyone becomes one.
Blown away!. I was hesitant to come in to a first time class since I have not worked out in years and I have never considered myself to be coordinated in any way. To my surprise, I felt immediately comfortable. For one, the women in class range in age. The class that I took was small, and I liked the personal attention the other women and I received. And what a great workout! I was sore for days and have been since signing up. View Less … View More
We booked a bachelorette pole class. My sister and friends planned a bachelorette pole dance party for me on Saturday. Literally four days later, I am still sore from this workout. Not only is this studio high class but this workout was much different than expected - in a good way. (You never know what to expect when you talk about, "pole dancing," right?!) After our experience, I can see how pole dancing is such a great workout. Lauri's demonstration for all of us was indescribable - something you have to witness for yourself. Overall, our experience was superb. We had a ton of fun and actually got a workout in before our evening of drunken debauchery. Very memorable! View Less … View More
Spiritually based pole dancing. I came to Tranzendance in search of a new way to exercise. I had no idea that these classes would reconnect me to a greater sense of myself, as well as a wonderful community. View Less … View More
