WORST BANK EVER!!
by mark886 at Citysearch
I wholeheartedly agree with the other negative reviews. This is a horrible bank and I will be closing my accounts today. I'm a responsible person in general, but once in a while when a mixup happens, WATCH OUT!! If you have an overdraft, there is no call to notify you. You'll receive notice via postcard a week after it happens, so they charge $39 for the overdraft plus another $48 because it's been more than 6 days, then they add on $7 per day thereafter, so if it's been 8 days, that's $94 in overdraft fees! "Customer Service" has been well trained to believe that their computers automatically call to let you know about the overdraft (they didn't call and the number they had on file was correct), and that the customer is lying when they say that no call was made. These folks are greedy, coldhearted slimeballs. Their lines are much longer than at other banks too - they don't hire enough people and make the customer pay by having them wait. Take your money elsewhere. There are excellent options for locally owned banks who actually value your business enough to treat you with respect.
- Pros: Branch personnel are friendly, free business checking
- Cons: Excessive fees, long lines, not as many branches as other local banks, short hours.
Worst bank I've ever dealt with

The Action:
Let me just say that I am one of the most responsible people I know with money. This bank has the nerve to charge me 10 NSF fees at $38 a piece because my Checking account drops into the red (I guess it dosent matter that I signed up for overdraft protection which draws from my savings when this happens). So, my account should have never dropped below 0, now that they have charged me almost $400 dollars I make some more transactions not knowing that my account was negative.
The customer service responce:
The bank refunds the original $400 dollar problem after about a week of bickering with them! In this timeframe I make more transactions that (of course) charge more NSF fees. I call customer service to resolve this issue and they tell me that there is nothing that they can do to correct this because I knew that I didn't have overdraft protection! The reason that these new fees were placed on my account wasn't because I needed overdraft protection, it was because they temporaraly STOLE $400 from me.
On top of that the customer service rep said that the $400 that they refunded to me was because of leniency from the bank and they shouldn't have even refunded me that money and then ACCUSED me of being irresponsible with my money. I'm not sure about anyone else but this offended me more than anything.
Take this as a warning, I'm sure that if the customer service was this bad for me then it will be for you also.
- Pros: Friendly branch staff
- Cons: Customer service nightmare
Good for me.

I've had nothing but a good experience with Compass bank.
Perhaps they've shaken up their protocol.
The people at my branch are awesome and really cool and I've never had a problem
with any transactions.
Perhaps I'm biding my time but so far so good.
Worst Bank I've ever experienced!

I've been a business owner for over 25 years and I have to say that this is the most excrutiating bank I've ever dealt with. In the short time I've been with this bank I've nearly "blown a brain gasket" at least six times due to their flippant attitudes and ridiculous policies and procedures. As my peers and business relations will attest, I am one of the most mellow, easy going people they know. I don't blow gaskets. It's not my style. Buyer beware; their "new accounts" people are pleasant, professional and informative. Unfortunately, once you've opened an account, you'll be dealing with their customer service manager and she'll be more than happy to tell you that it's several painful months before you can legally close your account.
- Pros: LoDO location
- Cons: customer service, caustic staff, absurd policies
Terrible Bank

This is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is horrible, every transaction is a problem, their personnel are rude and their fees are rediculous. I couldn't make a cash deposit without a problem.
