Great patio - good place for sushi.
We went to Izakaya on a Friday night for dinner, early before the crowds hit. We had no wait and got seated at a lovely patio table. The Izakaya patio is great - it's covered but at the same time you still have the feeling of sitting outdoors. The service was wonderful, super fast and friendly. Here are a few highlights of the food:
- Cold sake (loved it) - they have a few bottles to choose from, we tried the mid-priced one and it was great. It's served on ice in beautiful little tinted glasses - points for presentation!
- Tempura shrimp + veggie appetizer = perfect! Tempura done just right.
- Sushi rolls (all were great, even the Kobe beef which can be tricky to get right)
Overall great place, will be back!

Better than Sushi Den: Because it's quieter.
I love Sushi Den and Izakaya Den. Thank you to the wonderful brothers that made South Pearl Street such a dining mecca. But Izakaya Den is always at the top of my list for two reasons: 1.) It's so much quieter than Sushi Den and 2.) It has a Med. tapas menu for people who might not love Sushi or for those who just want to mix it up. If you want sushi but have a friend who doesn't - this is a great alternative to it's sister restaurant Sushi Den. Best Dish: Wasabi Sashimi
