Tips for Hideaway Steakhouse

beautiful renovations, BUT.... Absolutely beautiful inside. My husband and I decided to try the bar menu food before committing to dinner. Went there for the first time Friday, May 6th at 3:30. Pleasantly surprised to see quite a few people at the bar. Excellent happy hour, nice music. Great bar ambiance. Ordered the Escargot and they were very good, better than I ever remember them at other restaurants. The garlic wine sauce was delicious. Also ordered the lobster twice baked potato (for $10 none the less) and that was the deal breaker. It was ONE HALF of a small baked potato, served on a tiny white plate with no presentation effects. I don't think it was twice baked either. It was very charred, and if there was lobster in it somewhere, it was undetectable. It was basically one oversisized potato skin. For ten dollars. Now I am not so sure I want to spend an entire dinner here. We will give it ONE more chance and order the hamburger and NY Strip steak sandwich...again from the bar menu. If that doesnt pass the food test, Hideaway will be a great upscale bar to enjoy a few drinks in. Nothing more for us. To be continued....

Great non-chain steakhouse. After watching the old nasty building that use to be a horrible Mexican restaurant get transformed into the Hideaway Steakhouse I couldn't wait to try it out. I was not disappointed at all. We had a 7pm reservation and where seated right on time. The service was great. We had water with in a couple of minutes of sitting down and a waitress soon after. The menu is all locally grown and grain feed beef. I ordered the fillet mignon medium and it was cook perfectly. My mom got the spare ribs and raved about how good they were. The restaurant itself is very well done. They gutted the place and spent some money fixing it up. I will diffidently be going back.

Terrible steakhouse. Start with service. Reservation at 6 pm for 2. Arrived at 5:55 pm with open tables throughout the restaurant. Was made to wait for 15 minutes while glasses and place settings were removed. Given apology and excuses, not accepted. Martini and pour on scotch were very good. Had to ask for bread with our salads. Waited 5 minutes for bread to be served. Ordered a filet mignon (traditional bacon strip missing) and strip steak, ordered to be cooked medium. Easy for a steakhouse, right? Both steaks were dry and crusty on the outside, dry and tasteless on the inside. Steak was barely warm when served. It was as if he steaks had been precooked and sat under a warming light for 2 hours. I ordered a side of onions. For $5, I received about 1/3 cup of sauteed onions. Serving onions like they were gold. Spent $130 (inclusive of bottle of wine). Horrible food, terrible service, although a nice ambiance. This was a rip off.
