Denver >Bars & Clubs > Ling & Louie's Asian Bar
About Dec 2010 they changed their menu (for the worse), changed their recipes (by increasing cheap ingredients and eliminating the more pricey ingredients) and reduced the portions. So if you want to pay too much and leave hungry, this is the place.
The service is inconsistent – from very good the very poor. The management seems uninterested.
After boycotting for almost 2 months, I gave it another try today. The service was pretty good, but the “chef” didn’t even know mussels are supposed to be open when served. Downhill big time! It’s even hard to use my gift cards.
Service was great. Food was awesome. Happy Hour Food was inexpensive and full portions.
The Sliders were great! The banana dessert thing was tasty. My wife loves the Honey Walnut Chicken. Try the sizzling salmon.
NOTHING BEATS IT FOR GLUTEN FREE!. Ling & Louie's is the first restaurant I have discovered that is not only safe for and offers MANY choices for those of us who have to eat Gluten Free due to health reasons, but the GF food is FANTASTIC! My husband is not Gluten Intolerant as I am, but he and I share the Orange Chicken because he loves it so much, as do I. Not to mention that this is the only place I have come in contact with that has GF Soy Sauce available. Excellent place.
DO NOT SUPPORT THIS RESTAURANT!. The managers are very homophobic. The food may be great, but support the gay community by NOT supporting them with your business! America is in a time of change and hope, and to have adults running businesses that still support hatred is as unethical as it was in the 60's. If you enjoyed this food, please consider giving economic support to P.F. Changs. You will get a quality meal, and will NOT be supporting hatred and bigotry. Thank you!
Romantic. Fun. Spicy..
I LOVE spicy food. This last time I ordered the evil princess chicken. SUPER SPICY and great flavor. My absolute favorite thing is the chicken satay skewers wth peanut sauce!!
We spent Mother's Day earlier this year with Ling and Louie (a pretty large party). Our server, Lynne, made us feel like we were the only people in the place. My husband and I have been back for a nice meal alone, as well. Again, we had Lynne as our server and had a wonderful, prompt meal.
We also have a toddler who likes to be antsy in restaurants. The wait was a bit long for his taste, but pretty average for our dining experiences in general. If I remember correctly, they gave the kids in our party some waxed strings to make figures. If you go for lunch and sit on the patio, that is absolutely WONDERFUL! My kids like to play in the water feature just outside the restaurant. After lunch or dinner, we go "taste test" at the Sweet Factory next door.
The only bad experience I had was with a particular server named Gabrielle. I felt unwelcomed and bothersome to her. She wouldn't respond when we tried to get her attention for salt and pepper, and passed by our empty water glasses the whole time we were there. When it came time for the bill, my husband and I were enjoying eachother's company way longer than usual, until Gabrielle came by and took our credit card off the table without presenting a bill or even asking for it. No "thank you." No "have a nice evening."
It is a wonderful space that is romantic or fun, and is surrounded by more fun things to do.
OK if you want to have to soak your tongues in ice and TUMS for the rest of the night?. Restaurant sounded great. We called and asked if they were family friendly, had simple stuff for kids and seniors, they said yes. What a horrible mistake! I get it when spicy dishes are spicy, but rice? Lo Mien? Even the water and Iced Teas seemed to have pepper in them. The Calamari is served with the hot sauces already poured on ? who the heck does that in America today? We specifically asked for some dishes to be made without pepper, wassabi or anything with a kick and had to settle for third choice to get that ? which would have been fine, but that third choice also burned a hole through the plate. Our family of five (12 to 83yo) all left with sour stomachs and burning mouths. This was the worst meal of our week in the Denver area. Run there and enjoy this stuff if you have been smoking all your life and have no active taste buds left in your mouth. However, if you have the ability to taste and enjoy food without the need to start oral campfires, run the other way.
huge appetizers, ahi tuna to die for, beautiful atmosphere and they make you feel welcome.
Friendly fun place with superb black orchid ahi tuna ,great coconut curry seafood stew.
My husand loved the sizzling beef. The appetizers are huge, split them with the kids.
We had a small party there of appetizers and drinks. The proprietor could not have been more gracious or generous. Works for us.
Great Bar: food, drinks, atmosphere and bartenders. The first time my wife and I went to L&L, we got what we remember as a bowl of rice with some meat. After the better part of a year we gave it a second chance. This time we sat at the bar and ordered appetizers. What a difference! We had a sushi-like rare cooked tuna, and an asian wrap. We liked the variety on the menu with smaller portions. The best part is the atmosphere in the bar. There are all sorts of different people in there enjoying the food and the company of the girls behind the bar. Not quite Coyote Ugly, but a friendly place.
I love good Asian food, and unfortunately this was NOT it. The service was ridiculously slow, and the food was pretty mediocre. My husband said he gets better pad thai at Noodles & Co.
Friends of ours like to take their kids to this place, and they did have cute platters for kids. For our impatient toddler, prompt service is more important! Give it a shot; maybe they were having a bad day during our visit....
Excellent, not-too-heavy asian food. Great food, excellent prices, phenomenal waitstaff, and a great place to bring visitors since it's right on the way to DIA! We love the Mongolian Beef and Honey Walnut Shrimp with a side of the mixed Veggies (a huge serving!) In fact, all of their portions are rather large and probably big enough to share with an appetizer. The brown rice is also outstanding, and we love their fresh, calming decor! Would highly recommend to anyone!!!
