Laser hair removal
Skin types
Let our experts determine the laser that’s right for your skin.Regardless of your skin type, laser hair removal technology works well for just about everybody. Because of advancements in technology, our lasers offer great results for various hair colors & skin types—including all ethnicities.
When tanning season is hereSure, you may want a deep dark tan to go along w/ hair free, smooth skin, but tanning diminishes the results of laser treatment. That means giving the sun, tanning beds & lotions a vacation during treatment. For the laser to work best, a skin to hair contrast must be visible to the eye & to the laser. In short—bronzed skin tone from a day on the boat typically requires postponing treatment until the skin tone fades.
Cynosure apogee elite laser dual laser used for following skin types–
Nd: yag 1064 nmRecommended for thick dark colored hairs, & medium to dark skin tone.
Alexandrite 755nmIndicated for medium to dark hair & fair to medium skin tone.
Laser treatment procedure
Before treatmentThe treatment procedure involves paperwork first. Arrive a few minutes early to complete some paperwork–medical history, current meds & contact information. Before the treatment, a consultation is the starting point. A registered nurse (rn) will sit down to discuss what results you would like to achieve. She will review history forms & review the consent for treatment form before the procedure begins. The rn selects which laser and/or which procedure is best for your skin type. All pre & post treatment instructions/precautions will be discussed–then she will develop a treatment plan best for you. A written price quote will explain costs for each treatment, package details & cost savings. Also included –pricing of any maintenance treatment (discounts start at your seventh treatment). Depending on treatment location, the nurse will walk you through the process advising you what to do during the procedure.
During treatment
Wear eye protection – it’s mandatoryEach laser requires a different pair of safety glasses to filter harmful rays. And it’s simply because each laser varies in wavelength. Everyone in the treatment room must use the safety glasses for eye protection. That means— nurses, clients & in-treatment room visitors must all wear protective eyewear. Length of treatments depends on hair density & size of treatment area. Runs from 10 to 90 minutes.
Female laser treatment areas
Facial hairRemove unwanted hair around the upper lip, chin, along the jaw line, below temples near the ears & eyebrows. Working w/ clean skin renders the best results. Before getting started, we cleanse the skin of makeup. Chemicals from cosmetics may hinder the effectiveness of treatment, cause adverse skin effects or skin discoloration.
EyebrowsAfter help you decipher a nice shape for your eyebrows, make-up is removed & then the procedure begins.
Underarm areaEnjoy silky smooth underarm skin after we clear the entire area. Baby wipes remove any deodorant at the time of treatment–a clean surface helps increase effectiveness of the laser treatment. Going back to work? We offer spray deodorant or baby powder, to help you feel clean & dry. Apply deodorant shortly after laser treatment–only if the skin does not feel hot.
LegsSelect a partial area, that includes the calves & ankles. Or toss the razor altogether & enjoy a full leg treatment, that includes the ankles, calves & thighs.
Bikini areaWomen-we offer four treatment levels to help you select the level right for you–don’t be shy, we have seen it all.
Basic bikiniRemoves hair along edge of & inside panty line & abdominal trail. A popular choice for women who no longer want hair exposed while wearing swimsuit.
Extended bikiniStill want us to take more off? Same as basic bikini but leaves a smaller patch of hair or goes further down the thigh.
Limited bikiniIncludes above, plus gluteal fold or #### area, labia, & leaves a patch of hair to your comfort level. You choose the right look for you.
Full bikiniAt your command, we take it all. A great choice for those accustom to continual waxing & shaving—or if you simply want zero hair. Not sure? Remember this choice is permanent.
Male laser treatment areas
Bikini area-menSelect from four treatment levels & select the level right for you–don’t be shy, we have seen it all.
Basic bikini, menRemoves hair along edge of underwear line & portion inside underwear – includes inner thigh & seat area—a popular choice for cyclists.
Extended bikiniSimilar to above, but leaves a smaller patch of hair. Includes feathering at inner thighs.
Limited bikiniSame as above- plus a larger portion of pubic area, gluteal fold (####) & scrotum. Another popular choice for cyclists.
Full bikiniClears hair in the entire pubic region, including the gluteal fold (####), & scrotum. A feathering technique is used to thin the hair on the top portion of the thighs in the front & back.
Laser hair removal pre-treatment instruction:
When tanning season is here avoid the sunSure, you may want a deep dark tan to go along w/ hair free, smooth skin, but tanning diminishes the results of laser treatment. That means giving the sun, tanning beds & lotions a vacation during treatment. For the laser to work best, a skin to hair contrast must be visible to the eye & to the laser.
Little bit of stubble a good thingBest practices– continue shaving & clipping hairs at home. Best to do just a few days before the procedure. Visible stubble helps us out. Short hair is easily missed–long hair can be more painful. Forgot to shave? No problem, we can clip it before treatment.
Please do not wax or tweezeThe hair root must be present - tweezing or waxing will remove the root & we cannot kill it if it's gone!
Men w/ thick beardsShave the morning of the appointment–facial hair will be visible & workable by late afternoon appointment time. Working on thick facial hair can be sensitive. We want to increase your overall comfort throughout the procedure. With too much growth, the procedure can feel too intense. As the hair grows out, it becomes thinner. We encourage you to come in w/ somewhat longer hairs when it begins to thin–that helps us work w/ finer hairs.
Stop bleaching 7-10 days before next procedureStill have some bleached hairs at treatment time? Not to worry, these hairs will die, but will not burn off completely during treatment.
Cease the tweeze immediately—same goes for waxingBefore the next appointment, do not tweeze or wax for at least 10-14 days. Even better, opt for shaving or clipping w/ small scissors.
Post-treatment instructions:
IrritationRedness & bumps are normal & usually last about two hours. The sunburn feeling could stick around from 4 to 48 hours. Apply cold compress to relieve discomfort.
Cosmetics use + frequent moisturizerHeading back to the office? Apply makeup & moisturizer only if the skin does not feel hot. Heavy makeup traps heat which prolongs redness. Opt for powder make up or minerals. Use moisturizers liberally–it helps exfoliate dead hair from follicles.
Sun exposureAvoid the sun & always use at least 25 spf throughout treatment. Light or dark spots may appear on treated areas when exposed to the sun’s ultra violet rays. Wide-brimmed hats provide additional sun shield. Cover up when out in the sun for long periods of time.
Avoid picking or scratching treated skin. Moisturize if the area becomes irritated.
In between treatmentsShaving or clipping hair is suggested. Tweezing or waxing is not. That’s because such hair removal methods hinder the results you want to achieve–smooth silky, hair-free skin.
Hair color & skin tonePlease click here to see recommendations in the skin types section.
Shedding hairGood- that’s what we want & it may occur from 5 to 30 days after treatment. Don’t confuse shedding w/ new growth, it’s not the same thing. Most likely, you are seeing dead hair that’s being released from the follicle. Rub the area to exfoliate hairs–it works great in the shower w/ a washcloth or loofah sponge.
Reduce underarm skin irritationFor the first 24 hours, use powder instead of deodorant–it feels better. Resume use of deodorant when skin no longer feels hot.
For best resultsSchedule the first four treatments in 4 to 8 week intervals
Ears, neck4 weeks
Shoulders, arms, chest, back, abdomen, bikini4 to 6 weeks
Legs8 weeks
Repeat treatments deliver quality resultsAlthough minimal hair growth may appear in between sessions, treating the entire area during the interval window ensures the best results. Remember to schedule your next appointment in advance.
Spider veins
The procedure
What this laser can do for youThe cynosure laser not only removes hair but significantly diminishes the unsightly appearance of small spider veins. Drawn to the color of the veins— heat from the laser coagulates small amounts of blood in the vessel –the body slowly reabsorbs the blood. Afterwards, expect a bruised appearance for about 2-4 weeks. Most veins require about 2 or 3 treatments. Works well w/ fair to medium skinned clients. Then enjoy vein-free legs & face.
What does the treatment procedure involveArrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork—medical history, current meds & contact information.
Before treatment
Consultation is the starting pointA registered nurse (rn) will sit down to discuss the results you would like to achieve. She will review history forms, consent for treatment as well as a written price quote before the procedure begins. The best treatment course is then decided & shared w/ you. Next, the nurse will take photos to document a treatment starting point – photos help us record the severity of your condition & monitor improvement. Our nurses will review the pre & post treatment instructions & precautions. A treatment plan will be designed for your specific needs. The price quote outlines both the costs, discounts & expected treatment timeline.
What to expect during treatment
When treating facial veinsNurses remove all makeup, moisturizers & sunscreen prior to treatment. Clean skin improves treatment effectiveness.
The good newsFacial veins often completely disappear & without a prolonged, unattractive healing time. We help you protect your eyes by offering a pair of occlusive metal glasses worn during treatment. Short-term redness & welts may appear once the veins disappear.
How long does it lastA short period of time--welts usually disappear in about 2 hours or less—redness less than 2 days.
The area feels tight & clean just after treatmentTo soothe the skin, we apply tea tree oil, aloe vera or vitamin e. A regiment that decreases inflammation & revs up the healing process. Use cosmetics only when skin is unbroken & the area is not radiating heat.
Skin feels hotThat means hold off w/ cosmetics. It is normal for this area to feel warm or hot for several hours after treatment.
When treating leg veinsThe procedure can be intense & uncomfortable for blue-colored veins or when veins cover legs extensively.
Relief is in the airIcy cold air directed at the treatment site helps cool the skin prior to treatment & throughout.
What to expect after the treatmentRedness & welting may present after treatment. Throbbing is also reported among clients & may last from 2 to 4 hours. Bruising is normal. Leg veins can take 4-6 weeks before bruising resolves.
Comfort measuresTylenol taken before treatment helps minimize discomfort. If you have some perscription pain medication, such as vicodin or percocet, you can take that instead if you feel it may be needed (if you have a lot of leg veins or deep blue veins). If you are only doing facial feins, you should not even require the tylenol. Prescription pain medication may be taken 30 minutes before treatment--but please, arrange a safe ride home.
Requirements for treatmentSmall veins work best. That means no bigger than the width of a pencil lead. Larger veins require a more invasive technique such as sclerothearpy, which is done at a doctors office, not in our clinic.
Fair to medium skin tone shows promising resultsBlood coagulation requires high intensity light. Darker skin tones would require even more intensity—but that would produce unwanted blisters & scars. Clients must be within level 1-4 according to the fitzpatrick skin scale, which registers up to level 6.
Pre-treatment instructions
Avoid tanning, sun exposure & lotionsDo not expose treatment area to the sun or a tanning bed or booth at least 4 - 6 weeks before treatment. Tanned skin may cause blistering & possibly hypo pigmentation, identified as white spots, lasting for several months.
Avoid tanning lotions & creamsAround the treatment area for at least 10 days before treatment.
Taking high doses of iron other than a regular multi-vitaminIt may increase susceptibility to hyper pigmentation, characterized by increased pigment or brown spots. If pigmentation is affected, it's usually temporary. Clients w/ poor circulation (i.e. Diabetes), taking blood thinners (coumadin, warfarin, daily aspirin, etc.) May have poor or delayed healing if treated w/ the laser for leg veins.
Post-treatment instructions
Comfort measuresCold packs ease any temporary discomfort. Tylenol is recommended for discomfort if necessary.
Self careCare should be taken to prevent trauma to the treated area for the first 24 hours following treatment. Be careful shaving. Be aware of products w/ abrasive cleaners that could interrupt the natural healing process. Avoid any strenuous workouts, hot tubs & spas for 48 hours after treatment.
At home treatmentsIf the skin is broken or a blister appears, apply any topical antibiotic, such as bacitracin or neosporin. Want more protection? Keep the affected area covered & avoid direct sunlight while experiencing these symptoms.
RememberStay away from sun or tanning booth until the treatment area completely heals.
Stay upbeat, healing takes timeSpider veins often appear worse before they appear better. If the vein disappeared during a laser session & it reappears later, it may look darker in color. If this occurs it should slowly reabsorb by your body within 1—2 months.
Sun spots
Sunspot removal
Restore skin to its natural color w/ anti-aging laser technology
Consider laser treatments for sun spots-you will love your new skinThe colorado sun offers plenty of radiance, vitamin d & endless hours of outdoor activity. But too much sun packs a punishing result- sun spots or lentigos. Sun spots & other hyper-pigmentation appears on the skin as a darker color. It looks like a freckle but usually about the size of a pencil eraser, & sometimes larger. Laser technology is one of the leading methods to quickly diminish the look of sun spots. So, say good-bye to bleaching creams & let laser treatments erase the spotty look. Though commonly found in people w/ fair skin, sun spots can appear on almost any skin tone from repeated sun exposure/damage. Often found on the face & chest, the back & shoulders are also susceptible areas where sunscreen is often missed or forgotten altogether. Although hair removal requires a series of laser treatments as hairs grow in cycles, sun spots are often significantly reduced in just one treatment.
How it works. The laser burns off the pigment, so the darker the spot, the better the result. Dark spots become even darker, almost black. Then, the spot crusts up & flakes off. When treating the face, it can take 10-14 days before the crusting is completely gone. Crusting on the back, shoulders & chest may take 15 days or more before spots disappear. But the skin tone under the crusting is nicely matched to the surrounding skin tone. Wow! The results are impressive. Soon after treatment, most people say it looks pretty rough. Most opt not to do the procedure just before big social events. But when people see the results, they say, "oh my goodness it looks amazing."
Other accolades we hear from satisfied customers
"It's the Best Money I Ever Spent."
"It Has Taken Years Off My Face."
"I Used Bleaching Cream for Years w/ Only Minimal Results; With the Laser It Was Gone in Two Weeks!"
Sun spot tip
Sprouting up new sun spots remember to limit sun exposure.Stop sun spots before the show up on your delicate skin. Prevention is the best solution that keeps skin looking its best. Remember to use sunscreen w/ high spf ratings, 30 or above. Reapply sunscreen when out in the sun for several hours. Wide-brimmed hats & long sleeves pay dividends by shielding skin from the sun's punishing effects.
Electrolysis
What is electrology
Slow process—long lasting resultsElectrology is considered the only permanent solution available for light hairs such as reds, whites or grays. Often after a series of laser treatments (where, about 80% of the hairs are permanently gone) some electrolysis is required, as the hairs are so damaged by the laser & the target so small from the damage, that electrolysis is the only way to get rid of this last 20% or so. After treating each hair, we then remove it w/ tweezers. The skin may have some redness & follicular edema (hair follicle swelling) lasting about 2-4 hours.
Why some people choose laser treatment insteadLaser feels better, electrology is more intense. To increase your comfort level, our nurses administer a local anesthetic that numbs the skin.
At the consultation
Time to tell us what you wantAn rn will ask you questions, review medical history & pinpoint your needs for services. A treatment assessment will help the rn decide whether laser or electrology or both options are best for you. Next, we will explain the pre & post treatment instructions, precautions & the best treatment plan for you. Prior to treatment, the consent for treatment form must be signed.
Want to move forward after the consultLet’s get started—we usually book enough time during a consult because many clients are excited & ready to start treatment. First, we apply a fast acting topical anesthetic to the skin. Next, we apply a longer acting, stronger topical anesthetic to increase your overall comfort. Common practice for the lip area because of its sensitivity. If additional anesthetic is needed, we offer a topical anesthetic available for purchase. Apply 30 minutes on clean skin, prior to your appointment. Increased numbness makes the treatment more tolerable.
At your appointment
Paperwork firstArrive a few minutes early to complete some paperwork– medical history, current meds & contact information.
New sterile needles always usedSize of needles–tiny. About the size of a hair. We use sterile (autoclaved) tweezers & cap holders. The electrologist will always wear a mask & gloves. Magnifying glasses are sometimes used to insure a complete, accurate, effective treatment. After treatment, the area is cleaned w/ refreshing tea tree oil to decrease inflammation & jumpstart the healing process.
Expect some rednessTreatment area may appear red for 2-4 hours, whereas laser treatments may produce redness for up to 24 hours. Electrology procedures often produce more redness & bumps than laser treatment.
Repeat treatmentsFor complete clearance of hair, we recommend continued treatment at 1-3 week intervals for about 6 months to 2 years. But it all depends on how much hair you have & on your genetic & hormonal influence to grow hair (ie. Pcos or other hormone imbalance).
Convenient schedulingBook your next appointment at the front desk, online or call for an appointment. Interval times range from about 1-4 weeks in between treatments & often increase after the first few treatments—that means scheduling treatments out longer.
How long will it takeThat depends on hair density & the size of treatment area. Usually ranges from 10 to 90 minutes. See below for time estimates.
Post-treatment instructions

Keep area clean w/ soap, water, alcohol, or skin antiseptic
Avoid touching treatment area for about 4-6 hours
Use only fresh make-up less than 90 days old

Toe nail fungus
What is toe nail fungus & how does someone get itToenail fungus will often begin as a white or yellow spot under the tip of the toenail. As the fungus progresses deeper into the nail, it may cause a yellow, green or black discoloration, a thickening of the nail & develop crumbling or ragged edges. These fungus infections are most common in older adults & tend to affect men more often than women.
People are more in jeopardy of getting a fungal infection if the toenail has had traumaSuch as stubbing a toe or dropping something on the toenail. Trauma to the area allows a portal of infection for the toenail fungus to settle in the nail bed. Shoes & socks create a warm, dark & humid environment, which further encourages fungal growth. Clients are also more prone to a nail fungal infection if they have just recently taken an antibiotic, have a weak immune system, have been on steroids or have diabetes as well as genetics.
Treatment procedure
During treatmentDuring the treatment, the area will be treated until you feel the nail bed is getting hot. We also treat the skin surrounding the nail bed & under the nail tip. We recommend that each infected nail will be treated as well as the first healthy nail. We will cover each treated nail at least three times.
