After reading many of the review on this site about ‘Paris’ I’m going to make an assumption that most of the folks writing said reviews are yuppies wanting to shine and be number one in a café of over 100. Firstly I’ve worked in many kitchens, and while I wouldn’t say all the food here at Paris is top notch, it is pretty good and a few of their specialty foods are excellent. As for the coffee, most people are used to either Folgers or Starbucks; I’ve managed a coffee shop and have enjoyed coffees from all regions of the world. I will say REAL coffee is an acquired taste, Paris’ coffee while not the best I’ve had is far better then either the fore mentioned Folgers and Starbucks. The service in the day is pretty prompt and the staff are always polite. In the evening when the place never has less then 75 people, I does get cramped sometimes and the speed service does decline, its to be expected. As far as staff being rude, I have come to know a few and I will say they are as polite as the respect they are getting. Give a little get a little.
Pros: Great Place, Highly Recommend
Cons: Prior Reviews Were Poorly Done

I use to go here with friends all the time back in high school, now I know why it was a high school hang out. This place is pretty chill and great to go sit and chat over cups of chai tea and clove cigarettes for hours, but not good for anything else. If you're looking for food, go try My Brother's Bar located just down the street at the intersection of 15th and Platte. That place has really good burgers that are served fast. This place is really just for conversation, don't expect much more out of it and you won't be disappointed.
Pros: Good Coffee, Chai Tea, Smokes, and Chill Space
Cons: "OK" service at "OK" prices.. but just barely "OK"

There are few places to smoke in Denver any more - if you don't like smoke, don't go there. You can enjoy your coffee with your computer for hours at a time - nobody hassles if you are just sitting around. Food is rather good. I crave the nutty cheesy salad. It's a very relaxed atmosphere. If you are in a hurry, go elsewhere.
Pros: Free wi-fi
Cons: Looking old and shabby

This place has terrible service, you can't even breathe in there with all the smoke, and it's extremely dirty! It used to be enjoyable at one time and more clean but it has definitely gone downhill. The quality of the food and drinks has drastically gotten worse. They used to make the best Chai I've ever tasted and now it's either too spicy, too sweet, or has no flavor at all. Their food tastes like cheap frozen dinners. The place is really dirty. The bathrooms are filthy and something just does not seem right when you see baby flies all over the bathroom...can we say Maggots?...makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. Lastly...terrible service, these people expect tips? Yea right! They are rude rude rude! They will even yell at you if you don't tip them what they think they should get tipped! Forget this place.
Pros: music, scene
Cons: bad food, dirty, terrible service, smokey

A good friend of mine convinced me to go a few weeks ago, and I won't ever go back. The wine bar was ok, I do miss the musty, dusty book store though they should never have renovated it. But the service of the coffee shop?! My gawd! It was horrible! I ordered an Iced coffee from the gal behind the counter ( i think her name was Rachel or something, avoid her at all cost) whoi was extremely brisk and rude to not only me but every one else I saw her interact with. Other then the scared looking chef that is. I waited 20 minutes with out seeing anything that looked remotley like an iced coffee, and when I asked the same girl, she nearly bit my head off. I left with out the coffee and won't be going back. If the managment hired a few staff members that cared about good customer service, this place would be ok. Its crowded and smokey but thats ok, its a nice looking little place. But the service is absolutley horrid and I couldn't tell you what the coffee was like since I never saw mine. And if you do go, try the Godiva Chocholate Espresso Martini. It's the only thing that would even make me consider going back there.
Pros: Martini List
Cons: Service, smokey, small

Service was terrible! Took an hour to get sandwiches. Dinner salads took 1 hr 20 minutes!!! Restaurant was only 1/2 full or less. It's only a short walk to the corner to My Brother's Bar or Mona's. Food and beverages were very good.
Pros: Good food!
Cons: Abyssmal service!!!

My friend and I went in to Paris yesterday around 3pm. There was no line at all when we ordered our two cold sandwiches to go. The waitress barked at my friend, who ordered her sandwich verbatim from the menu. Apparently, the menu was printed incorrectly. After 30 minutes, I approached the register again to see if our order was coming. The waitress waved me off, assuring me the sandwiches were on their way out. The chef in the back looked stoned and seemed not to care about the number of order tickets accumulating on his spin-around. After 45 minutes of waiting, our sandwiches were brought to us. They tasted alright, but not worth the 45 minute wait. We walked past several angry customers on the way out as we vowed never to return. The staff at Paris wouldn't understand the meaning of customer service (or any multi-syllable phrase for that matter) if it was tattooed in black across their foreheads.

Ok, so Paris has been here for years and years. I have older friends who tell stories of when they went there in the early 90's with good memories. Personally, I like to call it home. Yes, the clientelle is very yuppie(ish)...Yes, the service really stinks sometimes...Yes, the coffee can be good (depending on how well it was roasted that week)...Yes, the music is blared so loud sometimes that you can't think...Yes, the chairs are incredibly uncomfortable and the tables are so close together that you feel everyone's in your bubble...And yes, they did close down the bookstore, but I feel that one thing makes up for it all - You can smoke legally here! The art is also typically decent and from local artists (although I'm sure that the colors are a lot brighter before they are hung up there...tar stains). To top this all off, the Internet (wireless AND wired) is fairly decent, as long as no one is downloading music illegally. Basically, if you want what God intended to be soulmates (coffee and cigarettes), and have some decent food, Paris on the Platte is an excellent choice for lunch to early morning fun.

This is a really unique place in Denver and a fun place to go with friends late at night. The different coffee drinks all taste really great and the people watching at this place is really something. It can get very smoky though. Great place to hang out on a Friday night!
Pros: Coffee and atmosphere
Cons: Service and parking

I am new to the area and an avid Latte drinker. I looked up this place from citysearch and drove about 15 miles in a hope to get good coffee. Needless to say my wife and I were thoroughly disappointed. Their latte tasted like "burnt wood." This recommendation is purely based upon the quality of their latte. IMHO: Don't go for their coffee.
Pros: Open late.
Cons: Bad coffee and service.
