Rice
by TheDorf
Everything is fine at this restaurant, except one thing. They overcharge for rice. I know rice is expensive now, but they overcharge for rice and the proportions are underwhelming.
- Pros: Good food.
- Cons: Overcharge

I dislike arrogant people. People are not oriental unless they are objects. I guess only the uneducated trash calls them Oriental. Maybe those people should go eat their own countries food if they don't know the proper terms. And also who compliments miso?
Other than that. . .the resturant is clean w/fresh tuna!!!
Server # 2 still has an attitude
by Patdm
Have been to this restaurant several times over the years. Have had mostly decent service, however, the food keeps me coming back. Have ordered to go food many times as I usually don't have time for a sit-down meal. The sushi is good as well as the miso soup and box lunches. Recommend the salmon fatty collar. Waitress #2, an oriental woman in her 50's has waited on us on more than one occasion. The first time we overlooked her snarly attitude chalking it up to a long day. However, every time since she has displayed the same attitude so now we realize that it is part of her character to be snotty and short w/her customers. When my son and I last ate there a few weeks ago, we ordered a to go lunch for my daughter. I paid the bill and tipped before tax, but not including the to go order. I've managed and worked in restaurants before and this is standard practice. As the service was good that day, I tipped around 17%. When we were going to our car, the waitress came up to us and asked us if the total we tipped was correct. I said yes, it was, and to clarify, mentioned that it is customary to tip before tax and that I don't tip on to-go orders which may have given her the impression that we were undertipping. I think she expected a tip on top of the to-go order. She shot us a dirty look and without saying anything more, not even a thank you, hastily went back into the restaurant. This is probably the last time we'll visit Sushi Wave, even though the food is good. Service can make or break a restaurant and the manager would do well to hire someone else w/a more pleasant attitude who actually enjoys working w/people.
She doesn't seem to enjoy people and we wondered how she gets along w/the other waitstaff who have always been pleasant enough. Not sure what the problem is, perhaps she's burned out, but we think she'd do better behind the scenes or elsewhere. She's not a happy camper.
Largest pieces of nigiri I've seen in Denver area!
by skweelz1
My group goes to a different sushi restaurant every month and January's was Sushi Wave. What a treat! They had the table for 20 ready for us with complimentary edimame. The servers were great and even let us have separate checks. Now to the sushi, it is definitely one of the top we have gone to so far. The presentation for the Dragon roll and catepillar roll was fantastic. Monday's they have happy hour prices all day but they don't skimp on the size of the fish! As I said the nigiri was fresh, and big enough for 2 pieces instead of 1! I heard the Dynamite roll was fabulous so I'll have to go back and give it a try. If you a sushi lover, give this restaurant a try, you'll keep coming back!
- Pros: Large pieces of sushi
- Cons: Can't think of any!
Best Sushi in the DTC area. Excellent fish!
by mental69
I've worked in the Tech center for 12 years now, and I've eaten at all the sushi restaurants. Sushi Wave consistently has the best quality fish, and an excellent selection of rolls. I've never eaten here for dinner, but lunch is never crowded, and the service is excellent.
The Dynamite Hand Roll is the best i've had in Colorado, and a must try!
Also, they have recently started doing sashimi tataki style with thin sliced jalapenos.
Miso is also tastey here.
- Pros: Great quality fish, good rolls and presentation, no crowds, reasonably priced
- Cons: bland ambience
Best kept sushi secret down south!

First off... I do not like sushi! But most of my friends do so I have eaten at many around town, and I really like Sushi Wave! They offer a variety of other choices besides sushi that are very good. The value is exceptional and the location is fabulous for those of us Centennial dwellers. The service is always good (although we do go there quite often, the server never really acknowledges that he remembers us!?!), and from what my friends tell me, the sushi is quite good, if raw fish and seaweed, garnished with fish eggs is your thing! I usually get a tempura dinner or multiple appetizers, and my friends get the different "wave" options on the menu (different types all for a good price). The presentation is very good too - especially their caterpillar roll and volcano presentation. Overall, highly recommended for both sushi lovers and their non-sushi friends alike!
- Pros: good sushi and alternate dishes, great value
- Cons: not outstanding service, but not bad service either
good sushi and not too crowded
by pokerplayer1234
I came here on a Monday night after work with a group of ten people. The restaurant has happy hour deals on Mondays. After work is not crowded at all and we had prompt seating; it's located in a strip mall with not a lot of visibility from the street. They also gave us free miso soup and free house salads while we were waiting for our sushi to be prepared, presumably because we turned in such a large sushi order all at one time. The sushi was delicious and I'll definitely be back. The only downside was that they overcharged us an extra sake, but considering $1.75 happy hour price, our large group, and the freebies, we decided it wasn't worth the effort of correcting.
- Pros: quick seating, good sushi
- Cons: strip mall
Take it from an expert!!
by mwdunker
As a connesseur of fine sushi from around the US, I must say that this is among the best sushi you will find. No flash here, as teh small strip mall setting does not do this place justice. But the atmosphere is good, service is excellent, and the sushi is excellent.
Best Sushi I have had in two cities.

I love sushi and I know when it is good. I place little to no value on pretense and glam but I do value the fundamentals of dining. This place has fantastic sushi and they present it so elegantly. I have been to Sushi Den and other places in Houston and this is the best. I have tried many types of sushi but salmon, tuna, and fatty tuna are the ones I am always drawn to. All are great at Sushi Wave. We're regulars at Sushi Wave because we always get top-notch service (favorite waitress: Jen!). Udon, spicy beef, teryaki steak, garlic beef, tempura, and rolls - all are fantastic and well-presented.
Atmosphere is contemporary, casual, family-friendly (no crying kids tho), and quiet. No pretense here. This place is 9.5+ easily.
- Pros: Food Quality, Service, Price
- Cons: Parking, Few more beers?
