We popped in here after the Cherry Creek Art Festival. We were seated right away, and got Carla as our server! She was great! We started with the seasoned edamame – OMG – gotta try it! Next we ordered waaay to much sushi! I’d say skip the hapa roll, and the rock n roll. But definitely get the Fire Cracker if they have it on special – mmmmm yummy! The caterpillar and dragon rolls were very delicious. The inari and egg were great as well. And the ending was the Org*sm Roll! WOW! The price was a bit high, but it was very very tasty and we will definitely be back!

Pros: Edamame, Rolls are the right size

Cons: Parking

Hapa in Cherry Creek was the second place I ever enjoyed sushi. It's held a little spot in my heart for many years, and although I have never thought it was the very best, it's always been an alright experience. Unfortunately the service and food quality has greatly declined in the last 8-10 months. On my most recent experience the waitress forgot our drinks but remembered them about halfway through the meal and brought them out. The rolls were barely holding together, the rice was stale and the avocado was browned. We were willing to forgive the drink mix-up because they were eventually brought to us and she did admit that she forgot. However, after our main plate of sushi, while we were waiting for the hot roll (which usually arrives last) the waitress brought our check. I asked the waitress to remove the roll from the bill since we didn't receive it and she told us she thought we had. However, our table was still littered with plates and sushi platters from the beginning of our meal, so unless the bus-person removed just the hot roll plate and left everything else, we clearly hadn't received our final roll. She did not apologize for the mix up. It is unfortunate that Hapa has had such a large turn over in staff (I havn't seen a single familiar face the last 5 times I've eaten there) and that the service has become so poor. I would definitely recommend dining somewhere else.

Pros: removed one of the problems from my bill

Cons: poor service, poor food, too loud

I love Hapa! It isn't traditional sushi but that's what's so great about it. It is definitely a different style; they use molasses as a sushi topping (in small enough doses- it is so delicious). The ambiance is really cool. Plus, they stay open late. My favorite roll, hands down, is the asparagus caterpillar roll. I first started going to Hapa on the Hill in Boulder, and then the one on Pearl St. I was so happy when they brought Hapa to Cherry Creek. The restaurant is usually noisy and jammed packed, but if you're looking for a hip restaurant, this is the place to go in Cherry Creek for sushi. (Sushi Tazu's sushi keeps disappointing me- not doing that again) I like Sushi Den for traditional sushi, but Hapa has rolls that are unique and make my roommates and I have cravings to go back. Worth a try- but beware, you might get hooked. The wait staff could use a little improvement. They sometimes forget orders and bring out random rolls that you didn't order- which get comped (you have to say something), you eat the food you didn't order (still delicious) and then they bring out what you really ordered... sort of a bargain, really)

Pros: Best steak, open late, cool atmosphere, really really tasy sushi

Cons: wait staff gets food out quickly... but usually the wrong one.

Yeah the servers here are always in bad moods. I think that the rolls are also badly rolled because of the constant turnover on the chefs as well. The hand rolls are decent, and the sashimi is normally ok. Be careful of the tuna- it's either good or bad. This place does have a great happy hour. The hot rolls everyone gets excited about are made with nasty mayonnaise and probably have a couple thousand calories, so if you're into that, you got it. Overall, not impressed, but do frequent because of happy hour specials. Not worth the full price.

Pros: hapy hour, sashimi/nigiri

Cons: poor service, gotta know what to avoid

the first time i experienced hapa was on the hill in boulder... then in cherry creek...always a great place.... the calamari is to die for and also try the magic mushrooms. the service is always friendly and the couple of times they got something mixed up they were very gracious

Pros: great food

Cons: not a lot of free parking

Hapa Sushi is a great sushi restaurant. The staff greeted us immediately and seated us promptly. Our waiter was very attentive, and was friendly to us as well as our 2 young daughters. The children's menu is perfect; we all were pleased with it. The sushi selection is creative and delicious. Wonderful experience!! We will be back soon! We usually go to Sushi Den, but the horrendous wait time and unfriendly staff has kept us away from there for awhile now. Thank you for redeeming our faith in Japanese cuisine and service.

If you prefer a trendy atmosphere over great food, then go to Hapa. The sushi is mediocre. It's a typical Denver restaurant where they try to have fancy decor in place of great food. If you want great sushi in Cherry Creek without the trendy decor, try Sushi Tazu, it's much better.

Pros: location, patio, decor

Cons: mediocre sushi, there are better options for Sushi in Denver

We showed up on a Friday night at 7:30 and got a seat at the sushi bar in no time. The waitress was pleasant and didn't try to push anything too hard. The saki flights are a fun way to get a taste of four different flavors. The calamari appetizer with the mango chili sauce was really tasty. The calamari wasn't over breaded or tough at all. I had a foreplay roll and a tuna roll while my companion had an array of nigiri. the mackerel was quite fishy and wasn't his favorite. The unagi was done perfectly. It seemed a little pricey by the time we paid--we've eaten at Sushi Den for a little less. Still, the environment was lively and the food was quite good.

Pros: Service, Saki

Cons: Parking, A little pricey

If you rated a sushi roll on the amount of rice that didn't make it off the plate, this one would win. The fish was mediocre and at the very least you think they'd be able to put a roll together. I eat sushi out because I can't roll worth a damn - neither can they. Also, the waitress didn't know what wakame was and we had to ask for a seaweed salad. The ambiance was cool.

Pros: ambiance

Cons: bad hand-work

I work in the area and have frequented this place for happy hour with coworkers. If you are not a "regular" don't expect anyone to remember what you ordered at the bar...and be prepared to be asked to move to a different barstool if someone comes along that usually tips a lot...because that's what's most important; tips. Bad attitude from the waitstaff and below average sushi make me not want to go back ever again. Kona Grill and Sushi Tazu are much better if you are in Cherry Creek.
