Burgers are the Best

Alexanders uses leftover steak trimmings in it's ground beef burgers - absolutely great. The shoestring french fries are perfect.
Best Steak In Denver - Or Anywhere!

Be sure to order the filet mignon, and tell them you want it with the Maitre' d butter on it - I believe they took that off the menu but they definitely still serve it that way, only way to go! Get the caesar salad, loaded baked potato, and a Long Island Iced Tea, and say hello to Heaven on Earth!
J's truly is the best, and I know, I tried a pile of them! Seriously, went one month on a "try to beat J's steak" expedition, and gave up after deciding that none were in J's league, not at all! These included Flemings, Ruth's Chris, Morton's, Trappers, and Elways, and trust me - none compare! No, I didn't try Brook's or The Broker, but after all the others, I simply decided there was no reason to continue trying! Houston's in Atlanta comes in second, but hey, that's a pretty long drive if you're in Denver, dontcha know!
- Pros: Wonderful Food, Ambience, Service
- Cons: None
Good Food, Nice Atmosphere, Good Service, Large portions
by bkcastlerock at Citysearch
I went there with my husband and another couple. Although the menu was not extensive, there was something for everyone. The food was delicious and the portions were large. The service was excellent and we did not feel rushed at all. This was a great place to enjoy dinner, relax, and catch up with friends. I definately will return.

Great food!

I eat at this restaurant a few times a week for dinner. The service is great, and the prices are modest for how good the food is. I usually get the cheeseburger and it is awesome. Mr. Jack's Chicken Finger Platter is also amazing... far and away the best chicken fingers I've ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a very solid meal.
Best Steak, Awesome Atmosphere!

J's filet mignon topped with maitre d' garlic butter is far and away the best in Denver! The wood grilled flavor is out of this world, I promise! Get a loaded baked potato (that will be perfect), a Caesar salad that comes in a chilled bowl (I recommend ordering with a lighter amt of dressing), and a good Long Island Iced Tea, and find Heaven on Earth, trust me!
I once went on a "filet finding" expedition, bent to find a better one, just for curiosity - didn't happen. I tried: Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Fleming's, Trapper's, and Elway's, and none compared. The only one I've ever thought came close (2nd place close, mind you) was Houston's in Atlanta - not one 'round these parts, though. So, I don't try anymore - when I want a filet, I go to J's. Try it out, you won't be sorry.
Oh, and the atmosphere, absolutely perfect - nice darker decor, dim mood lighting, well dressed personnel, classy, but not stuffy (no white table cloths and formality). Perfect for couples and business clients, not so much for children.
- Pros: Food, Service, Ambience
What a JOKE
by kellsbells0802 at Citysearch
My husband and I went to J Alexanders for lunch this week after all the hype we thought we would try it out. It was a Monday at 11:30 and the hostess told us there would be a 10-20 min wait which we thought it must be pretty good to have a wait on a Monday for lunch. 35 minutes of waiting we finally got out table and we were both excited to see what everyone was talking about. We get the menu and see the prices WOW 17 -18 dollars for a sandwich, must be pretty good we thought. My husband orders the prime rib sandwich and I order the French Dip (at the waiters high recommendation). Instead of fries my husband asks if he can substitute the onion rings, sure no problem the waiter tells him. We wait for about 30 minutes for our food but hey that is what you have to do at such highly rated restaraunts right? The waiter brings our food and the first thing I notice is my husbands onion rings 3 sorry onion rings on his plate, you have got to be kidding me I am thinking He orders a 18.00 sandwich and the best they can do is give him 3 onion rings in replacement for the fries. I on the other hand had a plate full of fries that were COLD. Ok the sandwiches have to be great right? Wrong, I could have gone to Arby's drive thru and gotten a French Dip that would have been just as tasty if not better then this for about 1/4th of the price. My husbands Prime Rib sandwich was so rare it didn't even look like it had been cooked and he said it tasted like it too. What a MAJOR disappointment Total bill $41.74 Sorry but I would have to say SAVE YOUR MONEY, this is one restaraunt I will never go to again.. MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT AND RIP OFF

The sizzling grill whispers in your ear as you walk in.

In Short
Some customers come here for dinner, others just to meet some friends in the pub for a drink. The beautiful wood interior and nice lighting create a friendly ambiance for conversation. Though the restaurant's specialty is prime rib (and it is special), the barbecue baby-back ribs with tequila beans and coleslaw is tasty. The Rattlesnake Pasta has enough spice to bite back, and the warm and gooey carrot cake is a good finish.
Undiscovered Jewel

The J. Alexander's chain blends its own hamburger with prime rib trimmings, and then cooks them to order. The result is a melt-in-your-mouth burger that has no equal. The red onions on the burger add a unique and spicy flavor. The stick fies aren't half-bad, either. I eaten at many J. Alexander's around the country and the service is always prompt and friendly. As more and more people discover this undervalued chain, we should see more of these restaurants opening up across Colorado and the U.S.
- Pros: good quality food, friendly service, ambience
- Cons: pricey, crowded at meal times
Not just a steakhouse
by kldouglas at Citysearch
This restaurant does not only steak but many other things exceptionally well. The Caeser salad is incredible if you are a big fan of garlic. Chicken dishes are good here and they have a nice selection of wines. I did not notice a dress code and have been there in jeans and seen large families casually dressed there several times. I have also had exceptionally good service there as well. I recommend.
- Pros: salad, wine list , service
Great Service. Great Tuna!
by TroutMask at Citysearch
Some of the best service I've ever had. I had the asian ahi tuna and my wife had the fish sandwich. My tuna was absolutely excellent. My wife's fish (it was swordfish that day) was okay but a little too fatty and a too-fishy taste. We look forward to giving the rest of a menu a go.
- Pros: Great service, Good parking
- Cons: Pricey
