Denver >Prime Bar
Best Cook in Colorado. Just spoke with an old friend who is cooking at the Prime Bar on the 16th Street Mall - Jacob is the best - he cooks with heart and soul and a smile thrown in ! No matter what he serves up its always gonna be good, so get down to the Prime Bar and enjoy his cooking. Tell him Firewoman Jenifer sent you! And enjoy!
Worth a Second Try.
I went in to Primebar for the first time last summer when it opened and was sadly disappointed with the menu options. Service was decent, but nothing to write home about.
However, I received a to-go menu from a girl (I'm assuming a waitress there) on 16th St. a few weeks ago and realized the menu is new. I brought a couple of friends there for a happy hour (decently priced for the alcohol pour our table noticed) and we all loved everything! Fun servers and great food...especially for $5 on a Friday night at 630. We heard the manager comp the tab for the table next to us because "it was a lucky day." Though we were all upset it wasn't our lucky day, we have been returning to try our luck!
I'm currently planning a bachelorette party there in the back bar. The planner has been awesome and I'm able to reserve a whole bar with private bartender for the event for cheap!
To every cynic out there...try this bar/restaurant, whether for the first time or for a second chance.
All Around a Great Place!. I LOVE this bar. Great new managers, friendly staff, great crowd! I have eaten there a few times now, their $5 happy hour menu is fantastic! They have about 12 different food items for $5 and about 10 martinis and cocktails on the happy hour menu....Try the deviled eggs or one of their flat bread pizzas to start. A few menu items we have tried and loved: tuna fish tacos, baked mac n cheese, goat cheese burger....Havent had anything less than amazing here yet! The Pomegranate and the Pear martinis are so delicious! Also if you are a mojito fan like I am they make them fresh and they are so yummy....try the mountain mojito! The crowd is always great, good mix of age groups. GREAT location right on 16th and arapahoe, GREAT outdoor seating area...cant go wrong!
WOW PRIMEBAR WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT. I used to hear nothing but bad things about primebar about a year ago. I stopped in the other day and I was blown away with the quality of service and the taste and presentation of the food. I was told that over the past year a new management team has stepped in and really stepped up to the plate. That is evident in the experience I had there. I will defenatly keep coming back time and time again. Also they have some amazing new specials such as $2 burger Tuesdays and really great Happy Hour Specials too.
primebar for primetime.
Me and my friends meet here for any special occasion (aka reasons to drink)
The happy hour menu has all the best appetizers and because it's only $5 we are able to order a bunch and share. My favorites are the Buffalo Chicken Tenders and the Flatbread pizzas.
There is always room for us regardless if it is just me and another friend of a big group of us from work.
The drinks are great for beer drinkers and martini drinkers alike. The drink i get there no matter what time is the Jalapeno Margarita, i think they call it the primebar margarita but I call it the jalapeno one because it is garnished with real fresh jalapenos that makes the drink sweet and spicy at the same time....very odd feeling which is addictive.
Sit on the Patio it's the best seat in the house!
Food Good, Service Bad.
We walked in and seated ourselves, since it was a bar-like area and there was a hosting stand but nobody standing there. Waitstaff proceded to ignore us, often walking right by us and avoiding our eyes. This went on for about 15 minutes. Right as we were deciding to walk out, the waiter came up. When we said we'd been waiting for a long time, all he said was, "Well, do you still want to order?" I did -- I was hungry.
When our food was en route to the table, the waitress holding it stopped just short of our table and started a discussion with another waitress...for over a minute.
The food, as I've said, was good, especially for a $2 burger, and the iced tea was fine, but the only smile we got all night was from a person who brought water. Our waiter ignored the bill with the credit card hanging out of it, waiting for payment, for over ten minutes, though he walked past our table about 4 times.
I'm really not a high-maintenance person, but I do expect to be treated with consideration. And I understand that it's not much fun to be a waiter, especially on $2 burger night. But it's called "customer service" for a reason -- and I got very little there. So even though the food was fine, I don't recommend you go there. There are plenty of other places on the Mall that are more deserving of your time and money where the food is just as good.
One more thing: yes, it has a chic atmosphere. Nice wood, dim lighting, an attractive bar, an impressive wine rack. But being cool and hip is first and foremost about being kind and welcoming, not about decor. This is something most people learn before they're out of high school, but it doesn't seem to have sunk in here, sad to say.
