Level 9 is incredible! Book Early.
We went through a big box store to install counters in our kitchen and 3 bathrooms. When we found out we needed someone to take out and reinstall the 5 sinks and cooktop, Level 9 was recommended. How we wish we had cut out the big box store and dealt directly with Kevin! What a knowledgable, hard-worker and pleasent guy!
He came the day of the counter installations at 7am and reinstaled the same night in order for us not to loose water for an extra 1-2 days! He told us what parts we needed to upgrade and those we could re-use safely. He was mindful of our budget and time needs. He saved us lots of money over the costs to have the big box people do the work. As a side issue, he fixed our dishwasher connection and installed a new faucet/shower set in our MB so I wouln't have to open it with pliers anymore.
He was so good, we are having him finish our basement with a studio BR/Study, 3/4 bath, laundary and storage rooms! The only problem, he is constantly busy with projects so book early.
Kevin is an artiste! I have a dog shower in the garage that's prettier than the one in HGTV's Dream Home! The tile work is gorgeous.
He replaced many plumbing fixtures in my newly purchased condo. All of his work is meticulous.
Kevin's integrity, sense of humor, and neatness make him the best. He's a level 10!
Great Work!. I have used Level 9 Interiors twice and will use and recommend them again and again! I had them remodel both of my bathrooms which turned out beautifully! I have depended on Kevin to help maintain our rental (since we moved out of state) as well. He is always quick to respond and very reasonably priced.
An Eye for Details!.
I have used Level 9 Interiors to remodel three different rooms in my home and I have already recommended this company to my neighbors!
In 2009, I used Level 9 Interiors (owner's name is Kevin) to remodel my master bathroom. It turned out beautifully. Kevin and his assistants did everything including initial demolition, pouring a new concrete shower pan, building shower niches, installing faucets, sinks, granite countertops and tile. They even hung my new towel bars! As they were finishing my master bathroom and I saw the wonderful improvement, I decided to also have Kevin remodel the children's bathroom as well.
In 2010, I was ready to remodel my kitchen and once again I hired Level 9 Interiors! Kevin added ceiling lighting, under-cabinet lighting, moved light switches, installed granite countertops, added crown molding to my existing cabinets and built an amazing lighted wooden canopy to accent the new stainless steel hood over my stove. My favorite addition to the kitchen was the new beautiful custom end-caps that were made for the kitchen island. All the new wood-work was built and painted to match my existing cabinets perfectly. My kitchen went from boring to impressive!!
I would hire Kevin again because he listens carefully to understand my exact expectations. His construction abilities are executed with an artistic touch. He has a great eye for noticing small details and the expertise to create a good design. He is patient and spends the extra time to make sure that the job is done perfectly and to my satisfaction. I will definitely call on him again when it's time for my next remodel.
I bought a 1947 ranch in Montclair in Denver, but it had sat empty 3 and a half years before I was ready to move to it. And I was NOT going to enter it before a ton of work needed to get done. I had hired 2 contractors to do some needed work, and both were liars and cheats, who did nothing and charged for it. One actually stole one of the kitchen appliances! To say the least, I trusted no one and was disgusted by the industry.
When I came across Kevin, I noticed something I had not found before: brain cells that actually fired! He moved quickly, he analyzed quickly, he didn't waste words, energy, time, or most importantly, my meager resources at the time.
I had been in the remodeling business for 9 years before moving to Denver so I am well-acquainted with decent work and sloppy work, and Kevin's workmanship is old-school, true craftsmanship. Edges meet, things are level, not left tilted, when something was fixed into the wall, it did not wiggle.
He went from my crawl space to my attic to my roof to make sure everything was in order for me to move in without little or large problems showing up later.
I trust him and his work implicitly. So glad I know him! My house feels like a home because of his excellent and conscientious work.
UPDATE END of 2011:
I used Kevin again on a large remodel project recently. I do not want to detail the stresses of that project, but the last sentence of my first paragraph above has proven true. Kevin outlined the payment schedule: 25% up front, 50% halfway through, and the last 25% to be paid at completion. I do not know if it was because we were friends or what, but he asked for half of the last payment to be paid ahead of schedule, and then he asked for half of the remainder to be paid ahead of schedule again (because his ex-wife was having financial difficulties, he said. Was that MY problem?), and after we both aired our frustrations with the project one evening, he declined to come back and finish, texting me to find a handy man to do the unfinished work. My fault, since he had little financial incentive to come back, I suppose.
He also took $2,000 for supplies and materials, and told me many times that he had the receipts for the items he purchased, but when I asked for the receipts I received silence on his part. Previously, when he worked on my house and bought supplies, he used his money first and had me reimburse him once he produced the receipts. Again, I guess because we were friends, he felt to do differently on the second project and asked for $2K up front (and all payments in cash, please!) yet has not produced a single receipt.
Just use your judgment. Many workmanship problems with work in second project (slanted shelving installed, constant doing and redoing of the same items by Kevin and those he hired because they did not remember verbal instructions or look at WRITTEN instructions. Spackling that was painted over but never smoothed down first, nail heads that were left exposed on trim work. Damage to property, etc, etc...
Kevin told me I was responsible for 2 of the 7-weeks delay; and the other 5 weeks??? His exact words were, "You were subject to my availability!" He would not show up at the job site for days on end, and more often than not when he did, he came late in the day and left early. So different than my first experience. Sadly, can not recommend him as I once did.
Excellent Craftsmanship, Surprisingly FAST turn around time.
WOW, Kevin McVay has a Long Lost Excellent Work Ethic! He provided the best customer service I've ever had when hiring a contractor! I needed some work done at the house and wanted to be careful about who I hired to walk into my home.
Kevin showed up on time and ready to hit the ground running. I needed some gutters repaired, and he pointed out all of the mistakes the roofing contractor left me with and ended up fixing shingles and siding as well while he was up there. Probably saved me a nightmare and a bundle of cash with what could have easily turned into a leak in the roofing - thank God this guy had some insight!
Once we started talking he let me know he was locally owned for something like 25 years (which was hard to believe when you look at him). Not 2 months later, my garbage disposal wouldn't work. I figured it was the switch. I called Kevin back and yet again, he identified that it wasn't just the switch, but that the disposal had a crack in it (again...leaking into the dark cabinet...I hadn't even noticed !). He replaced both and probably saved me from a molding situation under the cabinet (and yes, he checked for any water damage under the cabinet too!).
He started telling me about all the remodels and counter top work he does regularly and I felt glad that he took the time to do my "smaller" jobs as well.
I'm glad I called him and I WILL be spending my tax return money digging into a kitchen countertop remodel that he gave me an EXTREMELY reasonable estimate on!
Great prices, nice guy, and he actually swept up after himself both times he did work on my house - as I said, a LONG LOST work ethic...one of the 'good guys' still around, I'd recommend him to anyone!
