Psycho Owner and Terrible Experience. I have been to Encore every week for the last six months. Of course, I have usually been there on a Tuesday evening when the place is not busy. Last night I went with three other friends and the experience was surreal. When we arrived, we had to change our reservation from 8 to four and the host was terribly rude (as if we had ruined his night). When we were seated it took several minutes for a waiter to arrive. We ordered and two of us were splitting a pizza. The waiter returned and told us there would be a four dollar split charge for sharing a pizza (WTF). One of my friends then told the waiter to not worry about the splitting and the waiter told him that he would have to pay the charge anyway if he sat at the table and didnt order a meal (WTF?) My friend then complained to the host and all of a sudden...a psycho woman approached and told us that if we didnt calm down, we would be asked to leave. (WTF?) She even said she recognized me and that we didnt have to go there if we didnt like the service. Now here is the funny one...two of my friends are in the media business and run national blogs, one friend is an event planner, and I am a speaker. needless to say, I have never seen such rude and stupid service. I will never go back and suggest you dont either.

Unexplainable service today. We went to Encore this morning as we usually do twice a month. We invited some friends to join us for there for their first time at one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. It was a beautiful fall day and our friends were bringing their dog with them. Encore is the perfect patio to tie up the hound and enjoy an awesome burger on the patio. When we got there, we noticed another couple sitting on the patio and were excited to take a spot out there as well. After checking with the hostess, we were informed that the patio was closed and that we would have to sit inside. What a bummer. When I asked why another couple was out on the patio we were informed that they, "just sat themselves". Asking for an exception on this gorgeous day the owner of the restaraunt said that the patio was closed for the season. I would like to think that in an economic recession a restaurant, which relys on faithful neighborhood customers, would have opened up there lovely patio to some long time customers and possibly gain some new ones. We took our $150 to Vine Street pub and had a lovely time on their patio (which they opened up to folks who want to enjoy this beautifl fall day). I'll take my money there in the future.

A lovely place to have a drink. I would highly recommend this beautiful bar as a nice after-work or early evening weekend spot. The drinks have a nice, old-fashioned element to them and are well-prepared. The wine list is elegant and generally affordable. It's nice to enjoy an appetizer or two but there isn't much variety. The entrees are all pretty expensive. For happy hour and ambience, it's probably the most sophisticated drink spot on Colfax.

Excellent Happy Hour!!!!. Simple ingredients expressed in fabulous dishes! Has to be the best Happy Hour in town! Very friendly staff and lovely ambiance. Great place for a date or just a casual drink and snack.
