Best Salmon! We love their Dinners!

by diningcouple

My husband and I love to try new restaurants, but we keep coming back to Augustine Grill. We have our favorites there, but once in a while we venture out and try something else, we are never disappointed. The owner always takes the time to visit with her customers (unless they want their alone time). Augustine Grill has a "cumfy" feel to it, located in a historic home that has been converted into a restaurant. Tha gardens are beautiful, we love to dine out on the back patio, especially on beautiful Friday or Saturday nights when they have live music. Definately not a place for little kids, we've seen kids allowed to run wild through their beautiful gardens as well as pick their flowers. We've also seen well behaved kids treated very nicely by the staff. We have raised our kids, so we choose nicer restaurants hoping we don't have to deal with someone elses. We have seen the owners work very hard at making some wonderful changes over the years, and as I said, we keep coming back, it's worth it!

  • Pros: Ambience, cozy, gourmet menu,
  • Cons: Parking (during the day only) night time parking is fine

Augustine Smelly Grill

by TravelingSue

We dined at this establishment and found the staff to be as distasteful as the food.

It is a small hole in the wall which claims to be charming. The wait was too long. Food not so good and over-priced.

Not to mention the smell in the bathroom which happens to be crammed right next to the kitchen.

Maybe invest in proper plumbing. Nice but not so nice try on the charm!

Excellent food & service. Best Lamb & Ahi Tuna!

by linneybin

Wonderful, quaint restaurant with a European feel. The food is always so tasty and the quality is excellent. Not a place for ill-mannered children though, the seating is intimate. We witnessed children tromping through the beautiful gardens next to our table and picking flowers. We love this place. Have the Ahi Tuna or Lamb!

  • Pros: Cozy and a great patio
  • Cons: not for small children

A great place , most romantic in Castle Rock with excellent cuisine!

by sheshe55

We live in the immediate area and go there on a fairly regular basis and except for one time when it was very crowded the service was slow, the food is always incredibly good and the desserts are the same. Also, I agree with another reveiwer ,don't bring young children (especially ill mannered ones ) to a restaurant of this caliber,it's just not done.

BAD SERVICE & SUB_PAR FOOD

by badfstaff

I can?t agree with you ladies more. We too had a terrible experience with our family at Augustine?s Grill. The waiter was totally rude. Outside in there patio area it smelled like garbage. The hostess area is a tiny little 2x2 space and it takes 20-30 minutes to get seated. The food is way over priced and not very good. I think the owner thinks way too highly of his place as we complained and he said ? We are very busy we must be doing something right?. Does he not realize how limited the choices are in Castle Rock? When we actually get some decent restaurants trust me the place will be dead. Don?t go there it is a waste of money! The owner and wait staff are sub-par.

Wonderful Food and Ambience

by thetealady

My husband and I were returning form a funeral in Cheyenne, WY and he decided to treat me to dinner at the Augustine Grill. This was my first time there and I loved it. I had the rac* of lamb(for some reason this site finds the correct spelling of this word offensive) and he had the special which was crab stuffed salmon. It was so good I even ate my vegetables which I hardly ever do!

This is ADULT dinning. Personally I think no child should enter a restaurant with table clothes on the tables unless those children are old enough to attend and have attended cotillion. (referring to one of the poor reviews below). People don't generally go to nice restaurants and spend their money on great food to be disturbed by children.

  • Pros: great food, service, ambience
  • Cons: they call afternoon tea, high tea but hey, no one is perfect

I left there completely offended and appalled.

I went there for lunch with my two children, a friend and her daughter. Our table was outside, and it smelled like garbage. Our waiter was rude to us right away, and was clearly not happy to be waiting on 3 little (well behaved) children. Then I overheard him talking to the owner about how they should hang a sign on the door stating "no kids allowed". I approached the owner and asked if he had a problem with my children, he coldly said "not yet". We were so offended that we left before we got our food. (the kids had shared a $7 bowl of macaroni and cheese). We spoke w/ the owner when we left, he never apologized and he said that his kids would never throw mac and cheese on the ground. And something to the effect of how dare we bring our children there when it was a busy lunchtime.

Don't overlook this delicious little dining spot...

by chloejeanette

We ate at the Augustine Grill last September- it was my first time going. While their menu is somewhat limited (it can be found online) it had enough variety, offering a few pasta dishes, steak, chicken, seafood, and salad options. We ate outside in the "back yard" area as the sun was setting. The service was impeccible and there was no rush- it really feels like a place you could sit at for hours, dining and chatting. The food was excellent, the dessert was to die for. We'll definitely be going back again soon!

  • Pros: Great place to sit and relax, good food, good service
  • Cons: I can't think of any!

a true delight!

by anonymoustoo

we have dined at the augustine grill before, but had'nt been in the new addition. it is absolutely beautiful...very cozy w/a fireplace, lots of windows and much more roomy than the original rooms. i had the sesame tuna and my husband had the rack of lamb. it couldn't have been more delicious. we had a new waiter, but the service was great and it was obvious he was trying hard. he suggested the creme brulee and i have to say, being a dessert fanatic it was the best i think i have ever had. my wife and i will be back & look forward to taking our guests there. i hear the holidays it's beautiful. a great treat as always.

  • Cons: parking sometimes
