They obviusly don't have a clue what lagniappe means

by Karen68

Worst experience in a long time!!! The food was fine a little heavy on the blackening spices and the service lead something to be desired (I had to ask for a second beer 3 times before the waitress remembered to bring it and she kept walking away without asking if we needed anything like water or silverware.

The big problem came with the bill when the owner added a 2 dollar cover for each of us for the band. We asked to speak with him and he was very condesending saying I could make a decision ?Honey? that it was only 2 dollars. That was the point. We just spent over $200 dollars on dinner. A dinner that we could have gotten at any number of restaurants in Denver that wouldn?t have charged us a cover for the band even without buying dinner. The entire reason we went to dinner there was to see the band. I called that day to make a reservation and no mention of the cover was mentioned when I asked about the band. A cover without dinner yes, fine but to nickel and dime dinner guests is rediculus. They were already charging $4 Bud Lt.

Don?t waste your time or money on their fake southern charm. They obviously don?t have a clue what lagniappe means.

Say NO to Nono's! Horrible food and service.

by junebug62

We thought this would be a great place given the reviews, but our experience was horrible. We waited 10+ for the first person to come to our table and another 30 for our food to come. The food was horrible!! How can you mess up breakfast?? The manager blamed it on a "slow" Sunday...seriously??

NOT RECOMMENDED - BAD, BAD, SERVICE

by earleh

It seems that management doesn't read their reviews or even care because complaints have been issued for some time. I had breakfast there months ago and the service was bad. Tried again 9/24/08 and it was even worse. No one welcomed my wife and me, we were told that we could not have what we wanted because it would stress the small kitchen. Only 3 tables were occupied! Had to wait forever for food, coffee refills weren't offered, we had to ask, not one person asked if the meal was good or thanked us for coming. The trash from empty cream containers, used straws, used napkins etc. were placed at the edge of the table and never noticed, had to wait and finally askfor the bill. No thank you when we were leaving. This wait staff should be properyl trained and monitored to be friendly and courteous - or maybe the management should change!

Authentic great Cajun

by EdBoudreaux

I loved finding a Cajun restaurant with true Cajun food! Gumbo is terrific - very authentic, extra dark roux. Check out the crawfish boils - all you can eat and then some! Try the catfish poboy - great stuff! Oh, and it's nice finding guys from back home.

Run, don't walk away!

by MRLUPO

I was excited to find an "unique" restaurant where my family and I could go to for our traditional Sunday breakfast and that is near our home, then we ate there. We were treated like we were not wanted. To quote the host "we do not want to overwhelm our kitchen, so it will be a 30 minute wait." Mind you, there were several empty tables and what were they thinking staffing with inept help at Sunday brunch! This did not bode well, but we hung-in-there. We were eventually seated, but were lost in no-man's land where service was rare, which means only one cup of coffee for you. When we eventually got our order. My strawberry french toast was covered in sugar and barely a strawberry to be seen. My husband had something with country sausage gravy, but could not get sausage with his meal. Huh? My two-year-old son was tired of the 1.5 hour process and was ready to jump off the deck. Sadly, the view was the only thing good about the experience. No one gave us a bill, so I went to the front and stood there like an idiot until I could get someone's attention. Please go only if you have low expectations and high self esteem because this place is as welcoming as a rodent in your soup.

Great!

We had a great meal here! The service was wonderful as well. We met another couple here, and they were impressed also. We will all definitely be back. The view off of the west facing patio was beautiful!

An Absolute NONO!

by 4500

MY Family and I went there for the first time, and had lunch .It took way to long to get a burger and a fish sandwich and mac and cheese, and when it got there the burger was raw, and I mean raw! My husband sent it back , so I shared my fish sandwich with him , which was ok but wasn't anything special. The mac and cheese looked like something that was scraped out of a pan that was sitting out for days. Yuck! So after sitting around again for my husbands other burger , we got tired of waiting and asked for the bill. Then the manager comes over and apologizes takes the burger off our bill , which I believe for the service and inconvienence of my husband not getting lunch they should not have of charged us period. We left and went home and made our own burgers(YUM) . Next time we want to go out for lunch it wont be there.

Terrible Customer Service

by june59

I ordered the pancake and scrambles eggs. Very simple to prepare. The eggs were cold. Apparently the eggs are prepared in advance and refrigerated until an order is requested. However, the cook? forgot to reheat them. Even the small plate they were served on was cold. The watress removed them, took an order for 4 from an adjoining table and finally took the cold eggs to the kitchen for heating. I finished my pancake before the reheated eggs arrived. I didn't have anything to eat with the eggs by then such as bread, toast, etc. I just left them on the plate. Requested the check and after watching her talk to the manager/owner, a $1.95 was removed from my bill. The manager/owner didn't come to apologize just glared at me as if it was my problem. He apparently didn't care if I ever returned. Terrible service.

Great food Great Service

by idadrive

When I read the online reviews I was hesitant about choosing Nono's cafe but so glad we did. We had a group of 23 for lunch on a Friday at 11:15. We arrived and were promptly seated. The food was excellent, the service was as well. We never had to wait for our drinks to be refilled or dirty dishes to be removed from the table. The desserts came highly recommended and did not disappoint...the bread pudding was so fabulous but the warm strawberry cake was also lucious. Glad we went and next time I am down that way I will stop in to try another entree. Can't wait!!!

Expect Great Tasting, Unique Southern/Creole flair...Don't Expect Good Service

by maccpt

I've been going to NO-No's since they were in the shopping center off of Broadway, before they built their new restaurant. I love the food. But to keep from being disappointed, expect only fair service at best -it doesn't matter whether they are busy or not. Its never really good. The food keeps me going back just because I'm from the South and love the way they celebrate the South through their unique dishes. But the last time I went there they tried to served us their signature Gumbo without any rice. Thats like getting Irish stew without any potatoes! C'mon guys! And when I complained, our watress said "yeah, we ran out"... Well then TELL ME YOU DON"T HAVE ANY RICE AND I'LL ORDER SOMETHING ELSE!" Don't bother asking for the owner, it doesn't help a lot. We finally got our rice. Ofcourse it was AFTER most of the Gumbo was gone and the rest cold... Certainly don't expect an apology or some discount or a coupon or anything... the Brewster's east coast attitude comes off like "I got your customer service right heah!" And unfortunately, that attitude is passed down through the staff. When you get treated like that, you just don't feel appreciated as a customer. It's really sad. Such good unique recipes but an unreliable dining experience.

  • Pros: Unique, spicey, Southern / Creole recipes in a setting that says 'Down South'
  • Cons: "Cocky, we don't really care" attitude from the top-down creates a disappointing experience
